Anyone want to talk about this game? Fun to explore, recruit quirky citizens, and battle system isn't so bad either, but man were neither of those endings satisfying. Kinda sad it went out on that note.

It's one of my favorite games.
I like how you can't even have what's on the cover art since the armor is only available on the human path while Arbitrator is on non-human.
I thought the human ending was at least okay, but yeah that other ending was really underwhelming. Still absolutely loved the game, though
Also, I really liked the look of the divine coat and ended up using it through the rest of the game even if it wasn't the best
...
Honestly one of my favorite games, well before its time in a lot of ways. I really like the combat system and the recruiting system. It also had an epic endgame dungeon and new game +
I honestly wish they would make a remake of it.
...
...
Who else went around kicking everyone and being a weirdo stalking qt human girls to figure out how to recruit them
...
This game still really looks nice.
I spent some time making it look better than it should.
Found a new game to play.
Thanks guys
Holy Christ, someone other than me played this game.
>tfw Jack leaves town and Lily runs out to the gate, but he's already gone
...
Enjoy user. It's a pretty good and a little overlooked PS2 gem.
I thought the nonhuman path had a pretty good ending. Jack gets the girl, the war is over, and they get to go back home together. What's not to like?
Only shitty part was Ganz dying of daddy issues
is this game comfy?
KILL ALL THE NON HUMANS
There isn't a single game on the PS2 that comes close to how comfy it is.
Comfiest PS2 game I can think of desu
Fuck off, Cross
I love ARPGs, but I didn't like Radiata Stories.
This isn't The Witcher.
One of, if not THE comfiest PS2 game.
I didn't like Ganz dying, and it's just...I dunno, all the humans being dead, just really made me feel shitty.
>Only shitty part was Ganz dying of daddy issues
That part was so dumb to me that I didn't even take it seriously, especially considering at that point he had a reason to stick around, to be a father to that one kid
...
That looks like discount star ocean 3
EVEN more than DQ VIII?
The true ending. Jack became a wandering warrior.
Fuck these fairy loving bastards.
...Radiata Stories is the second most comfy PS2 RPG!
>There isn't a single game on the PS2 that comes close to how comfy it is.
Fucking pleb
DQ is too static to be comfy.
see
Eh, I feel there were enough ambiguities in the last scene to justify my headcanon that the ritual was stopped before Ridley could become Quasar's vessel and the humans got to live.
I didn't like Dark Cloud 1 or 2. I know that's sacrilege.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
If you're going to emulate this I'd say go for the undub version to get the original japanese voice actors, unless this appeals to you: youtube.com
>Bad Ending is more of a Good Ending than the actual Good Ending - The Game
Comfy experience for real, game is colorful and somewhat enjoyable, but what a fucking lousy payoff, christ.
This game was actually really good.
Not only you could get lots and lots of characters to join your party, you had 2 stories and SO 3 simil combat.
Plus you could even recruit Lenneth on the post game dungeon...
Dammit i miss JRPGs.
>Not loving the dub and not playing it on an old CRT with the proper disc on a proper PS2
That's perfectly acceptable, though I don't personally have an issue with the dub i've never been overly picky about that stuff.
I usually always get undubs but Radiata's dub is better than the Japanese one which sounded very generic.
The game loses most of its charming knowing campiness.
>Implying the game didn't give you the correct story path before you even opened it.
>You only got into the Radiata Knights because you dad anime center cartago tejar por el calegio
wot
...
>tfw jack will never not be a fuckup
Are you retarded? DQ = Dragon Quest
Awesome game. Human path was the only way to go because you had such a great choice of characters.
Yes but DC is also too static to top this comfy masterpiece.
Really felt that the game was meant to be played non-human side first, and then human side second.
I was shocked at the difference in stories. The human side was way more hardcore than the non human.
I bought this game at walmart in 2008 at walmart for 5 bucks because I was poor and didn't have a ps3. Honestly that was the best 5 buck Id spent at that time the characters the hot yandre bitch and the chubby short commander were some very nicely written characters ever.
Also I only thought there was a human path am I missing something ???????????????????????????????????????? Also the art design was pure magic, I loved that forrest area and that boss fight with that giant fat thing and theat part where you find that yandre chick in the lava place with all of the rainbows in the sky.
This and Devil kings was my shit.
Favorite game of all time for me, and still try to replay it once a year. Best human girls in no particular order:
Leona
Lily
Ridley*
Miranda
Elwen
Adele
Nataliefag opinions are not wanted or accepted.
I feel the opposite. Human first makes you feel like shit so you replay it for non-human.
>Human path gives you better party members
>Nonhuman path gives better equipment
Absolute Guard was the shit though
E-egg?!
>missing best girl
>Forgetting Yuri
Disgusting
Black town best town. This game had some pretty comfy music
Jack had literally no reason to kill Aphelion.
While I agree that the human side has more negative feels, to me it felt far more fulfilling to complete. It was also longer than the non-human side, and arguably more difficult.
Son, put your glasses back on.
Alright, you got me.
>non-human end wasn't satisfying
You saved you're waifu.
I don't know what else you could possibly want.
One of the all-time coolest OSTs ever.

