Daily reminder nba 2k17 is the deepest rpg game released this year

I'm not even joking. Even if you don't like sports or sports games the mygm mode is worth it alone. You get to roleplay as a customized general manager for any team.

Basketball simulator when?

I agree.

>be a gm for the Warriors
>make the worst trades possible
>trade steph curry for a d-league tier point guard
>trade kevin durant for a 2nd round draft pick
>team shits it up
>buy the team from the owner so I won't have to worry about getting fired
>warriors become the worst team in the NBA

2k17 is a basketball simulator family.

There's not a single feature I can think of that's not already in it.

I made a KFC team with a custom arena with colonel sanders face on the court

Sup Forums vs Sup Forums custom league when?

Can I have socks on my custom player that don't go above the ankles?

I d-don't k-know

That sounds pretty cool. I might pick it up on Switch.

well if you think management is rpg than football manager is the goat rpg

>Walk down to guy's office
>Look we're probably going to have trouble with their carry. Let's look at the gamep-
>NO WORRIES BRO GOT IT HANDLED
>Okay...

football manager and nba 2k are literally more of an rpg than ffxv

Is it actually good? I got 2k16 for free and I'm wondering why both have shitty reviews on steam

the bad reviews come from people bitching about online cheaters.

It's the goat bball game. There's a few videos on Youtube that show the differences between 2k16 and 17

Just look at this shit.

youtu.be/kHe1xfbyr0Q

that actually looks fun

it is

it's already out?

yeah

The last time I looked into a basketball game on PC it was apparently a total shit port with loads of issues. Have things improved since then?

shit, I'm stupid I forgot they always add a year on the name

does it still have microtransactions

>making fucking sports games into fucking stories
Jesus shit, even sports games aren't immune from the moviegame cancer. Fucking let gaming die, please. This shit has to end.

can't wait until EA loses the NFL license

yeah 2k17 is on par with the ps4 version

it's one mode out of dozens. There's still regular exhibition modes without any roleplaying or management

NFL 2k making a comeback would be great.

I also wish EA would pull their head out of their asses and make a fucking new fight night

guys, if i know nothing about basketball can i learn from this and will it still be fun?

of course man, there's a really good tutorial mode. The gameplay itself is pretty deep, there's advanced moves you can pull off to git gud if you get serious about it online but other than that you can play it as a pick up arcade style game by moving the sliders around and changing options

on another note if you actually learn the basics you can actually enjoy watching games.

NBA along with NHL are pretty engaging to watch.

What's your hometown?

>hear great things about 2K simulators
>hear that 2K now makes WWE games
>hey, I would love to manage a WWE rooking to a successful career! sign me up
>can't manage shit, have to play as the rookie
>8 months later, and still wrestling Tyson Kidd, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Samoa Joe twice a week, even though I've been number 1 contender for 2 months, I still haven't gotten a title shot

Seems like WWE2K is an after though to 2K Sports.

im an ausfag, melb

When will there be an RPG with mechanics and character systems as deep as Sports Simulators?

The top nba rookie prospect is Australian. Tons of good Aus players in the league. If you want to root for hometown players pick either Oklahoma city (Adams), the spurs (patty mills), the bucks (Delladova) or the sixers (Ben Simmons).

The irony in this is that sportsbros are huge normies and casuals that can actually grasp these mechanics in sports games but developers are dumbing down traditional rpgs in favor of the same audience.

Imagine Final Fantasy with this level of depth

Yes but only for be a pro/shitty 3v3 courts.

GM mode doesn't.

never

even if you play those modes you can still make vc easily by just playing the game.

good simulation managers for basketball and american football when??

dam i thought this was a simulation manager

literally nba 2k mygm/myleague modes.

It has the same amount of options and information as football manager

Can I not play any of the games?

It is.

who /knicks/ in here???
who /always trades melo/ in here???

This is very true.

Just saying there are micro transactions for vc.

I don't think 2k has a card mode like fifa/madden. If it does I've never tried it. I'm still on 2k16.

How does it accurately portray the role playing involved in domestic abuse?

Lmao i cant see any of them

mygm is fun but seriously it's not as comprehensive as OOTPB or FM

literally in OOTPB you can start at any point in MLB history, it's amazing

right here, Melo has been alright this year.

Change the basketball players to cute anime girls and add some manager/player harem development and I'll buy it.

>Madden
>play clock starts
>select play from huge book of options that you've assembled, selecting best choice based on down, distance, stats, match ups, and game situation
>line up, making adjustments and checking match ups at the line, audibles, hot routes, offensive line focus
>all within 45 seconds

>hike ball

>drop back into pocket while simultaneously scanning for open receivers down field and keeping an eye on defenders coming at you
>throw ball using either a tap, double tap, or hold, plus a trigger or shoulder button potentially, possibly while moving your qb as well, along with a left stick direction to guide the ball
>select one of four catch options while the ball is in the air for best chance at catch

>catch the ball

>immediately use combinations of buttons in an attempt to maximize distance gained, spin moves, jukes, etc.

