post screenie of how steam looked in its prime and how it looks now with the endless sea of shovelware and anime shit
Konami is worse.
At least Valve single-handedly saved PC gaming with Steam, even if they don't make video games themselves.
this.
As a gaming company it's done for. As a company, they basically made a platform that prints money.
That's not what is wrong with Valve.
it's not just about not making games anymore,it's also about how they treat their existing games
i.e csgo and tf2
they really need to do something with the "work on whatever you want" thing
you have to make games before you can actually fall
You're saying that their interest in 'minimization' that's only akin to Youtube isn't what's wrong with them, among other things?
Sell more steam boxes and controllers gaben. Jk no one buys them. Millions spent to r&d and manufacture expensive garbage.
Falling would imply some sort of activity.
Valve hasn't really done anything in a long time. It's just lying dormant.
To be honest I'm fine with that.
>Make way more money not making video games
>Somehow this is a fall from grace to this over dramatic retard
Konami has always been 90% health clubs and pachinko machines. they were never a videogame company.
I mean it's not a problem that there is more games on Steam, even if it brings average quality down. I'm not a baby, I can choose what games I like without someone else deciding for me.
>saved
Haha
Maybe so. But they were a video game company for people who play video games and have no interest in pachinko shit. And they actually used to be pretty good at making games too. That's what makes it so much worse.
DS4 controller support when.
I picked up a steam controller for $40. it's really nice actually. i don't use it for anything in my steam library so far but the customization is fantastic for emulators which is what i bought it for in the first place
I guess it's true what they say
you die as a hero or live long enough to become a villain
so true for valve
Just look at their Dota 2 tips they gave the players for creating new stuff and then look at the garbage immersion ruining cosmetics we have now
There are only few really bad cosmetics for Dota2, as far as I know. The Drow with cat ears? What garbage immersion ruining cosmetics are you talking about?
>Ursa wearing traditional german clothes
OMG IMMERSION BREAKING TO SILLY PLS REMOVE
>shitload of heroes wear generic chinese clothes
Perfectly acceptable
not so much immersion but hero signature look and recognition on the first glance
On top of it they put cosmetic updates over content updates.
Idiotic automatic mute and ban systems in place. I mean they actually MUTE people and then put them in games with people who are not muted ruining games for both.
How do you play dota muted>? It's the most team game of them all and yet they put you muted in a regular game.
you have to be a pretty toxic piece of shit to be muted in the first place, but really if you're muted obviously you should be taking a bitch seat and doing whatever your team tells you until it's over, or you're probably gonna have a bad time.
>not so much immersion but hero signature look and recognition on the first glance
Wonderful. Why did you say 'immersion ruining' previously?
>How do you play dota muted?
We never use in-game chat. We use Discord to talk to each other.
...
What grace? Valve only made one good game and Ricochet. Everything else was outsourced or just a mod they bought and packaged for sale to idiots who can't install a mod.
Dota2 was made from scratch at valve.
Ignoring that CSGO is a paid title, I don't see what's wrong with either, including dota. They give each game actual updates every so often and who gives a shit if they accept hats made by users on a monthly basis. Though I will say that quite a bit of cosmetics now don't fit the theme of their game and is quite disheartening.
>gloves
>everyone throws a shit fit
Despite it being a silly cosmetic memed into existence, who gives a shit? They've been redoing all the maps like every 6months now. Slow pace, but what kind of update do you honestly expect out of it?
The only thing Valve did was sell cosmetics, if people didn't want their games to be full of them then they wouldn't pay for it.
Hopefully selling boxes of random items will be classified as gambling since they hold a real-world value
this little segment of the video explains whats wrong with valve
Who gives a shit if they bought a team to work on an idea? It went from an enjoyable hobby project to a enjoyable commercial product with high polish.
The only thing they actually outsourced in the past 10 years was blueshift and csgo. Ironically, hiddenpath did so bad that Valve basically redid csgo.
Early 2000s EA was GOAT
Now look at them
Despite being Bethesda's bitch now, Nu-Doom turned out okay.
...
I don't know. I played it for 1-2 hours and then never came back. It's not very entertaining, despite not having obvious flaws.
How did they fall? They literally made only two games, and now they're fucking rich.
>single-handedly saved PC gaming with Steam
>they became turbo jews
At what costs, user?
