What's the most obscure/weirdest hidden gem video game you've ever played?
What's the most obscure/weirdest hidden gem video game you've ever played?
Pathologic has recently been getting a bit more attention and isn't too obscure anymore but I still withhold that it's one of the most fitting examples of the term hidden gem.
Pathologic's no gem. The writing is nice but the gameplay is no good. People give it leeway since it's sort of odd and foreign and indie but it's downright not okay.
Zineth is one of the weirdest, coolest games I ever played
DG is literally a fucking meme (muh dark and meaningful lyrics)
It's bad that you can't take them seriously because of the fucking meme shouthing
Just finished Deadly Premonition
>quirky atmosphere completely disappears at the back end and it actually starts feeling like a horror game
>genuine tension as things are building up to the climax
>suddenly drops a pun out of fucking nowhere amidst one of the most distressing scenes in vidya
>still reeling when the TWEEST hits moments later
One of the worst pc ports of all time but the ride was worth it
I haven't really played anything truly obscure.
I think the least famous game I've played is soul blazer or live a live.
Pathologic is a gem if you play it right.
P.N.03 but I don't mind repetitive gameplay. That shit's obscure.
I haven't played many Weird games, come to think about it.
I didnt find it pretty weird, but was awesome anyway
Lethal Application, which is inspired by SASA, another obscure game. It's tons of fun.
A Warsaw pact anti-aircraft battery simulator, but played is a big word, I couldn't understand shit.
I don't know how big of a hit it was at the time but I was gifted Herdy Gerdy as a kid and had a blast playing it.
Right after the tutorial mission, it's "oh hey I'm on the moon" and the entire game is about playing a Pokemon cellphone minigame so you can get good enough to beat a hawk at it before he takes you to his nest, that way you can mind-control him to fly you into the shuttle launch tunnel so you can grind up to the moon and complete the first objective
Lost ethereal was amazing; smoothie galaxy; shrubnaut. Itch is full of 'em OP
No One Can Stop Mr.Domino is pretty gud.
I never see enough talk about Digimon Rumble Arena. I pulled some insane moves in that one back in the day.
Minecraft

There are tons of units to play as and it's a fun action game with light strategy elements
EYE, though it's not obscure by Sup Forums standards
Didn't see this posted often.
Basicly Rainbow Six with tons of gadgets and a police theme. You can arrest people and have to restrain the civilians too (and they all complain about this). You also have operation rules to follow, for example you can't shoot anyone until you're under fire.
It's pretty fucking good, all the shit you get to play around with kinda make things too easy at first, but the later missions throw disturbingly crazy (and heavily armed) people at you.
It's also very hard. Damage is kind realistic, so you won't survive a shotgun blast if you're closer than 10 meters.
The multiplayer is where it really shines, but good luck getting 4 other people to play with you on lan, cause the internet servers are gone with gamespy.
Okage, followed by Herdy Gerdy. Both really good and Okage had me in stitches first time I played it
Who's the best digimon and why is it Veemon?
The Red Star

I am thoroughly convinced that no one has played this game. It's a shame too if you are looking for a difficult hack n' slash that also feels like a shoot 'em up. Either way, if you can play the game. It's fantastic.
I played this weird japanese game called Persona 3
Ended up really enjoying it surprisingly
Reverie under the moonlight is obscure right?
>Hidden gem
Reminder people you can play this online with a pirated version.
Skyrim
It's a gem but with 2000 reviews on steam it's not exactly obscure.
HellMOO.
Mostly due to player interactions, for example you'd have the DRS apartment redecorating crew, who would break into the apartments of newbies and reverse-rob them by tidying the place up and leaving nice furniture behind.
Or people who'd ambush other players with a shotgun to their face and just demand their pants.
Real shame that now, admins who hate PvP have taken over and the whole shebang has turned into a chatroom instead of an actual game. It was nice while it lasted.
People played it, they just played it years ago. We had threads here on Sup Forums about it, it's how I found out about it and then went and bought it.
Don't really know if you would call it a "gem", but "Tlon: A Misty Story" is probably one of the most obscure games I had:
Nowhere near as meta as Renamon or Gatomon.
...
Maybe not a cut gem because the core gameplay wasn't marvelous and the balance was far from perfect but the idea of crafting your army to suit your own playstyle in an RTS is something that has plenty of potential imo and hasn't really been explored outside of this and Genewars (which had significantly less variety and even worse gameplay). So maybe I'd class it as an uncut hidden gem.
NOBODY EVER PLAYED DIS
It's a Dinosaurs Myst Game. Lost Eden ain't even on GOG or Dos archives.
dark souls 3
...
you can buy this on steam now
I'd still have the cd for this at my parents house.
Hookerfucker
...
Holy shit this
Elona+ probably. It has a pretty active general on /jp/ though so it's not that obscure.
Otherwise it's
but I've also seen that mentioned on Sup Forums a bunch of times.
There's also Jelly no Puzzle, the best puzzle game that isn't made by Zachtronics.
Opoona
the meme shouting and instrumentation are the only strong points
gp and notm are their best releases
nobody except me knows that op posted this image as a death grips reference
>seen that mentioned on Sup Forums a bunch of times
it was me
Powerslave for the Playstation is absolutely amzing, pretty much a 90s FPS Metroid Prime.
...
If Swery came out with a Kickstarter for more D4 I would drop like a hot 50$ on that despite the generally bad idea that is supporting a kickstarter. We're reaching levels of blueballing i thought weren't even possible.
I noticed it.
I just didn't think acknowledging it was necessary.
>that lower right corner
As a non-burger, I thought that the Sovereign Citizen movement was comedy. Turns out it's not.
I've never seen this gem disscussed over here
Fixed it for you.
...
It might as well be.

>Tower Unite
It isn't a great game per se, but the social aspect is great. The condos look really nice, and you can decorate the shit out of them. The level of detail you can get is astounding, and it seems like one of the few kickstarter/early access games that's actually going somewhere. The minigames are functional, but there are only four of them so far. The casino is pretty cool, you have texas hold 'em with other players, video poker, three different kinds of slot machine (Grand Quest is the easiest to make money off of), blackjack, and a game called double or nothing. The bowling is pretty fun, too. Laser tag should be finished before the year is out. If you have an extra 15 bucks or it's on sale pick it up, i'd say it's worth it.
More D4 needs to happen
>Pathologic's no gem. The writing is nice but the gameplay is no good.
Go kill yourself.
Mad enough to reply three hours later.
This.
This whole entire series desu.
>I clench my fist and beat it
Sounds like Sup Forums's average friday night.
You are a great person. I love shit like that in HellMOO.
I remember being stalked by an abomination player who ruthlessly murdered any other player or NPC I came across, but wouldn't let me out of their sight, back when I first started. I fell off playing it more recently -- there just aren't enough unique and interesting people playing the game. Maybe I should come back and pretend to be cool and appealing so other people will enjoy the game more.
Voodoo vince.
