So apparently according to a doctor I have severe depression, paranoia, and anxiety. You guys have any ideas for games that will help? I really don't want to go on medication.

Why don't you want to go on medication? It'll help you.
SOMA
But for real you might like Ori and the Blind Forest, its pretty comfy and the production value is really high
Also, why not go on medication? what are the side effects?
Not OP but don't you become completely dependent on them and can never get off them?
If you're in the U.S. be careful of psychiatrists. Even if they mean well there's a big industry that dopes up unsuspecting regular people in order to get bigger profits. Another thing is the American lifestyle bringing massive amounts of stress to the individual. Neurasthenia, the difficulties of the body through the heart, blood pressure, and mood; has even been coined Americanitis.
Depends on what they are.
Animal Crossing
Whats so different about America compared to other countries?
shut up
Would a paranoid man accept advice from strangers?
Sorry, just thought I'd help.
I'm a lifetime druggie myself.
If it lets you live your life like you want it, then go for it. I'm 2 months in and I'm loving it.
>Also, why not go on medication? what are the side effects?
My mother went on medication for depression back when my grandfather was dying. I learned recently while on it she had a suicide attempt. My father told me after I revealed to him my diagnosis while drunk. He told me be very careful and not to tell my mother.
It has worsened enormously since I began living alone. I realized I was bad beyond the norm when I began having to hide on the job to sob and when I began having serious contemplation of suicide.

Just take into account that I'm telling you to be careful of what psychiatrist you have. If your doctor truly believed you have a mental illness that must be treated than at least takes some steps that'll help you.
Americans today have an unhealthy lifestyle that makes them more susceptible to disease. The unhealthy fast work pace, rapid change in technology that makes it hard for them to adapt to the new tech, and very few vacation days that means the stress they have will continue to pile up. The image of the hard working American that must never have his hands be idle means even if they do have a chance to relax, they'll replace work with labor such as construction.
As I mentioned above, if the doctor truly believes you need help, then try and find a caring psychiatrist. If it doesn't work out or if you feel they're not helping enough. Find a new one.
I'm not on my desktop but on a mobile phone, so I can't show you any journals from databases. Although if you google Americanitis then the top google results should get you started.
Is it true that for meds you become dependant and you start building tolerance and need more and more of it? That's scary if true.
I said shut up
XCOM: The board game
single player mode
Medication can do wonders, you just gotta be sure to find the one that fits you.
A lot of people try a medication, get turned off since it doesnt work/has undesirable side effects and give up on medication. You gotta work with your doctor to find a drug that works for you. Hopefully your doctor isnt a paid shill who only prescribes the drug that bought them out.
That's usually only if you use it so much that you become addicted to the drug. If given at the proper dosage, then you can become even more sensitive to the drug. Kind of like a reverse tolerance effect.
No.
Alien Isolation
>paranoid
>medic tells you to take medications
>you don't trust him because he might be only trying to make you a drug addicted to make some money
>will never get better
You're fucked OP,we're fucked...
Persona 4 with a side of Katawa Shoujo.
This. The right med can help a lot. Sertraline really helped with my depression and anxiety.
>The unhealthy fast work pace, rapid change in technology that makes it hard for them to adapt to the new tech, and very few vacation days
Why do you think that a group of people all act and live the same way? I can assure I know several Americans that sit on their ass all day and several Europeans that spend all day working their ass off while stressed.
Can I get my psychiatrist to prescribe me pain medicine?
I don't feel depressed or anxious at all when I'm high on Percocet but all those psych drugs don't do a damn thing.
I'm currently sitting on a ragnarok online server playing solo and feeling miserable.
I haven't felt true genuine happiness in a long time. I am probably going to kill myself soon. I wish games still hooked me and gave me pleasure but its waning so fast now.
I'm on celexa, risperdal and lithium and it does nothing.
fuck this gay earth
Not usually, no.
Are you in one of the state with legal pot.
How ironic is it that I win every time I play
No but it's never stopped me
If you want to die that means you are actually losing, not winning.
Video games aren't going to help you if you have diagnosed depression. You need to take medication because your brain is imbalanced.
Hey Sup Forums, I have cancer but don't really want to go through Chemo can someone recommend me a game to play instead?
That dragon, cancer
>i have no mouth and i must scream
Based game, but not good for comfy.
these goddamn chinese sodomites.
This is a big problem that the U.S. has user. It's not just a generalization, buy it affects many Americans. I understand what you're saying, but I am discussing the negative effects that the average American has. The American Psychological Association has monitored this phenomena. Even when Americans have been polled on their experiences as tourists/business workers to other countries, one thing a majority discussed was the more relaxed nature of certain foreign people/businesses. It's just a negative byproduct of being an industrialised super power. China has been having the same problem too because of their rapid industrialisation practices back in the 1990s.
Depression Quest
that game was such utter shit I'm so glad I managed to get a refund at 2 and a half hours
How could you post here if you won?
Its like the reverse lottery.
play silent hill shattered memories, it'll cheer you up.
do you work at IGN?
No I work in the real world where we have decent games that don't have to rely on fake ass """"""atmosphere""""""
What about this?
holy fuck a six second spaceship cryostasis underwear trope
yep that totally justifies the "gameplay" where all you do is open doors or find stuff to open other doors
the story is a mess, you actually resolve the fucking entire plot in the first 2 hours and it drags it out for another ~14 or so apparently
>you will never be as salty as this guy
i think it's dependent on the person, i personally never developed an adderall addiction or addiction to my anti-depressant. if at any point you feel that you are developing one, just consult your doctor.
If you read the posts you'll find out that I'm actually "glad I refunded it at 2.5 hours"
I've heard Yume Nikki is good. Anyone care to confirm?
I've also heard about Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea but nothing certain so opinions on this one would be appreciated.
yume is pretty chill
Define chill
>I'm on celexa, risperdal and lithium and it does nothing.
Have you tried going to a psychologist and not just a pill-pusher?
Please respond
I see both a psychologist and a psychiatrist. So yes I've tried everything. I've been on over 30 different medications in my life time. I don't know what the fuck to do anymore short of killing myself or shooting up heroin.
Its relaxing and atmospheric and really makes you think(tm)
I'd be happier if you killed yourself
That makes two of us but I need to continue living for others at this point.
So kind...
So selfless...
Oh god I really want to be friends with you and just give you huggles and tell you everything is going to be okay.....
Why don't you get a fucking grip and stop wallowing in your own worthless self pity.
I'll play PoE, D2, Civ, Endless Legends, or something with you if you want a multiplayer. Thats what I play when my depression or anxiety kicks up.
Or smoke some dope if I'm being real. Might not help with your paranoia I guess. Helps my anxiety and depression...
