Spoiler-heavy thread
Anybody wanna discuss the story?
I am currently in a light depression because of the way the story goes. I was really emotionally invested in the characters long before the game came out, and i could not imagine a more interesting world.
At this point i have even written a continuation of the story from before it goes to shit just to try and deal with it.
It helps a lot
btw. I am a crybaby and a pussy, in case you couldn't tell.

did you finish the game already?
Yeah, got it on the 25. spent around 30 hours on it at a casual pace in the beginning
Where does your story break off from the game?
I'm guessing chapter 9, that's where everything goes to shit
So, what do you guys think actually happened at the end?
I think that the bros survived somehow. People think they died because they appeared next to Noctis and Regis in the Beyond, but they were merely illusions considering Regis was absorbed by Noctis and that Ardyn shakes his head and has a double-take, realizing they aren't there. It's to show Noctis isn't truly alone while fighting Ardyn.
Noctis and Luna are Astrals. They have ascended and have become one with the Stars, a feat Ardyn had wished would happen but he was cursed with immortality and rejected by the Stars.
Yeah, somewhere around there, at the point where leviathan disappears. I don't really remember numbers of the chapters
I think the bros are okay, seems like it before noct goes into the throneroom for the last time.
and about them becoming astrals, did not consider that
I thought that beyond was just inside the crystal or something, seemed to be just like when Noctis was in there.
But I choose to believe that the bros are still alive
People keep saying it's a bullshit theory, but it has some merit to it.
Think about it:
Ardyn was the first King of Lucis. All Kings must have an Oracle appointed to them. Given how Ardyn talks to Gentiana on the train, it seems that he's known her before her death as a mortal - when she was an Oracle.
In fact, Ardyn can recall the exact face she made when she died, implying that Ardyn could have possibly murdered her at some point.
Gentiana becoming Shiva and Bahamut mentioning Ardyn's jealousy at not being able to ascend due to his immortality and his being tainted by daemons (since Ifrit created the daemons by turning on the Astrals and was the one who caused the original Plague of the Stars) means it's entirely possible for mortals to become Astrals.
I'm not sure if the lady on the logo is still meant to be Etro, but if it is, then it means Luna was destined to become Etro.
What did you think of Ardyn?
I found him to be an interesting villain with a cool personality for most of the game after it was revealed he was the mainguy, but found his motivatins to be boring and lackluster. The part about him being the first king was kinda nice
I think the Beyond IS inside the Crystal, but the Stars is not. The Lucis bloodline is connected to the Crystal. When they die, it seems their souls are pulled into the Crystal.
However, Ardyn is essentially spit back out due to his being tainted by daemons and forced to live eternally. It's why Noctis chases him down and erases his existence with KOTR.
Yeah, there you have the book-cover theory as well.
Some guys say the supposed oracle in the back is gentiana because she's holding gentiana-flowers. If thats the case then that makes sense.
but it seems to be bahamut giving him the crystal though.
Ardy was okay, a kinda good villain in a bad game i think.
but FUCK that chapter 13 with 3 hours of god damn hallway seriously
I think he was well done.
This is a guy who saved the entire world from turning into daemons. When his time came, he was rejected from being able to use the Crystal and could not ascend to the Stars. He was also ostracized by the people he saved. It seems like in one of the art-books(?), Ardyn is being chained up to a ceiling, practically naked. For all we know, he could have been tortured for years and experimented on in order to gain the secrets to immortality or the power to control daemons or how he removes the plague.
His goal was essentially to undo all the work he did and let the world fend for itself and eradicate the Gods that would not except him alongside the traitorous Ifrit as well as destroying the Crystal and the Lucis line with his own powers.
What are the Stars?
I believe it's essentially the world beyond the Earth, where the Gods reside.
who is going to be the new king if the bloodline is completely dead for good and no one else can use the crystal
I feel like the story was headed in a right direction up to before Tenebrae, but after that i just disliked pretty much everything.
And everything becomes so unclear at the end, and no answers to what is actually happening.
Is everyone dead?
How did Regis write the letter?
A new bloodline may be created.
Ardyn was rejected and some literally who replaced him as the first King of Lucis.
Is the crystal even needed anymore?
The ring breaks as well, so i guess the Lucis line is just gone...
But nobody knows if thats the case?
Is it even proven that the Astrals werent just ther from the beginning?
Yeah, like I said before, pic related is probably Ardyn when people regarded him as their hero for eradicating the Plague. Second pic is when people started turning their backs on him because he has the ability to absorb daemons. The story is good enough, really. But they decided to rush the fuck out of it and killed off the main heroine the moment she gets a proper screentime. The characters other than Noctis weren't fleshed enough and you could say that Luna was almost deleted in the game despite of them advertising her as the poster girl having a huge role in the story. Imagine giving the main villain a flashback of the past where people are torturing him while Somnus plays. That would have been really tragic.
Like most of the people say, the game has a lot of potential but they missed it because of the rushed story and off screen bullshit.
What book is this?
Google is you're friend user, not you're enemy
Fuck, I hated the way they discarded Luna like that holy shit.
A bit more time on everything and it would be fine, a bit more detail.
Even just a bestiary and some detail on how the world works would be fine, but not even that...
...
never seen that book, any downloads?
so that's Gentiana, Ardyn and Bahamut?
I am comfused and angry about everything right now, need some yotsuba i think
Yeah, she gets axed the moment she got her actual screentime. She wasn't even a guest party member like holy shit, just how do you fuck that badly ? No wonder the nips were fucking pissed after finding out what happens in Chapter 9. If you're going to promise that you changed the heroine because the new one has a larger involvement in the main story and will be a guest party member at some point, then fucking do it. I'm just really mad at how they handled her character. Same thing for the other characters such as Cor, Gentiana and the main 3 bros who got off screened as well.
Someone who got their UCE uploaded some pics from the artbook. This one is the newest art i've seen. Pretty sure there are more lore related arts there but no one has uploaded it yet.
Yeah, pretty much, at least that's what it implies. The Oracle in the picture also holds Gentiana flowers.
One more thing I'm curious about
Did the crystal appear at the time the 101th king ruled? Or did they just pick random kings through the ages.
If it started at 101, i seriously overestimated the age of most of this
What do you mean? I think the crystal was already there since the 1st king. It was implied that Ardyn was the first Chosen One until his daemon absorbing ability corrupted his soul.
>Even just a bestiary and some detail on how the world works would be fine, but not even that...
There's a bestiary and some details about the world that pop up on the loading screens that most probably won't see
Crystal and Bahamut were there since the beginning. It chose, or was going to choose, Ardyn and then rejected him because he "associated" (accidentally) with daemons which are connected to Ifrit who is a traitorous scum.
kek
The backstory was really interesting. It's a shame that they didn't address this properly in the game. The Ultimania might but it's really disappointing when you think it didn't fleshed out in the final game. You could say that Gentiana was ignored in the story as well, she basically had the same treatment as Luna even though Tabata says she plays a really huge and important role in the story.
since there are only 13 previous kings showing up and 13 swords, but Regis is king CXIII (113) I assume it begins at king CI (101)
The crystal already exists since the beginning as user said here it's just waiting for the rightful king which is Noctis
So how does the Omen trailer figure into the story? It looked like Noctis would be possessed and shit without the power of friendship. But from what I've heard, thats not even a thing in the actual game.
The Omen trailer got one thing right:
Luna is tied to the day while Noct is tied to the night. Luna's death causes the cycle between day and night to shift to only night, causing daemons to ravage the world and it means that Noct is connected to the daemons.
