DMC:DmC is a pretty shit game and it got Overwhelmingly Positive

>recent

Yes, they actually started updating the game.

i had fun

its really fun for a while and then you realize that the same exact structure is copypasted 5000 times over on every planet you visit

I just thought for sure the game would flop after release

Obviously it never had a chance against Terraria, but it always has a few thousand people playing, which is pretty decent

What about No mann's sky killer?
>not even 3d

>"Look at all the cool maymay they added to the game xDDD. And the furry vore mods are awesome too :D. I will just write a positive review to let my friends on facebook know."

Basically what's happening.

please leave your bubble

did you say furry vore mods

It's the best alternative to Terraria

It may genuinely be the comfiest game ever made user. If not, it's easily in the top 5 comfiest games ever made. It's up there with Animal Crossing and Fable. Sitting down to play an instrument while your comfy customized spaceship sails through the universe at the speed of light and your loving pet plays around on the ground is a top tier feel. I've spent hours just hanging out in my ship.

I actually like it, it's worth my money desu. I like building comfy 2D stuff.
Yeah, it's not perfect or goty material but still pretty good

Yes, Starbound is really good.
May have been shit several years ago, but those years of people shitting on it had them turn it around by the time they got out of Early Access.

Is it still super processor intensive?

Last time I tried to play it was before the fishing update, and it pushed my system harder than most AAA games, been waiting for some kind of optimization before trying it again

>Best alternative to Terraria
>Still costs more than Terraria
It's a shit alternative to Terraria because Terraria is a better game as well as cheaper.

The game is actually fun now.

And thanks to Numale Sky for fucking up so badly, people started to look for a scapegoat and took a look at Starbound again. It's literally the same game where you are given a particle gun (matter manipulator) but you can actually do shit.

>what's an alternative

you dont need an alternative to terraria
terraria is the best and cheapest terraria game
????????

Chucklefuck fixed the game, albeit very slowly. It's worth a shot now that it's out of early access.

But what if I want to play Terraria in space? What ALTERNATIVE do I have?

Terraria's eventual sequel.

>Why play other kart racing games when Diddy Kong Racing exists?

thats terraria with a colourfilter

>start up terraria
>create small world
>build spaceship base in space biome
>create other small worlds and exploit their resources to make your ship even blingier

Terraria for the poor man

please someone post the biggest terraria autism ever thread screencaps
i know someone has them

all the people who got the game by kickstarting (the people they fucked over and lied to) are filtered out by the new system

Every time I see the Starbound logo I keep thinking it says Earthbound.

Didn't they do something scummy like having negative reviews culled, or something to that effect?

does starbound actually do something in space now? last I played it was just planet hopping

i dont know what youre talking about but ill dump a few random terraria autisms

Yes.
Furry vore mods.
They are more detailed than you would expect.

>Post purchase rationalization
>The only people that care about it at this point where the retarded fanbase
What did you expect?

It's also a somewhat decent game and comparing it to other survive and build games which is a genre filled with the absolute worst kind of garbage will make it look "okay" by comparison.

Most people who play/review now had no idea what the game was originally pitched/sold as, it was a far bigger scam than trivial shite like NMS.

some guy who had like multiple clans and kingdoms and shit
idk if it was on Sup Forums or not, i only remember it faintly

...

This exactly, thanks user

starbound was better during the beta, and they cut short on so many promises

...

At some point they did, yea. Bunch of them just got reposted but many reviewers never knew or cared to repost.

Worst part is how completely in shambles their development team is.

Rhopunzel is a former developer btw. Did a lot of the early spritework.

Did somebody say Starbound?
issheights-true.tumblr.com/
The game is garbage, but this mod helps the post-purchase regret a little bit.

>even Rhopunzel got the shaft

Jesus, all this drama I missed out on

A real shame /sbg/ went forever gone so I can't sift through their archives of it

He roleplayed 1000s of characters by himself.

It was pretty autistic, but I can't talk because I do degenerate erp shit.

I might play Starbound...but at least I didnt get shafted by No Man's Sky...

Also, it will never be the equal to Terraria but it can hold its own with mods.

...

