Epic blue balls waste of time

The exploration is fun, but the combat lacks something that I can't explain.

proper defense mechanics

Game has shit voice acting and shit dialogue.

DROPPED

This!
Dodging would improve the game too.

I think gameplay and atmosphere are more important.
Batman: Arkham Asylum has great VA and dialogues, but the game is shit.

Not an argument.

I LOVE DEVIL MAY CRY

It made me realize that Asians simply cannot make a good open world rpg.
They should stick to their guns with nice action combat and build games around that instead.
I wish we could get a nice mix of D&D setting and Platinum/Capcom action gameplay without things like stats that fuck up balance in action games.

Stats don't always fuck up action games.

See: Lords of the Fallen.

>It made me realize that Asians simply cannot make a good open world rpg.
What?

>spears in dragons dogma
I fucking hate you Capcom just give me this game already you fucks

One of my favorite games.
>Game will now die via Capcom tradition of unrealistic standards for sales and no western release of sequels
The game had flaws that could easily be fixed with a sequel, things like the world size and zones, how many towns there was and enemy placement, the base gameplay was solid, they just needed to fix individual elements.

There are 4 classes that can dodge
The only ones without any defence mechanics are mages and the 2h warrior

The gameplay was fun
The atmosphere was top tier
The story was shit
The world was largely empty

Could have been GOAT if they actually polished the game

Seeing the original world map design and notes is a real kick in the teeth.

The game had so much potential, and they clearly had a great vision, but of course Capcom so we can't have nice things.

It literally has great voice acting and dialogue you mongoloid

wolves hunt in packs amirite

What a gaffe

FUCK these chink niggers.

Keep your pice of shit game then, I'm done with you're bullshit

despite being a great game there is SO much lost potential thanks to capcom being lazy fucks as usual

Do you have pics of the original map design?

>MEMES XD

And what is wrong with the delivery or those lines? Pray tell

Are you fucking retarded?

Generic encounter dialogue doesn't magically invalidate the rest of the scripted dialogue in the game.

Yes that shit got repetitive, but that is arguably part of the games charm.

You have aught to complain about Arisen.

I tried it, twice
It was just boring and uninteresting

I think it has great voice acting, but the dialogue outside of the dragon is indeed terrible.

Coincidentally, he and Mercedes are the only good characters.

Didn't play Dark Arisen but heard it's a great step up from the normal game.

If you are going to play, turn all HUD off when you're getting familiar with it.
Exploring in dark, no HUD is pretty amazing and immersive.

Combat's alright, not the best but it's nice at least.

This is one of them.

There is another that shows how individual player worlds would link via an infinite tower that exists in each world.

Shit would have been amazing.

>Absoloutely useless against larger enemies as attacks count as light attacks and cant make enemies flinch, so youd start a combo and get smacked the fuck out mid combo
>you also cant juggle a cyclops
The class is for clearing trash and makes light work of them, theres also a fist fighting class, which is relegated to the same role but has more utility, Alchemist or something its called.

You clearly didnt have the heart to face the dragon and take back what had been stolen you dumb fuck.

>If you are going to play, turn all HUD off

>playing on baby mode

>story is shit
I can't believe anyone who got up to Grigori, the aftermath and the Seneschal could think this

I'm playing through it for the first time now. So far I think it's great, and would benefit from a proper sequel that added:

>mounts
>mounted combat
>gore system on everything
>less "Slay X" and escort quests
>more types of bosses, more content in general

It's really fun though. Love how it plays and I honestly don't mind the story so far. Character customization is really good and the pawn system is fun, even if their AI is kind of stupid.

>Absoloutely useless against larger enemies as attacks count as light attacks and cant make enemies flinch
It'd still be legit if they fall flat on the ground though

DD had a mmorpg-tier world.
If this is what devs thought when open world came into their minds then nips will never be able to make a good open world rpg.

>I don't know anything about DD's development history: The post

I only care about the finished product.
Why would anything else matter?

Because you are saying that they are incapable, when really Capcom horrifically nerfed the devs original design to the point where the game was barely released.

You threw out some terrible Phil Fish-tier generalisation there mate.

Its why the world feels empty, it wasnt intentional, it was cut development.

>mounts
>mounted combat

Pic related. Name me one fucking RPG with mounts that isn't MMO shit where they are not completely pointless or a detriment to gameplay. You put mounts in an RPG and it turns into: Mount, move slightly faster for 15 seconds until you run into an item or enemy and you dismount, rinse and repeat. it's shit.

