Help me out, boys! I can't decide which clan to choose, and I have been putting the game on hold for too long.
Help me out, boys! I can't decide which clan to choose, and I have been putting the game on hold for too long
Ventrue
Melee -> Gangrel
Ranged -> Brujah
Ranged/Sorcerer -> Tremere
Social -> Ventrue/Malkavian
Dont go nosferatu on first playthrough.
Not Malkavian and not Nosferatu. The only things you should really be looking at are the three disciplines at the bottom of the character sheet from there. Tremere is great the best though...
This game is supposed to be amazing according to a lot of people but the 1 hour long tutorial really put me off. I stopped playing because of it.
V E N T R U E
Play Gangrel and max animalism so you won't get stuck anywhere involving combat. Dont go Malkavian/Nosferatu on your first playthrough, and dont build social either. For subsequent playthroughs you should probably know what you'll be dealing with, so you can do whatever you want.
Toreadore is a good starting clan.
Focus on Celerity and guns. Become a well dressed Max Payne.
>This game is supposed to be amazing according to a lot of people but the 1 hour long tutorial really put me off. I stopped playing because of it.
C A S U A L
Do NOT play malkavian for first run. This is important.
I assume you have the unofficial patch.
From the rest of the clans, pick whichever character you think your vampire self would fit the best into, or the kind of character you'd like to be. All of the clans are viable provided you put some points in combat throughout the game, so you only have to worry about roleplaying. Would you rather have blood magic powers as a vampire, be a passionate social butterfly or a good-hearted horrid looking social outcast? You can choose anything you want. Don't pick based on combat prowess because you think it will make the game easier, game is easy enough as it is.
Honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the setting and atmosphere. The game can be somewhat bland at times and doesn't offer the freedom of other Hub world type RPGs.
>1 hour long tutorial
It takes like 5-10min, what the fuck are you doing?
I do agree that the game isn't for everyone but "bland" is the last word I'd use for it.
You know you can skip it, right?
>inb4 you skip it and then go "HURR DURR WHY DOESNT THIS GAME TELL ME HOW TO DO THINGS"
>the freedom of other Hub world type RPGs.
Giant worlds filled with nothing = freedom
It's a video game. It has enough that the hub worlds are filled with tons of shit, but at the same time not empty. Would adding a life sized LA really add anything to the game? It would have the same number of NPCs and quests. In fact, probably less since they'd spend time modeling empty streets and buildings rather than shit that matters.
>It has enough that the hub worlds are filled with tons of shit
but VtMB is empty as fuck and even with small hubs most buildings are completely empty and have LITERALLY NOTHING in them
Where did I say it had to be a massive map? I compared it to other hub world rpgs (is there another name for them?). I'm just saying that when it comes to going through one area of the game or completing a quest, we most likely all did it the same way give or take a couple of instances.
I would but that's just me. The only thing that kept me coming back for more was the setting.
It doesn't matter. All clans play out the same way. The reddit clan just changes the way you see dialogue optins and the nosferatu changes maybe a half dozen encounters at best. Rest of the clans are just different flavors.
undead scum needs to die Tbh
>The ladies call me 'OH GAAAWD'
forgot toreador
Toreador a best.
WITH A F A T
>violently bleed all over your enemies
>wear THE most fashionable coats and jackets
>hang out with the best vampire jew dad
If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, then you ought to pick Tremere, neon8.
toreador
Toreador works best for ranged IIRC.
Anyone can remind me which patches do you have to put into this game for it to be decent? i want to replay it again but i forgot which was the patch i used.
Wesp's Unofficial Patch
Thank you user.
No problem.
I JUS' DON' GIVE A FUKK
Why exactly do people not recommend going malkavian on the first time?
I regret not picking it first, seems like it is by far the most unique experience of any clan
Because it's weird and unique and not the "main" way to play the game. It's that alternative playthrough you do when you're familiar with the game already and want something fresh.
tbqh the gameplay in this and the later part of the story are really not too great
I dont know if ill ever play this game again so i regret not picking malk for that reason
>1 hour
The tutorial is also world building, maybe complex games aren't for you, go back to your moba
Not him, but the tutorial really is pretty dull and there's not much world-building in it at all.
