Pokemon Sun and Moon - Main Story

How long does it take to complete? I want that Magearna.

wait
theres more story after the credits?

My clock was at about 20 hours when I finished but I was going at a pretty slow pace.

Do you have to have the main story finished to get Magearna? In any case the QR code doesn't expire so don't worry about it.

Have you ever played a Pokemon game before?

30 to 40 hours I believe depending on grinding and using exp share or not.
It takes a while.

I finished it at about 47, but I did some hunting for specifics and wonder trading. I can see the average being 35-40. It was a pretty damn entertaining story too.

>20 hours
What is this wizardry?

Yeah.

yes

red

Well pretty much every game since the second one unlocks a bunch of shit to do after beating the League

I know, I'm just referring to the main story though.

>people in this thread taking 0 hours to beat the story
Fucking how? I feel like I made sure to talk to literally every NPC in every town and make 100% sure I'd explored every nook and cranny of every route it'd only add another 5 or so hours.

I spent about 35 hours beating the main story, and that was with some grinding near the end. I also played with EXP Share off.

Just a fair warning: There is a massive level gap on the last island and near the last area with trainers, you will probably be 10 or so levels behind if you fought every trainer and did some light grinding.

I spent around 70-80 hours pre elite 4 but I was taking my time

Code expires in March, you'll be fine

>tfw 22 hours in and still on the 2nd island

I just did the Ghost Trial and I want to die.

I appreciate that GF are trying something new but for the love of God, please go back to Gyms in the next game.

Took me 60 hours taking my time, catching everything and using online features along the way.

Mallow has the sexiest body but the worst personality

Didnt it say on the website it never expires?

Took me about 30 hours, the main game is seriously good (at least after the 1st island is done, first few hours really drag).

It's a fucking QR code that unlocks something already coded into the game, how would it expire

Took me around 60 hours to beat the game and thats only 'cause I rushed through the last island.

This is the type of game that you gotta take your time in to appreciate every nuance.

I missed so much pre elite 4 stuff that the game still felt fresh even after I beat them.

>Being this bitter that a sock puppet kicked your ass

The Captains are a lot more fleshed out than the Gym Leaders, but the actual trials are just shittier versions of the old gym puzzles. And aside from the first 2 or 3 I always just one-shotted the Totem Pokemon with a Z-move.

>Implying

Decoy was a fucking awesome surprise, that was some straight up anime shit where the bad guy deflects the main character's ultra move.

Cool game. Could be better.
Hopefully the National Dex doesn't require Pokebank.
They wouldn't go that far. Would they?

Maybe I was false informed
I don't remember where I read the march thing

Doesn't it never expiring kinda kill the rarity of it being mythical?

>using Z-moves

It was required in XY and ORAS, why wouldn't it be here

Ghost trial is the hardest mimikyu is op, worst new mon by far

He's weak to 2 of the starters signature moves, the only challenge is not knowing about Disguise and wasting a shot.

Also Mimikyu would have been an awesome reveal had Game Freak not whored him out as a mascot before the game even launched

There's easily accessible distribution events for Legendaries and Mythicals all the time. The rarity comes from being unable to breed.
Gone are the days of having to go to some super special event for a limited time chance to fill in the last hole in your Pokedex without cheating.

And thank God for that.

Anyone have that picture of Lilly telling Lunala to get in the bag?
I meant to save it but I forgot.

They usually come out after I've lost interest in the game and I forget to play during the distribution period.

It was cool in Gen 4 when people figured out how to fuck with the GTS and make their own distributions

Which starters? I boxed my litten

>Boxed Litten
>Not knowing the magnificence of Darkest Lariat

You're playing the game wrong.

>Play without Exp. Share
>Game difficulty has been mild up til that point
>Mimikyu outspeeds and one-shots Decidueye first turn of battle

>20 hours
>wizardry
>not seeing this game for the overly easy trash it is

I clocked in at 18hrs myself and a buddy is set to finish in 16

>using the exp share and running directly to the next marker

are you even playing the game at that point?

>using meme share
>just going point to point

Done neither, still smashed it at 18 hours

My buddy however, he definitely did

Why is Pokepelago so engrossing? I've got a Murkrow and Pinsir so far from it and I've fully upgraded the first Island.

It's a cool way to plant berries and raise happiness. I don't know how the wild Pokemon work though. He always tells me to check the next day and then they're gone.

>fully upgraded every island
>found out abut bottlecaps
>ignored islands and started doing new vegas: the sidequest

They're a fun little addition though

Bottlecaps are useless because you need to be level 100 for hyper training, and it's faster to breed a 6 IV pokemon than level it up to 100

I beat the game at 35 hours or so, usually Pokemon I hit 50~60 before the credits. SM definitely feels the shortest of the main series.

>implying my mons are all under 99

GG

...

At last, a robot pokewaifu to clang clang clang

What nature should I get her?

Thank you. I appreciate it.

The QR codes will practically be valid forever. You can wait.

Not that guy but how did you do it? It seems like doing the E4 a million times is the most efficient but they only have teams of ~65.

Can some kind user get me a screenshot or other image of when it says "x seems curious about your fashion"?

Man new Pokémon are stupid as fuck looking.