>gore system on everything
I can agree

>less "Slay X" and escort quests
It's just something for you to do as you travel

>>more types of bosses, more content in general
Yeah, there should really be Elite versions of bosses with a shit ton of health and less susceptible to weakness spawning in the world. Having the mini bosses eventually be reduced to Goblin tier is not fun

>If this is what devs thought when open world came into their minds
>pff i dont care what the devs had originally designed, what I meant to say was if this what publishers thought about open worlds

Good news, user.

And i forget the pic. Motherfucker...

My biggest want in DD 2 is more generic knight gear. The only option now is the barreled helm, the rest of the helms are uggo fantasy shit or just variations of the barreled helm. Give me some armets and sallets nigga

Does Mountain Blade count as an RPG?

I agree that in general mounts tend to just feel tacked on, but there is some potential there with something like this. Especially if you had big enemies that required maneuvering around at speed, or just to keep up with them as they flee or something.

Or better yet being able to jump on a Griffon, make it your bitch, and fly it somewhere as a fast travel option etc.

It has potential.

The Witcher 3 has pretty shit mounted combat and regular combat but its addition is an overall positive to the game

>armet
>has fuck huge horns that ruin it
There is actually a sallet in the game, I cant remember the name though, I remember the armour that goes with it looks fucking shit though, it has a static skirt as the lower half.

bought it during sale yesterday, will probably play it later today after work. Anyone have any beginner tips?

If you can fight on your mount, what reason is there to leave it?

I shouldn't have used devs there as I know more of exec thing to rush out unfinished games.
But in the end it sadly doesn't matter, because devs are just salary men working for the jews who will never be able to realize their vision unless it pleases the number crunchers.
That's why I don't get people who want Dragon's Dogma 2 or something, the f2p MMO is clearly the direction that Capcom wanted to push the series.

I really liked it for the gameplay and story

I have not played that game.

Yeah but the sallet looks like shit, it's a weird texture, weird shape, and you can clearly see your eyes, mouth and chin.

They could make it so you can do basic attacks mounted to take out shitty goblins and harpies but to do special moves you must dismount.

The game isn't very obtuse but the tips I'd give are
>once you find a class you like, stick to it or classes similar to it. don't flip flop between warrior and sorcerer, or mystic knight and assassin constantly because your class determines your stats as you level up
>have patience, the "it doesn't get good until an hour in" meme is true for DD, the tutorial is long and awful but after you go to the basement and run from the tentacles it picks up

If I recall there are 2 variants of it, one has a shitty texture and the other is better. That said, I am fully in agreement with you. More helmets and more outfit slots, the armours were nice but there needed to be more of them.

There's a bronze one and steel one.

Also keep your muh knight autism to a bare minimum. The only thing wrong with Chimeric Armor is that stupid fucking hole in the stomach. I'm glad Souls Shit helped invert the tendency of over designed gear in RPGs but that does not mean everything has to be a historical replica or practical boring now.

Well see that is where it gets interesting because decent mount mechanics haven't really been explored.

Personally I would think things like enemies small enough that you can't reach them easily or effectively would require dismount unless you carry specific weapons for example.

Or make enemies that will actively try to dismount you, or have your mount get spooked by big or scary enemies like in Witcher.

There is stuff that can be done with it.

Mate you said asians. It was a shitty generalisation born of ignorance of the actual game's development history. I am sure that if you actually got to speak to the devs of DD they would even agree with you that the world ended up bland.

And don't try to assume that what we want is more of what Capcom ended up forcing them to release. Most proper fans of the game saw the original design stuff and want more of that, or just for a more fleshed out world than what we currently got.

thanks! Also can i go through the game solo or do i have to have followers?

You can go through solo but I'd highly recommend at least using your main follower, you customize them, give them armor and weapons, and they learn fighting techniques from how you fight. It's pretty cool.

You can solo as an Assassin, which in fact can get bonuses for doing so. But part of the fun is dealing with spastic Pawns.

My first play through was on hard mode with no pawns while using only bows
The game felt extremely imbalanced and some enemies took ages to kill while pretty much one shotting you but it works

not him but it's not necessarily a "muh accuracy" thing, I hate the chimeric armet too just because I think the horns look fucking stupid.

Dont listen to that guy about stats and levelling up, feel free to switch around with whatevers fun. The overall effect of stats via levelling up is negligible, only around 10%, because most of your stats come from your equipment.

The game is more fun with 3 followers, but you can go down to 0 if you want

Play on Hard if you like challenge in your games. Though it will start as unreasonably hard one shot city mode. Personally i got so bored in normal that i quit just before the final boss.

