I enjoyed NV at the time, but couldn't go back and enjoy it now after Fallout 4. The game is fundamentally flawed with it's combat, all of the RPG elements, which essentially link back to your combat, are almost pointless because all youre gonna do is spam VATs to beat every enemy. It also has zero challenge, you're gonna have the opportunity to kill about 10-15 deathclaws in the first couple of hours of the game which you can easily kill from distance, and will face no further challenge after that.

Good at the time, wouldn't touch it now....

Every game based around Bethesda's modified Gamebryo engine has the same flaw and the only thing keeping anyone playing any of them is either that their worlds are interesting or that they're the only "Open world first-person RPG" titles that even go as far as having inventory management and leveling up.

Thanks for making feel super old, as I still consider NV a new game and my rig can struggle to run it at certain points. Anything after 2009. is a new game by my standards.

Mainly due to having played FO4 since, I can still enjoy games from the 90's without any forced nostalgia, but I couldn't go back and enjoy NV after having played 4, because the fundamental issues would be too glaring.

It's not flash. And it's pretty good. Graphically the mechs look better, and more detailed. The backgrounds and overall look are pretty sparse, but that's because it's a 6 dollar game, not a 60 dollar game like Valken.

Not true, the combat was considerably improved. VATs can't be cheesed to defeat each enemy and freeze time. Customisation of weapons in 4 makes it so that your weapon choices reflect your play style, where in NV everyone has the same guns at end game.

Almost all perk trees in NV relate back to combat, even if it's lockpicking because you pick locks for loot which you use in combat.Given that the combat is so fundamentally flawed, I see the RPG elements of building up your relevant perks are almost pointless.

Caps are also a useless commodity, because you can just cheat in the casino by saving and play each casino to get caps (or at least until you get blocked by all casinos, by which time you've made as many cpas as you'd need for basically the entire game).

NV was good at the time but could never go back to it after 4.

Shantae isn't bad, and at least it is fun to play.
I wish they'd give the exploration platformer a bit more focus in the games, although it seems they're moving more towards straight platformer with recent games.

I much prefer Wayforward's puzzle platformer games (Mighty Switch Force) to their Shantae series, though.
