Well, Alpha Centauri is pretty hard sci-fi, and its directly inspired by Frank Herbert novels, pretty sure that's where you get the idea of tech quotes.
I wonder if sci-fi game writers these days even bother to read the more hard side of the genre.
I mean, the political stuff is fine, but you gotta balance it out.
