>Why is [one indie developer] so prone to meltdowns?
Fixed that unfortunate typo in your post, please be more careful next time.

This is hardly the first time an indie dev has a meltdown.

who is
>Falco Girgis
>Brianna Wu
>Phil Fish
>Jonathan Blow
>Hammerpoint Interactive
>Imminent Uprising
>Mike Maulbeck
>etc etc etc

altho difference is the others released a game, falco hasnt and he started 10 years ago

Because they don't actually care about developing games and just want to stroke their egos? Otherwise, they would make a proper game.

Who is this guy and how did he get a fungal infection on his booty hole?

Because they bite off way more than they can chew, then start pre-orders and suddenly are obliged to continue the mind-numbing hours of repetitive coding and crunch that drives any normal person insane. This is because they're all beta NEET males who have no idea how ot properly manage time or set realistic goals for tasks/work and self improvement.

Additionally, they often work with co-workers who are (or simply are themselves) complete fucking children and emotionally unstable wrecking balls.

Because they don't have a boss to slap their shit and get them back to work

>even the guy who made Lisa is having a huge SJW meltdown

>the mind-numbing hours of repetitive coding and crunch that drives any normal person insane.
yeah because game development is such a hard job
truly the most challenging thing any man has ever had to face

Too much butthurt when people asked for refunds?

I never said it was hard, I said it was boring and repetitive. AAA devs are often forced to work 12+ hours a day typing shit into a fucking computer screen.

Do you have any wonder why they go nuts?

Because they're generally manchildren with no work ethic, which is why they can't get real jobs?

>Dude is my age
>Looks like he could be 45
Does indie development speed up death?

Jesus Christ anyone who spouts so much bullshit and loves being on camera as much as this is clearly a faggot of the very highest order.

As much as people hate this guy, any dumbass who donated for 2 failed consoles deserve their money taken. This also shuold tell people that anyone who makes these kickstarters do not have to make the product they claim.

He is clearly our guy and I don't mean this positive.

he's really wearing an Ayn Rand shirt, whilst spouting all this entitled garbage

wow

Because indie devs don't have people to speak to the public for them. And many of them stupidly vent their frustrations out in public via social media, and wrongfully vent against their potential customers like idiots. Many of these people have no concept of business and have gigantic entitlement issues, which again they wrongfully place on potential customers

NEVER FORGET

>Game was supposed to be released for the Dreamcast

Did he come up with that as a pledge bait from nostalgiafags?

Because of the stress, responsibility and they don't work for anyone that'll yell if they don't do shit.
Indie dev mostly working alone, or with so very few people unlike the one who working at office.
If they took kickstarter money, they have some responsibility they must fulfill, this will haunt them all the time as they can't see the end of massive workload, the stress become much more noticeable over time.

They usually not well organized, resulting in bunch of stuff keep left and fall behind the schedule.

Not having absolute-leader figure (boss) will also make the people working on it very easy to get in conflict and quit halfway, leaving the rest with even more workload, not to mention stress from the conflict.

He started developing it around 2004 when dreamcast dev tools were discovered and before steam and xbox live indie games

thats how long it has been in development

Dreamcast is still getting indie games.

>Making a game for 4 years
>Work 8 - 12 hours a day, sometimes no days off
>Just crossing your fingers HOPEFULLY your game becomes a success
>Contemplate whether or not working hard on this game would be worth it if it fails
>On the off-chance it might become a hueg success and you get tons of monies

You'll lose your mind a bit, trust me.

>receive tons of money from people solely on a promise rather than a product, putting absolute faith in you as a person

>hate them for it

Indie devs in a nutshell. Theres no one more entitled and up their own asses than an indie dev

>implying these people work 8-12 hours a day with no days off
>implying its not their own fault for making outrageously big games anyways
>implying even if its true that its excusabel

>success being a driver for motivation
>relying on indie dev as a source of income
Found the problem

CT also had a lot of professional artists and hundreds of people on the team. I bet the total number of hours worked on CT > ES

ES has had some 20-40 people over 10-12 years
as well as 185322 in kickstarter dollars and however much theyve gotten from preorders and the 150000 from razer/ouya
they also have all kinds of dev tools the CT team never had

I dont think so tim

Fuck off. You don't know shit about video game development and the ultimate sacrifice that comes along with it. Losing friends and family and being sheltered while your fucking funds gets drained away? Fuck you. You don't know about struggle and hard work. You're all a bunch of fucking faggot racist white people who don't know squat about shit.

t. falco girgis

>Losing friends and family and being sheltered while your fucking funds gets drained away?
So you admit he's a sheltered entitled twat?

>fungus in anus

lol, too much penis and semen causes that

>10k hair transplant

You seriously don't fucking get it. I worked for my cash you dumb fuck. I worked hard and slow in the IT industry to live off of.

He's an admitted Rapist.

Good for you.
On the other hand Falco took money, failed to deliver a fucking thing, and whines about it.

Hmm

None of them are indie devs; they're professional twitter-posters.

I mean most of them have made independent games, so by definition they are indie devs

All of them have released games except Falco, technically. Even Wu.

Okay, obviously true.

But I think Sup Forums should take note to separate these kinds of loud "indie devs" from the actual devs who create games. Because lumping people like Pixel with these guys is kind of insulting.

Because professional game development is stressful and indie devs haven't been broken by a soulless project manager yet.

Anyone who donates on kickstarter is a fucking retard anyway.

Prove me wrong

Pro tip: you can't

Every project I helped fund got released and was fun to play. I also always went for the "you get the game and this other stuff" tier. Your move.

>Shovelknight

It's preordering tier. Totally pointless and you're making a gamble before the game even exists

It seems like most male indie devs are prone to premature balding. Having a nu-male beard doesn't help either.

Bigdeal. People suffer. Some have suffered worse than others. Just keep going.

Venting is fine but the more you focus on the shittiness instead of what you're doing the worse it can and will get.

>and hundreds of people on the team.

Probably not. The game likely only cost under 1 million.

You could also add Edmun McMillen to the list, but he doesn't lose any progress over meltdown's, just integrity.

>gets self into a situation where you turn into a zombie that begs for sex from people
>other party's fault
They're both criminals at this rate.

>Totally pointless
To be fair, a lot of KS have really good rewards for the bakers, I got two copies of a game plus another game from the same company plus a bunch of extras by backing for less than retail price, so is not necessarily as pointless as preordering.
It is totally a unnecessary gamble tho' but I don't back projects to get the product, I just back things I like to support, I use KS as a over-glorified tip jar, if I get something in return that's cool but ultimalelly just an extra

>giving funding to the developer while they're working is the same as giving money to the publisher in the lead up to the game's release
I always love Sup Forums, the opinions you can find there are so entertainingly stupid.

>I always love Sup Forums, the opinions you can find there are so entertainingly stupid.
I like Sup Forums for the same reason.
