Shitty. Makuta took over the Mata Nui robot, Mata Nui build another giant robot and they fought. Mata Nui crashed a moon into Makuta's head, killing him. The inabitants had already evacuated the head area, which is where Metru Nui is.

Bionicle was abruptly cancelled in 2010, and the writers had to rush an ending together. Important to keep that in mind.