Just because his 1000x character RP isn't as degenerate as your 1x ERP doesn't mean you don't have room to talk shit about his autism.

Like, that is serious get some fucking help level autism. Not even running a kingdom server or something, just making like five characters a day every single day autism.

jesus christ thats absolutely insane

...

...

I admire the dedication but some of these Terraria builds are fucking awful

...

>All the positive reviews listing multiplayer as a perk
>All the faggots calling it a good No Man's Sky

Literally everyone who """likes""" it retards who were so thristy after all the salt they consumed with NMS that they'd take anything even remotely like it and praise it as a proper game. It's like how 9/11 made Bush not look like a complete joke of a president. NMS was Starbound's 9/11.

tell me more, though
just how detailed?

Tried with a Phenom II x4 (3.4ghz)
Was shit slideshow.

Terraria's got some mods. They'll never truly be on the same scale as a more mechanically advanced game like Starbound or Minecraft, but they're not bad. There's a few content bloat mods out there and a few mechanical ones.

Terraria's modding scene was stronger before 1.2 dropped though.

Examples of Pre-1.2 mods:
~A mod where Meteorite has the innate effect of fucking with gravity, so if there's enough to spawn Meteor Heads, there's enough to let you flip gravity like a gravitation potion.
~A mod where every enemy drops "dark souls". If you die, you drop your souls, and if you die again before recollecting them, they disappear altogether, and they could be used to craft some neato gear.
~A mod where you change your literal species, including shit like succubus and fairy and dryad.
~A mod where you could raise a shield for extra defence and perfect block, but there was a stamina meter, was in development, but failed to come to fruition before 1.2. However! The game has a weapon that does literally that minus stamina now since 1.3.4, so there's some basis for people to work with.

Current mods since 1.3 are:
~A mod which adds various prefixes to enemies that do things like make them split into more on death, make em huge, make em tiny, make them reflect any debuffs they get back onto you, make em take additional damage or effects from debuffs... plus, the "rare" ones drop tokens for new weapons and accessories, like chargeable greatbows, or magic rings that run on charges built up over time rather than mana, or gunblades, or dueling rapiers.
~A mod which allows you to pick a "class", which modifies your damage bonuses or reductions based on various conditions, may add other new mechanical features (such as dealing more damage while falling, having wings built in, or making all corruption/crimson enemies docile towards you), and give you an active-use abilitiy.
~Plus various content mods

The shit some people will say to makes something they don't like look bad.

To be fair people who bought Starbound on release probably weren't aware at all of the development process, it just seemed like a neat new game and that's it

It is agitating that Tiy is a genuine crook compared to a fuckup like Sean Murray but still managed to get away with everything

The shit some people will tell themselves to avoid the realization that just because they like a thing doesn't make it good.
The shit some people will tell themselves to void the realization that other people say mean things because it IS bad, and they're trying to let other people know.

the only reason Starbound has to exist is for Floran porn

I'll admit that there are a lot of memes modded in. However, this is the case with just about any game that allows modding and I'm going to call bullshit on the vore mod.

>I'm going to call bullshit on the vore mod.

I'm glad /sbg/ is dead and no one has the pictures anymore

SB is a decent game. It's not perfect or even good in most cases, but it's far from "the worst game imaginable". NMS makes Starbound look perfect compared to it

Actually, can vouch for the vore mod. Surprising levels of quality from it, and for someone heavy into vore it is fairly solid.

That's one of the bioms from FU with some poisoned water in it.

>it's pretty okay vanilla
>mods make it 10x better
>plenty of mods
yes. It's pretty good for a procedural universe exploring base building action game. better than NMS anyways.

>mods make it 10x better
That's only if the mods are good.

Tell me, what mods do you use, and how exactly do they improve the experience of playing?

how much comfy am I in for?

The first third to half of Terraria is maximum comfy.
The last two thirds to half of Terraria are EXTREME UNCOMFY.

Depends on playing order.

I recommend Starbound -> Stardew Valley -> Terraria. Stardew Valley will help wash out the taste of ass that playing Starbound will leave you with and once you've made a recovery you can get into some real good shit with Terraria.

