>In under half a year we'll have the newest 'true' entry into the classic Sonic formula
How are we feeling about Sonic Mania at the moment, Sonicbros? Haven't seen much talk about it lately.
In under half a year we'll have the newest 'true' entry into the classic Sonic formula
>no Switch version
>no Vita version
This game deserves to be portable. It's not fair.
There will be talking when we get more news like about new stages or mechanics.
I think even Renegade Kid offered to port it to 3DS, this game really does need to be portable.
I didn't realize the Drop Dash replaced the Insta-Shield.
Not too fond of that. Also I feel like they updated Knuckles and Tails's sprite sets more than Sonic's. And I wish Sonic's sprite was based more on Sonic 3 than Sonic 1. And he's the wrong color (Knuckles too).
Yeah but then they got swallowed up by some other company and never got the chance.
Also was it Renegade Kid?
I didn't like Sonic 3's sprite. It looked fat and doofy. Liked the animations though.
And Sgea's been going with that light bluish classic Sonic things for a while now.
The popular theory going around is that Sonic Mania hasn't been announced on the Switch because it's a download-only title. SEGA obviously have dev-kits for the Switch (since Project 2017 is coming to it) but they probably have no idea how the online infrastructure of it works just yet. It's certainly not out of the ordinary for Nintendo to leave devs in the dark about such things.
Basically, Mania on Switch will probably happen, it's just been cockblocked into a later release because of how sketchy Nintendo is whenever they have a new console in production.
it can't be a "true" entry if its rehashing old zones.
maybe we'll get lucky after mania and sega will let them create a game with only new zones
I'm completely okay with rehash zones AS LONG AS there's at least 6-9 new zones. If there's enough new zones to effectively make a full-blown Sonic game by themselves, then I'm all for them padding the game out with some retreads, especially given how Taxman called GHZ Act 1 the "most tame" of all the rehashes, and even that saw significant changes.
I'm more excited for the new sonic generations, honestly.
Odds are that won't happen.
Their unwillingness to let go of nostalgia is what's going to fuel the future of the franchise. It's sad especially because this just reaffirms everyone's skepticism of Sonic, with people shouting shit like, "Let go of the past. Sonic was never good".
Sega dedicating themselves to Mania would have at least quelled some of that, but instead they have it as an offshoot in case their "actual" game does poorly.
I'm okay with reusing old zones if only because I like to hear reorchestrated themes.
>no Vita version
>tfw sonic's only Vita game is a multiplat racer
The Green Hill remix sounded kind of shit though. Which is surprising considering Tee Lopes, actually made as really dame good one.
I want Amy.
generations had 9 zones and this is supposedly longer. even if there are more rehashed zones than new ones I have hope we'll get a decent amount
Was excited until I saw green hill in the original trailer
Was excited for 2017 until I saw classic sonic in that trailer
Will end up getting neither at this point, fuck im starving for a new sonic game but I guess ill have to keep waiting.
I can't wait for this game
Been playing Sonic 1, CD, 2 and 3K so much since this was announced, need it fucking already
Has Sega ever said why they refuse to port S3&K to anything? Sonic 1 and 2 Taxman remakes are now on Steam, mobile and 3DS but Sega acts like S3&K doesn't exist. Is it licensing problems witb the music?
I believe they can port the existing game, but they can't remake it with its original music
>It's 2D
>Meanwhile the 3D title is going to be shit because it's generations 2, ala "2.5D fun"
I'm dead inside
No, they probably never will. I'm pretty sure it goes deeper than the music, but they'll probably never actually explain why. Which is sad, because, with improved screen ratio and touched up physics (maybe a couple of level edits here and there), that game would be literally perfect!
Well the other sanic game is coming out on the Switch so I guarantee this one will eventually.
2.5D isnt a problem
Classic sonic being in the game automatically locking 50% of the game to 2D is the problem here. They need 2 sonics, modern sonic can have 2.5D now and then in his levels and the other character is fully 3D
Same shit happened with the psp. Port Rush over? Nah lets just make not one but TWO shitty side scrolling racing games.
It's been ported to the Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360, DS, Wii Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam.
As for a taxman remake its probably the music since confirmation that MJ worked on it came out after the latest port of the game.
Considering we haven't had an actual 3D Sonic game that was good, I'd say it is a problem. Why don't they just give Sonic Team some pet sim shit to work on and let an actual dev handle Sonic.
Kill yourself
At least it had this to somewhat make up for it. Vita only got one.
It's going to be good that's why sega will never make another one
theres colors and generations, both of which are just okay to good.
>colors and generations
>actual 3D
Incredibly optimistic
Not only about this, but project 2017 as well.
When will this fucking creature die?
well then there are no good 3D sonics
I guess but once you just start using your psp as an emulator station it kinda makes it useless. Especially since you can play S3&K that way.
don't bully Iizuka-san
no matter how bad his dental plan is
