>purchase the bundle for this game >4 hours into the first game and cannot stand to play it anymore
What the fuck is the massive hype about? Its basically an fps and a crappy one at that. There's literally zero progression, basically go to this lab go to other lab go to Ravenholm for whatever fucking reason etc etc. Am I missing something here?
Julian Rodriguez
get a chair

You're missing timing. It was amazing for its time, and changed the way FPS was looked at-- so much so that it set the new standard and is pretty much bland as hell to play today.
Luke Allen
It's got nothing to do with the first game which is pretty jarring, but at the time it was technically impressive
Eli Barnes
>no progression Are you a retard or do you need a xp system for everything
Jaxson Parker
20 years too late
Joseph Lopez
>it's basically an fps
Yes, that's it's genre, did you mean something by this?
Ian Rogers
Yeah man they copied cod
Benjamin Myers
>There's literally zero progression >One of the few FPS since CoD that had more than 2 guns at the same time >zero progression
Levi Hall
>tfw I played HL2 on the xbox hueg
Played like shit but I didn't care at the time. It's sad Valve doesn't make games anymore, they were pretty good at it.
Jaxson Stewart
>It's another "I don't get the appeal" episode.
Jack Bennett
>HL2 >not a tech demo
Lincoln Nelson
>only xp unlock treadmills count as progression systems now
neo/v/ everyone
Landon Green
Are you a retard for playing a game with no purpose? If I wanted a walking from A to B simulator then i'd go on google maps. I couldnt care less about xp but I do care about some sense of story. The only progression here is "You got an le gravity gun!!!! XD"
Logan Young
>what happens when underageb& buy a game that requires you to not have the attention span that only allows for clickbait youtube videos
Alexander Nelson
ive always kind of hated the meme of "you will never play so and so for the first time again" but man does it actually hit me when it comes to HL2.
Shit was awesome. Replay it every few years.
Caleb Collins
No one knows its a mistery
same shit with HL 1
A bunch of repetitive tedious shit in between a bunch of repetitive tedious shit and some shooting
Mason Barnes
Whats everyones favorite part of HL2 + expansions?
I love Nova Prospekt. Breaking in and everything that happens during it.
Jack Campbell
Just nuke this place already
Brandon Peterson
>Its basically an fps well, gee willikers, who'da thunk

I'm experiencing sorta the same thing. The first few hours of the first game was alright and had some fun gun mechanics and some "riddles"(for lack of a better word), and it was cool exploring the world.
Later on it just gets so fucking frustrating. I put it on hard mode because I wanted the "full experience" but I got to the helicopter scene(the one where it chases and shoots at you) and it's just so fucking dumb.
You basically have to run around constantly at 10 health and pray to fucking christ there are health packs nearby, you know, to bring you up to a good 40. Then you immediately lose it and go down to 8 and you're skimping around with that and every time somebody shoots at you you die and have to try again with 8 health or load back further to try and do everything perfect.
Not to mention, the enemy placement is idiotic. So many time there were just 10 army guys standing around waiting to butt fuck me, and the only way to get around it was to be a camper faggot sniping at them from around corners, or just pull off insane trial and error and getting the rhythm perfect. ESPECIALLY in the helicopter scene, but then you can't even snipe them because they're all out of sight but to get to them you have to reveal yourself to the helicopter. At that point I was just so fucking jaded and trying to kill these fucking beasts as a scrawny 50 health faggot with bullets made of cotton candy, so I just put on god mode and went off on em with the crowbar just so I could get past that single room. I decided I would keep on gm just to see if they would fill another room with enemies because that's what game design is. From what I remember of it, the next 3 rooms are the same fucking thing. I just stopped playing.
Meanwhile my brother put it on easy and jogged through the entire series in 4 days. He said it was fun.

Nathan Foster
you sound like your garbage at the game
put it back down to normal
Caleb Murphy
I always found HL2 shit compared to HL1. It felt like whole different world / game, and also seemed to fall for that "cinematic" meme. Heck it hasn't even been that long since I played through HL1 again.
Gabriel Edwards
Half Life 2 is shite, Half Life 1 and Deus Ex are where it's at.
Gabriel Long
>and also seemed to fall for that "cinematic" meme no, it started it.
Caleb Brooks
´coz you came from an era of fps the genre is super exploted already when it was released the genre was not that big
its like fapping too much to porn, get addicted to tranny porn and suddenly your return to vanilla
Grayson Green
The extended firefight in the missile silos in Episode 2 was great. Having to fight a Hunter where you can't get a clear shot is actually pretty tense.
Blake Peterson
HL2 was released 12 years ago, and after playing FPSs throughout the subsequent years, HL2 seems a bit dated When people say it was an amazing game, they were talking about TECHNOLOGY, aka stuff other games stole 12 years ago
Ayden Young
I'll admit as a pure shooter HL2 isn't really that amazing but its atmosphere and pacing is unmatched
Jordan Adams
this is like the fourth thread i've seen along these lines in two weeks, stop making them
Isaac Martin
When I played through it was definately tense in a horror type way but the lack of soundtrack for a lot of the game is really noticeable. Makes everything seem awkward