Just play the game, faggo.
Malkavian whispers contain major spoilers, but it doesn't matter because you won't understand them anyway
i chose trememre, is that basically so you can sweettalk your way out of tough situations?
>introduces Sabbat
>explains Masquerade
>also gives you 2 EXP points, free lockpick and a .38 if your Persuasion is high enough
Have fun in the sewers.
I didn't say it wasn't useful, I said it was dull. That's how I felt when I played it.
Isn't the tutorial maybe like 10 minutes at most? The hardest part was sneaking past the sabbat grunt, plus it was actually well worth it because you get a lockpick and a weapon for free.
>Bowing to Strauss
He's a good man, as far as Vampires go. But you don't willingly put yourself into the Tremere pyramid, you fucking mong.
>having trouble in the sewers while playing anything other than venture
It's just boring, it's not hard unless your faggot ass can't bear sucking on rats.
> not joining the Vampire Skull and Bones society
Suit yourself fledgling
This. I went malk on my first playthrough as well and it was fucking amazing
I played Malk first and like said didn't understand the spoilers. It was more things clicking right after the game reveals things to you.
does anyone have the infographic? the one for noobies?
Tremere are interesting as fuck, but only a top choice if you don't answer to everybody a tier above you.
I'd rather be a Nossie than stuck kowtowing for hundreds of years.
>tfw you will never play through VTMB for the first time unspoiled again
They really need to start work on an amnesia ray
>1 hr long tutorial
you are really fucking bad at video games
Being a nossie is a fate worse than death, being gen 8 Tremere would be an amazing deal
>tfw you will never play through VTMB for the first time unspoiled again
I'm playing it for the first time and I know that feel. I regret browsing Vampire threads so much. Then again, these threads are what got me to try the game in the first place, oh well..
If you have zero ambition, yes.
I got ya, famstein
I play through the game unspoiled except for the beach house is scary meme and reading that pic on which clan to choose.
I have a very good experience with it but it really sucks when the bugs literally shut down certain aspect of the games, and I had already installed the most recent patch too.
>can't go into the church raveclub because it will crash the game
>heather never appears after she chat me up at downtown
>the only entrance to the sabbat hotel (elevator) won't work for me and I had to make a console command to force myself into the level, making me lost all my shit.
I bet I missed a ton of side quests because of this shit too, I wish I could play this game one day completely bugless
Are you being autistic for a reason ?
Or, perhaps, he thinks too highly of them. I know what he means, I usually take it slowly at first because I expect depth that is never there.
just patch it you dolt
thanks senpai
i'm big into RPGs, but i've never got around to playing this, no real reason to put it off any longer
Do you have a reason for pretending anybody higher up the food chain than you knowing everything you think, where you are and what you're doing isn't a problem?
Why would you choose to be a dog?
>Being a nossie is a fate worse than death
it's not if you are a kh-less virgin NEET, if you practice hard enough you can get legit powers that would actually allow you to score.
I took it real slow at my first play and it took me nowhere near 15 mins.
I already patched it pham, if I didn't patched it the game won't even start for me.
If you can choose what you'd become then there is absolutely no reason to be a Tremere over awakening as a mage.
>mfw i like Gangrel a lot but i'm too much of a humanityfag to go the frenzy path.
I feel i'm missing a lot of potential for my Gangrel.
pretty much this, becoming tremere is the same as castrating yourself powerlevel wise.
Gangrel are for brawling, brujah are better for melee
I guess if you like being a dog, then be one, its all up to the player, all vamps listen to the blood of their elders anyways
What's a decent build for someone new to the game? I know it's best not to play Malk or Nos for my first run, but I also know that the game gets really combat oriented in the end. Any advice?
Mages a shit, let them play their harry potter paradox memes, while everyone else gets to be edgy and have fun
The amount of recent VTMB threads make me so happy
Really? I always thought Fortitude was OP as shit for melee aswell
Nigga the big 3-women-sewn-together things are like 2 blood boils and they're dead.