Ignore any and all "stat build autists". Play whatever vocation you want to play when ever you want. Play other vocations if you want their passive augments. That's how you build characters in this game, combine with gear.

Wouldn't recommend solo for a first run
Self plus pawn works fine tho

Might wanna make them a mage

Yea good game. Lots of classes, good amount of skills. Bow is awesome in this game. Dialog kind of sucks

I failed some fortress quest (there two ogres and bunch of goblins). What to do now?

IGNORE ALL STAT BUILD AUTISTS.

I REPEAT

IGNORE ALL STAT BUILD AUTISTS

You want to have fun in this game or do you want to waste your fucking time pandering to some retard's OCD needs?

Yes.
I fucking loved it.
Best/deepest combat in an ARPG ever.

it doesnt matter just go back to the wyrm quest faggot and tell him you fucked up.

my least favorite quest in the game besides the escort mission desu

No biggie. I dont think you get a reward but theres no way to Game Over DD

I generally liked it my only gripes is the weird character creator and combat.

Oh I didn't liked the pawn gimmick.

Isn't this fortress opens the path to the northwest part of the map?

I never understood it, its not like you actually NEED to min max, as long as you can fight well anything is viable.

Honestly, no other game ever gave me that sense of a grand adventure. And I've been playing actively since SNES era on many platforms.

Just listening to this again gives me chills.

Thanks guys. One last question: should i use a controller for this game or will i be okay with a mouse and keyboard?

Damage is 99% gear
100% if you play bbl
The game and dlc can be beaten eith ease under lv70

Zero reason to minmax or plan a lv200 build

This game pisses me off to no end . no it's not because it's shit , it's not because it's impossibly hard . no no no . its because OF THE FUCKING POTENTIAL IT HAD .

Fucking awesome combat , classes , customization , EVERYTHING.

But the story progression is slow as shit.
the pacing is fucking shit
There is no content .
everytime I talk to an NPC I wanna fucking kill myself because everyone in this world is like a fucking robot.
The enviroments are bland , the whole world besides a couple of dungeons is fucking bland and it makes me so fucking angry .

It's like the perfect actionRPG mechanics-wise but everything else is shit .
It's living hell.

>Have you played this game? Did you like it? Why?
Yes. Yes. Because the gameplay is some of the best I've seen in an action-RPG and the magic is actually awesome, as opposed to being relegated to 3 versions of a fireball spell and some shit that buffs your weapon like in most other games in the genre. The atmosphere is also really great at times and the pawns are cool.

THEY HAVE THE ADVANTAGE
THEY HAVE THE ADVANTAGE

No that is further north. It sounds like the the fortress further to the West where the Goblin Commander holes up. Which you clear as a story mission.

You can try it again.

The other place you are thinking of doesn't even get blocked off. There are a few ways around it. You will know that place when you run into the misandrist female bandits.

...

>665
>Guts is the neighbor of the beast

But yes. The game is one big bundle of wasted potential thanks to Capcom.

Part of me wants them to do a Mon Hun game like this, but the other part of me knows that is a terrible idea because they would fuck it into the ground like they did with this.

Controller hands down.

Controller.

It is playable with KB&M, but it is really well mapped for a controller.

The Inventory system is annoying regardless of which you use.

M+KB controls are pretty good in this game but controller is superior.

What's going on in this image?

>Fast traveling

No thanks, i literally walk everywhere. I keep on me if i need to port to a town to offload stuff. Once in a while i will port back to town if i've walked all the way to the end of the map.

Bought it on Steam, is it just me or is the start really difficult? I keep dying like shit

i made a mage but then the spells would charge up but wouldnt actually cast no matter what button i pressed and endud up getting raped by wolves fuck this game buggy as piece of shit

Looks like where someone has mapped out where they put all their portcrystals.

If only because there is one down there at Bloodwater Beach. Which is a smart thing to do.

On normal or Hard mode?

Are you playing on hard?

The beginning can be quite challenging depending on the vocation you picked but by the end of the main story you're basically a God. After that you'll have Bitterblack Island to finish where you'll get your shit kicked in again.

It is difficult to start. Especially if you use a bow due to shit damage. Soon you'll be gleefully running down gobbos and skull fucking cyclopes though.

There are a few places near the start with enemies a bit beyond your level, in the sewers beneath Cassardis and in the hills to the west on the way to the Forbidden Woods

How's life going DSP?

Why are they placed so that you can directly see others? Why are there lines between some?
Portcrystals don't even work that way, the image makes no sense...
