Was it really that bad?
Was it really that bad?
worse
It'll never see a sequel.
Yes, and then some.
Was Amikrog good?
Apparently no. Never played it though.
You can tell from the art sehs american. Fell right into the "unique" artstyle meme
Oh no, it was better than nothing.
not really
Yes. It has massive technical issues. For one it runs like shit on a good pc. Mine can play MGSV at 60fps but this fucking game has stuttering all the time and frame skips.
As for the game itself? Whatever. Just forget it. it's completely unremarkable. We got our hopes up for nothing. Inafune was a con man. He's no creator.
There's any number of quality platformers you could get, or even Mega man clones. Hopefully Rozenkruzestillette gets released on steam soon. It was supposed to come out in Spring.
3rd world games are cheating. Dreadout is Indonesian. They got 29,000 via crowd sourcing. It looks like a pretty good PS2 game in an emulator. I like the art style a lot. Has a lot of charm. I don't know if the crowd sourcing is the final budget for the game or just part of it.
Certainly looks better than the MN9 train wreck.
I have promised myself I will own a legit copy of this game and will beat it. But I refuse to pay more than 4 dollars.
First game I ever refundend.
No hot spot indication, no reaction of the player character that you did something wrong (fuck, even text adventures gave you a "I can't do this" reply), no visible inventory, recycled puzzles, bugged audio, voices that sound like they were recorded in a garbage can, saving and loading is in the options menu, cases where the game can become unwinnable, no humor, barely any actual claymation etc.
Probably the two worst things were the baby lullaby puzzles and the octopus elevators.
The first has you arrange a melody in the correct order through trial and error while a baby constantly cries in the background and the second one requires you to click on an alien octopus on a ceiling while playing as the blind dog character to create a psychic link with it.
There's absolutely no indication that you can or have to do that and the only way to find that out is to randomly click on the screen like an idiot.
The most amusing thing about this was some user who actually immediately DID click on the octopus because he knew the dog was psychic.
How?
Because the audio quality of the intro song was so poor that he misheard "sidekick" as "psychic".
yes
>No hot spot indication
>no reaction of the player character
>bugged audio
>cases where the game can become unwinnable
>baby lullaby puzzles
I think they patched all these
>no visible inventory
>no humor
>barely any actual claymation
I went in expecting something similar to The Neverhood so this didn't really bother me
>recycled puzzles
>voices that sound like they were recorded in a garbage can
>audio quality of the intro song was so poor
Totally agree with you here
>octopus elevators
Don't remember struggling too hard with this, can't remember why.
Personally I thought it was an alright but short and forgettable game. Not to say you're issues weren't legitimate.
what happened to that arab weeb SJW since then?
It was a trainwreck in every sense of the word, it's probably up there with the biggest fuck ups of this industry. People like to think a game sinking with sirens and fires blaring is the most insulting thing but the redundant silence and indifference MN9 received at launch was borderline tragic.
Everything that could go wrong went wrong. The game did nothing right.
There's bigger recent fuck ups, like Battle born. But those are big companies making clueless misteps.
This should have been easy. I mean MM9-10 were great throw backs. Just do that but in 3D and everyone would be happy.
It's clear that Inafune has NO fucking idea about gameplay. He's just some clueless hack artist who got promoted. You'd think he'd at least absorb something. And since it was his flagship project you'd think he'd do more than just drop by every few months and try a demo. He should have been producer and looked over everything. And hired people who had experience.
Shovel Knight ended up being exactly what MN9 should have been. And it's sold over 1 million with no signs of slowing down. MN9 probably hasn't broken 100,000.
Apparently she still gets hired by Literally Who companies as a designer, but still goes on pissy fits on Twitter. There's a reason these people don't get hired to big positions.
her art has improved somewhat
>game fucks up so hard Sonic twitter joins in on the ridicule
At least MN9 gave us some good laughs.
meant to reply to
holy shit, what game
MN9 was a very good game created in a time where people no longer appreciate the older games.
Look at Duke Nukem Forever. People criticized the game for keeping the same old """"dated"""" mechanics that everyone loved about Duke Nukem from the 90s, now they cry that it isn't like Call of Duty.
Same thing with Mighty No 9. Except they even changed it up a bit to make it more modern and better. It was a good game but the only replies you'll get are meme replies about how bad it was because a woman who was community manager for a forum no one visited was a feminist.
Dreadout. Indonesian Fatal Frame clone. Pretty good.
>MN9 was a very good game created in a time where people no longer appreciate the older games.
This is the same world where Shovel Knight sold over 1 million copies. Fuck off making excuses for shit games.
>Look at Duke Nukem Forever.
People bitched because they changed the mechanics. 2 weapons only, and linera levels.
>tfw too intelligent to ignore b8
When the shantae keys will be released? I can't wait anymore, it was one of the few kickstarters I've given something
this, i ripped a few models from the game, they are worse than an amateur students work.
like holy fuck even the backgrounds are screwd up, floating rocks, misplaced effects
not to mention the shoddy gameplay. it never felt hard in a satisfying way, it was always a forced gauntlet faze and then a pummel the boss moment. no reward for close calls or greedy play.
>Inafune was the father of mega man
>stop video immediately
When will the Mega Man "fanbase" realize taht Inafune was an artist/producer and that Kitamura was the actual father?
>this, i ripped a few models from the game, they are worse than an amateur students work.
>like holy fuck even the backgrounds are screwd up, floating rocks, misplaced effects
The graphics are in the awful "deadzone". They look much worse than 2D sprites, and lack any detail. And it's very CPU intensive to run. There's no fucking benefits.
I mean, I couldn't give two shits about Shantae, but that's so much more competent looking than MN9. I look at that and say, "that's a professional looking video game released in 2016". MN9 looks like some student project in high school.