>music changes during night/day time
can't beat this in games
This fucking girl I blame for my midriff fetish.
There's no real ambiguity. The changeover happened.
I disagree with your interpretation but respect it nonetheless
>no humans left anywhere
>Jack sounds like Quasar
>Aphelion killed so no Silver Dragon to stay on the human's side of the changeover, which is required for Totaus to remain balanced without Quasar
>Aphelion laments that he couldn't save the humans
>Jack is ephemeral
Mkay.
nighttime version, couldn't find on youtube

Hahaah i love this game, i always wished for a 2nd one, but it wasn't popular D:
>no Men's Dirge
>fucking your entire race over for pussy that you didn't even like
Maybe if they got more development, I'd buy it.
None of the major jrpgs released after 2003 was popular. VP2 bombed, ToL and ToTA bombed, XSIII also failed horribly, so did SO4 and 5. The bubble burst right after SO3 and ToS.
>SO
Meant Suikoden, but I guess both Star Ocean count too.
>that you didn't even like
what did he mean by this
I always used her. In the human route she was the best healer bar none until you got the priest leader.
>Jack didn't like Ridley
Why do you play games without paying any attention whatsoever to the story, and then talk about the story as if you knew it?
Also the humans completely brought on the conflict themselves - don't be daft.
The art style/graphics were amazing
I liked the huge amount of recruitable characters and how unique a lot of them were, and how they had their own schedules
Really underrated game. I'd replay it if I could, how's ps2 emulation now?
Ps2 emulation has been good for a very long time bro.
>no humans left anywhere
It's nighttime. Most of the NPCs don't walk around at night, especially in the areas represented by the 3 screens they showed.
>Jack sounds like Quasar
Jack sounds like a character who doesn't have any lines? What?
>Aphelion killed so no Silver Dragon to stay on the human's side of the changeover, which is required for Totaus to remain balanced without Quasar
Pretty sure that's not how that works. Humans create imbalance purely by existing.
>Aphelion laments that he couldn't save the humans
What you have to remember is that his point of view was pretty warped. He also says a bit about how maybe humans don't NEED a guardian any more.
>Jack is ephemeral
How so? His voice is echoey, but he still looks just as corporeal as Ridley does. Definitely not on the level of that one ghost girl who followed that kid in the castle.
Suikoden 5 was good, so was Tales of the Abyss and the PS2 Persona games. The decline started the following console gen. There were like 2/3 good jrpgs on consoles that entire generation.
>Also the humans completely brought on the conflict themselves - don't be daft.
>We'd really, REALLY not like to die
They spend the entire beginning of the game hating each other until she gets injured and then don't interact until her birthday party, which lasts for a couple minutes before Cross throws his dick on the table. Then Ridley decides to leave the city and go to the non-humans to serve as the vessel. They just have zero chemistry and Jack's sudden desire to go AWOL and doom the human race for pussy despite his development for Gawain being able sacrificing loved ones for the greater good without regret.
Flora was a better healer though
Thanks. Gonna look into it right now, pretty sure I have the original game somewhere too.
>He chose the non-human path
Seriously, user?
Son, you skipped a whole lot of events and signals that prove otherwise.
While true, this game along with VP2 has an issue with the stencil emulation and has some blur that's very hard to mitigate without getting too many artifacts.
Make sure to enable progressive mode.
The non-humans weren't going to make war until the humans started fucking with them.
The humans (except for Maxwell) knew absolutely nothing about the dragon lord swap.
Play the game again. Jack and Ridley have two events after her injury, her birthday party and her deciding to leave. Jack following her is dumb. Jack not following her, agreeing with Aphelion, and then trying to kill Aphelion to save Ridley is even dumber. Jack's a shit.
She didn't AoE heal if I remember correctly, while Miranda did.
I remember VP2 having problems a couple years ago. I had Radiata Stories in hard copy though so I never tried it on emulator.
Clarence hottest elf
..was a bitch to recruit tho :/
>Make sure to enable progressive mode.
Wish I could do that. My CRT isn't quite that good and emulation is right out. Oh well.
>The non-humans weren't going to make war until the humans started fucking with them.
Zane would like to have a word with you. Furthermore, Aphelion was the one who facilitated the war effort and the growth of humanity in order to bring the dragons out of dormancy. Motherfucker knew what he was doing.
The nonhumans were waiting for an excuse, but it was Cross being a dickhead that really set it off.
>Dynas just watches Cross leave the negotioation and supersede his orders
>Doesn't try to stop anything or slap Cross's shit for insubordination
She did party heals AND cured status effects. Plus she didn't risk herself by running into close range to attack
>he didn't want light elf pussy
What are you, gay?
Pretty much everything is Cross' fault, when you think about it.
This is the first rpg i ever really completed the bonus hard mode dungeon and bosses on.
>tfw you recruit lenneth
I never found out how to get the big armored lady who was your boss though.
Zane was going to sit in his little pocket realm and be mad forever if the humans never fucked with anyone.
You sure? Did she have a useless move then?
I know I was using Miranda over her for a reason.
He's the only villain i can think of who legitimately makes me hate his guts
