What am I in for?

a very good no frills JRPG that falls in the upper middle of the dragon quest games greatness scale

Good to hear. This is my first Dragon Quest game so I'm glad it's a good one.

It's definitely a good game V and Viii are usually considered the best this 3rd or 4th in my opinion

This game is fun as hell and I love it to death.

The alpha version of Dragon Quest X.

Great gameplay, not that much story.

A postgame so long I've literally never heard anyone say they've completed it.

Its good recently started it as well but then forgot about it.
Just have fun man.

Probably some of the best "classic style" jrpg gameplay you'll find. I might reccomend getting a pdf of the guidebook so you can take full advantage of the crafting system by knowing which mosters to mug for drops and where to find items on the overworld.

a fuckload of quests and items are gone because nintendo shut down wifi.
this doesn't effect the main story, but the story is short and dq9 is about endgame content.
your options to get the content are:
-buy a hacking device to type in the codes
-buy a save extract device, bring the save to pc and use the save editor
-emulate the game on pc and use the save editor

Wow that's really stupid.

I do want to point out that calling the story "short" in this case still means well over 40 hours it's just that the endgame is hundreds of hours even without the wifi content.

DQ thread? DQ thread.

I'm playing DQ7 for the first time (the remake). Just got Melvin and I have to say, the game is way too easy. I grinded a bit, but not that much, and I stomp everything so fast. So far it's my least favorite of the DQs I've played. Anyone know these feels?

Oh okay. I was worried for a second that there'd be no endgame without the wifi.
I figured the story would be 40-60 hours.

The 3DS remake is easier than the original PS1 game. You might have done more extra leveling than you realize.

As for it being the least favorite, I still think its better than DQVI and IX. But even in the remake, the games flow slows to a crawl near the end. I quit playing for weeks because I didn't want to search for the elemental spirits. And that Casino grinding...

No the wifi is for the character quests and an easier way to get rare materials for crafting the 5 star items.

Even without it there's still a whole class you can't access until postgame, areas of the map that get unlocked, at least one long dungeon (I think there's like 3 long postgame story dungeons without wifi but I only remember one for sure. There's a ton more with wifi). Also random dungeons for getting the 5 star gear.

Gimme a moment to get my guidebook and I can give you some specifics.

I haven't played VI, and I think I liked IX more than VII (at the moment). Then again I haven't played IX in 5 years or so.

A really good game.

Ok yeah. One major dungeon included in postgame, however most of the hardest returning bosses from old games are accessible through the grottos.

A very good game. Make your party before you go northward. You'll know what I mean when you get there. A warrior, a priest and the third member can be whatever else you want.

>the enemy are defeated
Kek. Too good not to share.

Been emulating DS games for so long I forgot how terrible the resolutions for the 3d games are

I prefer the faster combat and classes in VII over IX. It felt like a refined version of IX in combat. Though the localization team fucked everything up with menu lag. There's always something screwed up in the western release.

Emulating on what?