If we're requesting shit does anyone have a picture of what the girl trainer looks like when riding Lapras?

5 star Rare Kitchen

i think i fucked up desu, or not really. for every pokemon game, i never cheated. but for the first time i really realized how much fucking time you waste by trying to breed perfect shit and hatch eggs and so on. i just editied 3 or 4 mons to have perfect IVs, and i got a perfect IV ditto with destiny knot so i can do the breeding myself without hacking any more. but for every legendary i catch i just edit the nature in pkhex and other bits. that's not cheating right? I still need to catch the UBs, but other than looking at my cool mons i wish they implemented something a lot more to do with your own mons. because what else is there besides fucking battling?

same as male with suit

Well then grind, mother fucker. If you're going to take off the training wheels you gotta do the extra work.

But what about her top?

Haha good joke bro

No it wasn't.

Actually its Fairy typing make it take neutral damage from Darkest Lariat, it's only weak to Sinister Arrow Raid.

>Also Mimikyu would have been an awesome reveal had Game Freak not whored him out as a mascot before the game even launched

I'm not sure why they're keen on spoiling a lot of shit before release since Gen VI.

>worst new mon by far
Disgustingly shit taste.

My guess is something retarded like "people can't leak the game if we reveal everything before launch!".

I wasnt checking the clock during the main story. Now I am bit into the postgame and the clock says 51 hours. I did hunt out some rare mons during the main story though so I might not be the best comparable.

Because there's apparently no text files for dex entries beyond what's already in the game. And GameFreak isnt exactly known for patches that add anything beyond bug fixing. That could very well change but I'm not optimistic.

Also worth noting that while Decidueye is the only starter with a SE Z move against Totem Mimikyu, it's also the only one that's actually WEAK to Totem Mimikyu due to Ghost's weakness to itself, and it will take at least one turn to take off the disguise before launching its Z Move, and if Mimikyu outspeeds it, that's two SE Shadow Balls it has to tank (thankfully it's using Shadow Balls and not Shadow Claw, Mimikyu's SpA isn't that good compared to its Attack).

If it also gets outsped by the Haunter/Gengar Mimikyu summons on the first turn then that's GG.

Friendly reminder using z-moves and exp-share makes you casual as fuck.

Learn to build a team with strategic synergy.

None of the game was a challenge.

If you get a decent natured Grimer with Poison Touch holding black sludge you can literally cheese the entire game.

Friendly reminder that nobody gives a fuck about how you play a game like Pokemon.

>tfw 47:55 hours and still on the 2nd island

Got a metang like this, I was so happy.
Like damn I really gotbtonsee the fruits of my labour

What? That's clearly a Pikachu

I never use exp-share in any pokemon games, but I can't resist using Z-moves.
I like to see my loli dancing.

Friendly reminder that only your streaks in the Battle Tree and claims to fame in online battles alter the size of your penis.

What makes her so cute?
She's so much better than all the other female protags.

I use Z Moves on Kahunas n shit

>mfw 2 Nasty Plots wasnt enough for a Stoked SparkSurfer to kill Kukui's Snorlax

And apparently it knows High Horsepower for fuck knows what reason

Modest is generaly the typical nature of choice and it leaves you with the most possibilities.
A few specific movesets use other natures but I'm to lazy to look those up.
If you want to be really autistic go with Modest and HP fire

I beat the story at 40 hours. You weren't going slow

Preliminary analysis on Smogon seem big on Modest with Shift Gear and other generic special attack sets, with the odd Trick Room set using Quiet.

I'm not sure if Timid will allow Magearna to hit notable speed tiers with a Shift Gear boost, or if a -Def/-SpD nature allows it to make use of the attack boost well with something like Explosion. Which is probably not that great of an idea.

How did you get mons from old games then?

There are no Pokedex entries for even the island scan Pokemon at any point in the game.

Post game stuff. Which we have in SM with Island Scan but none of them have Pokédex entries at all.

Yeah sure dude. How did you manage to get Ho-oh and Lugia in sixth gen before ORAS came out?

We're talking about the national dex you idiot. The point is XY had one even if you couldn't fill it entirely without transfer. SM doesn't have any entries whatsoever for anything outside the Alola dex.

So what is the point of having it if you are forced to pay to fill it?

You didn't have to pay, I used the free trial to transfer what I needed.

And the point was XY and ORAS didn't require Bank for the National Dex. Even if you didn't fill it it was still there.

But the trial wasn't free forever, if you wanted to just FILL THE DEX you had to pay to transfer.

SM has no dex ingame but if you want to fill it you don't have to spend a single cent.

I finished everything you could do post game besides Battle Tree and I'm clocked in at 34 hours but I explored every chance I got so that my have added to my time significantly. I'd say you can run through it in about 6 - 8 hours if you just go to every checkpoint immediately.

That surprised and confused the fuck out of me too. I thought it was exclusive to Mudsdale or it'll be exclusive to horse mons but I guess Snorlax has hooves too.

The animation is just a graphical representation, it's given to big and heavy mons that have an enormous quantity of energy.

Considering Snorlax has 160/65/110 defenses and that a lot of notable trainers in SM very likely have actual EV spreads for their Pokemon, that's not all that surprising.
