ASA rules No Man's Sky Steam page did not mislead consumers

>The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled No Man's Sky's controversial Steam page did not mislead consumers.

>Its decision means screenshots, videos and text currently on the No Man's Sky Steam store page may remain. While the ASA's investigation looked at Steam specifically, its ruling applies to the PlayStation Store, too.

>The ASA had received 23 complaints about No Man's Sky's Steam store page, with most accusing the assets of painting a misleading picture of Hello Games' space title.

>The ASA's ruling is based upon Hello Games' assertion that No Man's Sky is a procedurally generated game, and so the player experience varies from playthrough to playthrough.

>"The summary description of the game made clear that it was procedurally generated, that the game universe was essentially infinite, and that the core premise was exploration," the ASA said.

>"As such, we considered consumers would understand the images and videos to be representative of the type of content they would encounter during gameplay, but would not generally expect to see those specific creatures, landscapes, battles and structures."

I don't know what people were expecting. The ASA can't issue fines and they would have only told Hello Games to take the screenshots on the Steam page down, should they have found anything wrong. Valve are now also asking devs to use actual screenshots and not concept art/renders on Steam.

I am surprised however about just the amount of depth the ASA went into to make its judgement

NOOOOO
WHY DO WE ALWAYS LOSE
ITS NOT FAIR

Wtf? I hate ASA now!

Now, will the No Man's Sky hate stop please?

samefagging this hard

If Colonial Marines wasn't considered false advertisement, I don't know what people were expecting with this.

This.

Nice try.
inb4 I was just pretending to be retarded

The steam page also didn't have the other videos or interviews where Sean Murray lied his fucking ass off so of course the ASA only looked at the STEAM page.

>ASA rules No Man's Sky Steam page did not mislead consumers
>it literally did before valve made them change it

This world is so broken.

>procedurally generated game

Like, if you're lucky it will procedurally generate multiplayer support?

>HOLY SHIT LMAO

Remember to report falseflagging shitposting.

Waste of time anyway consumers should and can act on their own. A company that fucks up this bad will pay the price eventually because they destroy their reputation.

Hahah
Epic neme web page you got there lad XDD
mind if i post it on reddit?

So I can basically say anything as long as it's procedurally generated exploration and get away with it? Sweet.

There are still people who refuse to accept the findings of an organization that is charged with identifying false advertising claims.

"The game didn't live up to my expectations? The game lied.

The ASA didn't support my own interpretation of the game? The ASA is wrong. "

Grow up.

Like I have been preaching, I came late to the game but I got everything that I had read about and was told was going to be in it, really no shock here. Too many folks got wrapped up in the over hyped game and expected something else. - Or really over read way too much into what was on the plate.

Lesson for the kiddies, life is full of disappointment, its going to happen, good thing is this is just a game.

Wouldn't be surprised if steam and Sony had bribed the ASA to avoid making themselves look bad

They advertised the game with so many features that were flat out not there its a fucking lie from the start

Their arguments are downright retarded, I don't care if it's ASA or a UN committee.

Not till its $30 dollars

If they had just released at $30 dollars no one would have batted an eye

Fuck off boot licker

They advertised the game with multi-player features. IT HAD NO MULTI PLAYER FEATURES

The conclusions are flat out wrong, same shit as the Hillary email scandal. Fucking director commie said it himself "we found she did a lot of illegal things but we're not going to prosecute her"

Anyone still have that "fixed" box image for it?

I never paid attention to all the media with No Man's Sky, I knew what the game was going to be about, i didn't follow the hype but I did buy it day one and it's exactly what I got and expected from NMS. Overall, I was cool with the game and still play it to this day.

I agree with them !! People make all sorts of complaints and I am glad they ruled in favor of Hello Games here ! Just because the Game wasn't as you liked/hoped does not mean you were lied to !!

After NMS was announced I felt as if there were people who took what Sean Murray was describing and created their own game with expectations based on that game.

They glorified a product that was never there. At some point the consumer has to be accountable.

>the consumer is responsible for the lies the developer told them

multiplayer

>Sup Forums was wrong again

Delicious schadenfreude.

This is good.
This only hurts retarded people that don't deserve money

doesn't really matter

nobody is buying this shit anyways at this point