>you have to be a pretty toxic piece of shit to be muted in the first place
No you don't. All you need is to speak english on EU servers and have the russian team report you for not speaking russian. ANd then after that it's all automated.
>valve
>bad
They did not become turbo jews, rather it could've only been done by turbo jews.
>valve is famous now
>i have to hate it
-contrarian Sup Forums
>Valvedrones still exist
naughty Dog
Rareware
>Has there been a bigger fall from grace in the gaming industry?
YES
I miss all those in game holiday events they did. Now they just focus on esports & newer ways to jew cosmetics in general these days. Customs games are meh since Top 10 list fucked any new mods being produced
>millions
That's where you're wrong
They literally just used linux as a barebones os and left the manufacturing to companies like alienware
They were never all in. The controller turned a profit
They hardly focus on esports. They throw the money they made into the prize pool, pay some 3rd party to host and manage everything, and sell some sort of tournament item that they hardly put work into to make millions.
Customs has a lot of reasons and I genuinely hope that in 2 weeks they do something about it. The biggest problem with it all is that in [current year] there's multiple commercial engines that you can make your shitty custom map idea in an actual game. So nobody plays it in customs and nobody plays it if you make it with UE4.
2nd. They need to provide a ton more assets or make it far easier to share them. That's one major benefit of using Dota2 over UE4/Unity/etcetc.
3rd. Scripting events in dota2 is actually pretty shitty. Everything about this was made by programmers for programmers and that's a problem. They have to appeal to a bigger audience to show "Hey it's not so hard to make your own custom game!"
4th. They don't even help encourage people to make customs. They could do so much to encourage people, but instead it's a circlejerk of the same top 10 as you said which in it of itself is a problem. SC2 I believe got rid of it and it improved the scene. To counter argue this, they did do something to encourage people with the passes. Spend $1 and get some bonuses, but was it good enough? Definitely not.
>ITT: Poorfags
HTC Vive is fucking amazing and Valve's next VR Game might be their greatest work yet.
And yes the hardware is far from perfect, the screendoor effect is still present the headwear is heavy, but the fact it works so incredibly well at such an early stage is fucking amazing.
VR is the future and Valve has done it better than anyone could possibly anticipate.
...
>turbo jews
You mean like forcing people to pay a 60 dollar sub just to play their games online like soiyn introduced to their users this gen?
Or limiting the editing of game files to where you can't even mod beth games by importing custom files while you can on the xbone and run scripts on pc? Nah that's sony's area of expertise
Valve also allows other resellers to sell keys that work on their storefront meaning you can pick up new releases at 35 dollars whereas sony/ms does not
"Falling", they make shit ton of money doing nothing
This. Half Life 3 will never be on the level of the hype an announcement would create.
You are pretty new to this whole video game thing if you don't remember the old days of Nintendomination and the hubris that led to their fall from the top.
Big fall? Have they ever been so big, that they could have a big fall? As far as I know they never made much money on their games.
and atari before them
jewood fucked them in the ass you fucking mongrel
...
They're not in the gaming industry anymore, they're just a software distributor.
Valve stopped being a game company when Gabe left the dev team.
...
This.
Anyone who thinks Gaben is bad probably doesn't remember the sheer rage Kotick could produce whenever he opened his mouth.
They aren't about making games as much as they are pushing technology.
PC gaming has been modernized and I doubt people here would own half the titles they did if not for steam.
The vive is a competitor for the oculus and as such they compete for a better product and which will also down the price since its not a single market
Their controller is different and whist I cant comment on it personally, friends has recommended picking it up when (or if) I need to replace my x360 one.
I wonder if they'll ever do alien swarm 2 on the new engine with workshop support.
Valve shilldrone fuck off
Valve saved PC Gaming while Blizzard single handed killed RTS and MMOs.
What did they save it from?
yea, peter moly
user you really need to be welcoming of other peoples opinions and actually come up with your own. Just because someone has a positive look at things doesn't necessarily mean their a shill.
Besides, how many games do you own on steam as compared to other platforms?
Would you rather facebook get more money for a worse headset?
What controller do you use?
Did you ever have enough friends to play alien swarm?
>subscriptions
>2012
Steam purchases have been subscriptions since day 1. It's just that nobody paid attention to it and anyone who said "Steam is bad" and "don't buy Half Life 2" was declared a lunatic.