>repeat for entire game, haven't even mentioned defense yet

But yeah no dumb down rpg clearly it's just asking too much to handle something turnbased.

I haven't played FM much. Just how comprehensive is it compared to mygm or myleague?

Mygm has budget balancing, drafting, scouting, trades, swapping picks, media interviews, league expansion, team customization, rule changes, player/team analytics with graphs, player development, team chemistry, scouting reports, customizable offense/defensive plays etc.

Can I blackmail everyone into giving me what I want or else I will move the team to LA?

...

MyGM salary cap stuff is really simplified. Once you level your character up, you can really exploit the game and dominate pretty much every time. It's fun as fuck but I do think that it doesn't hold a candle to FM or OOTPB.

you can change any team to any location and customize the logo or download logos from other people.

It has to be approved by a certain amount of league general managers. Theres a number of factors for it to get approved like Your budget,Arena concessions, luxuries, and your overall relationship with said gms.

Holy shit it's come full circle

>play a lame ass jrpg with a disney storyline and 8 different character attributes
"Lol look at that loser cody playing his anime gaymer shit. What a virgin"

>play a sports game with a deep, complex, multi-faceted plot and 36 different character attributes
"Oh yeah bro just playin' nba2k17 atm, lol remember Stacy that I fucked on the weekend? She wants to be my gf haha, but I'm already fucking her friends Monique and Chloe ;)"

sports is a (the most?) socially acceptable way to channel autism. to an extent anyway, baseball nerds aren't cool for example

kek

>tfw not intelligent enough for sports

Oh hey, I thought I was looking at an artist page in Spotify

what

Is GM mode that good?

>OP sold me on a basketball simulator.
>are you winning son?

guess i am pop.

>That pioneer DJ gear
Well fuck thats pretty accurate.
They even slapped on a RMX-1000

>implying great stories can't come out of sports and sports games

I'm not even into football or basketball, but hearing my friends talk about their favourite clubs and players, the rivalries that they have with other teams and shit like that is fun as fuck.

My favorite is still 2k15. Is 17' better than that?

yes it's fun as shit. You'll be surprised how many people don't know that sports games have evolved into more than just your generic exhibition modes and more importantly the gameplay is deep.

good, make em proud champ

Good sports games are unironically the greatest video games today.
>gameplay is a very deep action/strategy RPG with a staggering amount of options at both the action level (controlling your character) and a strategy level (controlling the tactics of your team)
>the plots are completely unscripted and emerge organically from gameplay, story and gameplay both feed into each other creating a more intense experience
>virtually endless replay value

I say this every year to friends but they laugh at me and go back to playing Skyrim, a game where you walk around a static world and press M1.

Lol

yup. 17 has an insane amount of customization. They also changed the way the ball moves as well, I can't really explain it so I'll dig up the info in a sec for you.

Not to mention all the control in a sports game is crazy

hows the custom character stuff?
Lots of depth/options?

>Can't change the 3pt line and out of bounds line to the same color as the court anymore
Shame.
Shit was hilarious in 2k16.

you can scan any face using your phone and upload it.

You can make a 7'7 behemoth with a red afro and acne scars.

Customization is great

is the campaign stuff for it good/engaging? Can I keep progressing through leagues and years?

So how does this game run on a toaster?

holy shit. is this normals' game?

Black guy sitting in wrong chair.

Should've rolled a Mastodon. Vince would make you Champ by now.

Yes, there's also a story mode called myplayer. You can also take that custom player and use him online to play in mp leagues

yes. normies don't look down at you because you're a nerd, they look down at you because you're a fucking pleb

there's a shot creator mode.

Goddamn really? How much customization is there?

okay that's pretty neat

I'll let the screenshots do the talking. I'll keep posting

You can make your dude shoot the ball one handed and then strike a greek pose as the followthrough

>OP actually getting me hyped for a sports game
The fuck

this. im kinda worried about spending 70 bucks on it tho (aus)

Can you play thru a season to the playoffs in any mode beside story?

jersey customization with custom logos that you can upload or download from 2k servers

That's pretty cool

yup

Can my white point guard not sound like a black guy this time?

full arena customization down to the sound effects that play based on what happens on the court

Normalfags have shit taste when it comes to every other genre. Maybe race sims are one other exception.

2k16 free? how?

Fuuuuuuuujjck bout to get this shit right now I thought you absolutely had to play the shitty "frequency vibrations" story

>REEEEE EVERYTHING MUST BE ASTEROIDS AND PONG

a fucking shoe creator