1.0 was an ok use of 15 bucks. Making cozy snowy mountain weeb bases, slutting your crew up, piddling through the main story, I found my fun. It dies down pretty quickly though because for all their pretty environments and character designs, chuckle fish can't add gameplay to save their lives. Even 1.1 was fishing and Pokemon shit, things no one asked for.

And it's not like you can artificially lengthen it with autistic roleplaying because all the cool lore like the hyper-militarized humans, the omnicidal plants and muh six million fish, etc was cut in favor of happy fun time multicultural federation. Plus your unique racial starting mission was shitcanned, and you have to demolish like 3 whole houses before you can attack any villagers, even filthy apex. No token roleplaying, like joining the avian cultists so that they're not insta hostile (despite the avian PC being devout themselves) or stuff like that.

It's a shame. The game is pretty and I'm a hopeless furshit who likes the design of the Avians, so the fact that the game just gets so dull is a huge disappointment.

>tfw Tiy tricked the kid who made Stardew Valley into being published by Chucklefish
>Tiy gets cash money whenever someone buys Stardew Valley despite doing offering no support of any kind to the creator, no financial support for development, no marketing of any kind pre or post release

Just buy Terraria and pirate the rest

what said
and if you're playing Starbound with /admin on then SUPER COMFY

If it's your first time playing Terraria, then go normal mode, medium world.

P comfy user.

>~A mod where you change your literal species, including shit like succubus and fairy and dryad.

Can you spoonfeed me on the name? I remember playing something like that.

We've come a long way since they had a ten month span of zero feedback and zero updates. The final release version is decently impressive. They made up for their mistakes and have had consistent updates since.

>despite offering no support of any kind [...] no marketing of any kind pre or post release

They did both of those things.

SV's creator has also said that he's very satisfied with the deal they made with him. Considering that he made a very good game, I'm inclined to think he's not a dumbass.

I find most PC reviews focus on if it runs well. That's why every shit port even if its a good game has negative reviews.

I don't recall the name, sorry.

Even ignoring when the development process the game is straight ass. Its retarded linear in progression, all the quests being half-assed, and the shit official patches doesn't fix all the critical issues of the game. It genuinely is a shittier terraria.

vtmb

Is it just fantasy?

Do you not remember the hug box that was the playstarbounder forum?

What are the people supposed to think without Sup Forums reminding them of the evils of the fish?
Or do you not answer ignorant obnoxious questions?

I heard you can't pause in this game, is that true?

If it's true, what the fuck?

Thier marketing consisted of posting the second thread with the same image on Sup Forums two weeks before release

Fuck you I remember every one of those threads.

>He's not a dumbass
Exactly why he'd lie if he did get shafted, if he told people money would be going toward chucklefish that they didn't deserve that'd just lead to people not buying his game to deny chucklefish their money, which hurts his sales.

There is literally 0 reward and lots of risk in being honest if he got shafted.

It's true.

My friend couldn't play it on his toaster i've built for him from my previous pc. We've tried it around a month after "release" and surprisingly it was running very nice and smooth.
Pretty sure processor is some no option for serverside saves, shitty horrid backup system
>any crash\tiny voltage jump\blackout\whatever and your character is gone even if you're playing on a server
>modding scene already fills with minecraft refugees dragging their retarded microcrafting cancer into starbound
Fuck this shit

I have a mod list of over 100 something various mods but the main ones generally add shit to collect, various textures/parts for creatures, new biomes & other random stuff. It's primarily fluff and such but given the nature of the game (open galaxy 2d minecraft with combat) it works for me compared to okay but limited vanilla.

The 1.0 release is a pretty decent game

How would he get "shafted"?

Do you think he's some kind of naive baby that the big bad chucklefish boogieman took advantage of? There's plenty of actual bad shit CF did during the development of Starbound, you don't have to put ConcernedApe in fucking diapers just to come up with something else to whine about.

He's had a deal with chucklefish for at least 4 years running user, he had no idea his game would sell well and we have no idea what kind of deal exactly he has with chucklefish, and we've heard enough from other devs who signed with them about how awful of a publisher chucklefish is.

And I'm not saying he did get shafted, I'm saying that IF he did, he would be clever not to disclose this information as it'd only hurt his sales and nothing more.