Aren't mages mortal? Immortality seems a pretty big bonus, plus tremer wont mind if you eat some old vampires of other clans and grow stronger.
Perhaps, but it's not that simple. For starters, Mages are not immortal. There is nothing stopping some Brujah from killing a Mage in a drive-by just because they chose the exact right moment to do it.
If a Mage knows you are a Vampire, that you are hostile and if you don't strike first you're completely fucked though, since they're probably gonna tell the consilium about you.
There is a reason why most of the supernatural denizens of the World Of Darkness leave each other the fuck alone.
Be careful, you don't want to trigger p&p turboautists while trying to have fun
Bitches don't know about the best primogen.
>if you eat some old vampires of other clans and grow stronger.
if it was that easy everyone would be doing it, even if you disregard the consequences you have to also consider the fact that old vampires are much more powerful than you are.
also I could roast an entire clan of shapechangers alive while the vampires are busy pissing their pants.
>For starters, Mages are not immortal.
If they don't bother studying the Life sphere, sure.
Grout's voice and dialogue is comfy as fuck, I would kill for the voice actor doing his voice to narrate an audio book.
>I could roast an entire clan of shapechangers alive while the vampires are busy pissing their pants.
enjoy getting raped by paradox
Cain learned magic from a Mage and he isn't even that strong. He can and does die in at least one of the Gehenna scenarios. His character sheet was actually a joke. I swear, Cain has the worst fanboys.
A sufficiently powerful Mage or a True Fae or an Angel can take out Cain, but they're going to get nuked by God for doing it.
Use the personality test, duh.
I wasn't necessarily talking about powerlevel because let's be real, most supernaturals don't reach super high powerlevels.
Vampirism is a curse. You lose most of your links to society by being a dead monster who feeds on humans and lives at night, and this will only become worse as you age and your humanity shrinks. Mages on the other hand have the choice of just living a relatively normal life but seeing shit most people don't and subtly influencing reality. The only drawbacks mages have (granted, a pretty big one) have paradox - something that camarilla vampires also have to deal with in the form of the masquerade.
Also, the structure of clan tremere is a pain in the ass compared to mage orders.
Anyone?
>Gehenna scenarios
None of them are canon, they are just fun fanfiction tier nonsense
>he isn't even that strong.
It's one thing to say he's not as strong as some things in WoD, but it's utterly retarded to say he's not that strong. He's definitely one of the top dogs.
It's like 10 minutes long what the fuck?
It doesn't work that way. There isn't some user manual in-print with an immortality spell in it, you know.
A Paradox might occur, but with sufficient preparation it could be avoided, and Supernatural entities do not cause disbelief. Any Vampire who knew what he was doing though would arrange to have normie servants hound the Mage, though.
The Technocratic Union > All of them btw.
Who's Grandmother? I don't recall that chart being so big.
Tal'Mahe'Ra > Technocracy
>caine
>god machine
This chart is dumb and I wish people would stop posting it.
The Great Maw, from Orpheus. Might be God's sister. Might be a lot of things though.
Most of those beings are completely irrelevant to Bloodlines that came with new editions of WoD
It's really vague, but it's implied it/she is God's Opposite, was imprisoned but is now free.
Nah. No seriously, nah. The Technocracy is aware of them even but Vampires are too useful to genocide.
It's no worse than and it's fan-boy wankery.
At least the second one shows signs that the creator is well read on WoD.
99 percent of people in these threads have only played the video game.
Thank you two. Guess I have to read up more on WoD lore.
>The Technocratic Union > All of them btw.
this Tbh
reality deviant scum just can't compete
>99 percent of people in these threads have only played the video game.
And you have tg autists leaving their containment gulag coming here spewing their completely irrelevant headcannon wank, the original sheet shows completely relevant powerlevels for the games setting
If they were well read on WoD they'd know you don't make powerlevel charts of nWoD and oWoD mixed together.
nWoD lines are meant to coexist, the powergaps are much smaller. So are we talking about old werewolves, mages, and vampires, or new ones?
Never got people that try to make objective sense of cWoD lore. It's such a convoluted and constantly contradictory mess.
