How do we stop phone games from destroying videogames?
How do we stop phone games from destroying videogames?
I don't see how phones are a problem for the core gaming market. If anything, it's beneficial to people who actually want to see progress in the industry, because phones will act as a casual magnet, so we'll never see something like the wii ever again, and devs will learn that the casual market is all on their phones now.
The only people left to develop video games are the ones that will truly just want to make good games.
This will only happen if consoles die, though.
I like your optimism user but when this shit happens

I start to think I should just stop playing games forever and move to something else; its so utterly disgusting.
The fact of the matter is that Phone games have a different dev cycle, different cost requirements, different design focuses, different monetization strategies, and (most importantly) a wholly different audience from "core" games (console and PC games)
That the phone game market and app market continue to expand means absolutely nothing for the "core" gaming market. They're two different things.
It's simple: We destroy phones.
Yeah, it's really depressing to see shit like that happen, but to be honest Sony wasn't really doing anything with those IPs anyways. So I don't really view it as a loss.
It actually does effect the "core" gaming market a lot. Soon, Triple A producer studios and large companies like for example, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will realize that it is significantly more profitable to develop shitty little games on their phones. While this doesn't mean that they would stop developing their core games for consoles or whatever, it shows that they're ready to move on if that makes sense.
Really, I think phones are healthy for the video game market because it gives competition to consoles.
I don't want to sound like an elitist pc mustard race here, but consoles are seriously holding the industry back (look at naughty dog with uncharted, for example) where devs have no motivation to live up to current industry standards (such as 60fps, 1080p, etc...)
They can just fart out games with horrible optimization, and are half finished because people who play on consoles either have no alternatives, or have no standards. It's extremely toxic to the industry because it doesn't encourage technological progress. It encourages abusing the system to make as much money off idiots as possible.
We won't see any serious progress in the industry until/unless either consoles seriously get better, cheaper, and more accessible for developers, or they just die all together (which is way more realistic.)
Isn't this because nips do everything on mobiles? They are probably trying to turn mobile phones into another game boy cash cow without the need to pay Nintendo out of the ass.
Still it's pretty disheartening.
And phoneposters while we are at it.
We can't. Sony is already making more games for it than the Vita

Its over senpai
Oh come on you sound like a 40 year old man. This is how things are now. Get use to it grandpa
Well thats my point if things are shit now Ill rather just leave.
People want to play video games on a piece of hardware that they already own and carry with them everywhere:
How is that so vile?
How is that request any different than PC/Laptop asking for an end to exclusivity?
I say, bring on the controllers with slide pads and four shoulder buttons, and let's get cracking.
Nothing, it will implode on itself due to the lack of quality control.
If that were solely the case, don't you think it would have collapsed in on itself by now?
People were very excited to play a Pokémon game on their phones.
They then found out it wasn't really Pokémon, but Ingress.
People that play phones games dont care about quality in any way since the games are all free
The concept itself is fine
Its that phone games are trash and nothing but microtransaction scams to make people into gambling addicts
They should be illegal
Clock is round and the earth rotates, the people that are populating the development side is only in for one thing and that is quick money. That means the probability of them fucking it further down the road increases since they have no actual plan to keep this industry profitable for longer than 5 years. They want to gut you know while they still can.
I know that a lot of the games has a piss poor return rate of customers so a lot (Around 10% might return) and it is even a lower rate of the people who actually pay for the micro transactions. So a lot of the profit goes into marketing to keep appearances up.
I would actually recommend making some quick deals/jobs with these companies to take some of their profit before the bubble pops, they are desperate.
And on the technical side, as long as phones has no real physical feedback the consumer will then rate the product lower in quality. So phone vibration helps but that is a thin life line at this point. I could see a few years added if the managed to get that artificial button invention going though.
Even more is that the games are naturally start becoming more demanding on both memory size and battery size.
Phone games are not destroying video games.
AAA budgets, current console exclusivity, overhype, and the underage fanbases are currently destroying video games. Just because phones exist at the same time does not mean that they are harming the video game industry any more than it harms itself. You're seeing companies jumping ship because they know the current video game market is rapidly sinking and cannibalizing itself.
Stop phones themselves. They're shitty little toys that are horribly anti-privacy and should be banned from this fucking planet.
>are not destroying video games.
Only Handhelds
