Now that FF15 sold less than the previous FF and that the console market is dying in Japan, will FF16 be the 1st FF to be released on Android/Iphone/As a mobile game?
Final Fantasy XVI

I would only worry about that if FFVIIR sells bad world wide, I don't think they'll base the future of the series on a troubled project that was their first open world work.
Aren't the sales numbers for FF15 in Japan out yet?
They don't make FF logos that aren't the ending of the game anymore, user
Yea, FF7R is pretty much on the level of an actual mainline game, XV is just an upjumped spin-off
I want to laugh at this but given SquEnix's recent track record it seems like a very real possibility
Pretty much.
Though I'm enjoying XV very much.
I thought I read that XV broke a record selling 5 million in the first week?
5 million copies were shipped on day one.
The only reason its considered record breaking is due to the fact that it had a worldwide release. 13 shipped 5 million by the time it launched in the west.

That's the one. Sounds pretty successful, although with a 10 year dev cycle I'm sure it's far from making back its money. I wonder how many would need to be sold for it to be a success?
i am 80% sure they will make a direct sequel to 15.
it just seems rediculous to have that engine, that world, those characters, those assets and not milk more money from fat nerds.
I don't know. Persona 5 sold more units in Japan than Final Fantasy XV. And Square-Enix spent a shitload of money on marketing, a CGI film, anime, etc.
Legacy sales and the eventual PC port + HD remakes next gen says the game will hit the 10M+ mark that it needs
At this point, though, their mobile stuff is actually pretty decent for what it is. Brave Exvious is pretty fun, and I heard Moebius or whatever is shaping up nicely, though I've not played it myself. Dimension also was pretty solid the last I heard.
I think the better question should be why is their AAA games being bested by mobile entries?
There is already like 14-15 final fantasy games on mobile.
>it just seems rediculous to have that engine
Their engine was a failure. Dissidia, WOFF, Kingdom Hearts II.8, Kingdom Hearts III and NieR Automata don't run on Luminous Engine.
Nah, no need to worry as of right now
If FF7 flops, then they're fucked
>Persona 5 sold more units in Japan than Final Fantasy XV
I'm pretty happy to hear that, hopfully it sends a message to both Square to step it up and Atlus that people want more. World wide FF will probably still sell more, although personally I'd love to see Persona somehow overtake it in US sales
And Final Fantasy VII REMAKE.
Or they just continue to pump out dlc like they announced. Welcome to the "games are a platform" era
i haven't bought 15 yet.
will probably get the GOTY edition next year, and i REALLY HOPE that some of the DLC will lead back into the main game and improve it somehow.
cause i like what i am seeing but i also see some things that could easily be improved.
>tfw several mainline's games worth of resources to remake one game because KH/Advent Children kids didn't want to play the "ugly lego block" version
>I don't know. Persona 5 sold more units in Japan than Final Fantasy XV
Retards. There was literally a thread about how XV outsold Persona 5 in Japan with like 300 post not more than 3 hours ago.
Nobody gives a fuck about your autistic high school simulator
maybe this will finally awaken the Squeenix and we can get the blessings of JRPGs back
pic related. its a blessing of a JRPG's misunderstood box character
The games will just be increasingly targeted towards the Western audience
Japan is dead, long live the dirty gaijins
Bravely Default is a better game than any of the Final Fantasys I've played. (1, 6, 7, 10, 13). Extremely underrated
After how they shafted Versus, Nomura should get to do whatever he wants
They confirmed XV is a single title, all the possible stuff they could cover will be in DLC
Nomura should not be alowed to do anything on his own, he sucks, he has always sucked, and you're a retard. Not to say Tabata is better, he might have been f allowed to develop more slowly, but Nomura writes and creates the cringiest shit in the world. I'm older than you and by default, I am correct.
All Tabata did was remix shit Nomura already had in place, get lost.
Reminder Tabata did Crisis Core, and we all know how that went
>no PC release because mug piracy is bad for sale
Guess what else is bad for sales - shit games and bad decisions and treating your customers like second-sort scum
Enjoy your flop
I want to fuck that moth
Probably better that way. Digital only shit with more upside and less risk. I could see them doing a digital stand-alone like what Uncharted 4 is doing.
there's a reason why XV and VIIR are more on action side dude.
even SE knows Japan is a lost cause.
I did play the original VII and I think it can only stand to benefit from being remade.
I'm particularly interested in VII's lackluster translation being revised.
They should stop making them because the genre is dead and will never have anything new to offer.
No one wants to play a neckbeard soap opera with the same boring rpg elements.
The only difference between them is who is the new waifu bait.
All of those projects were done during XV's development, let me clue you in on a little public information
ALL of the Luminous devs were placed on the XV project. ALL of them.
Kingdom Hearts III had to switch engines from Luminous to Unreal 4 because they no longer had access to the engine's developers to help them work with it. The KHIII team, having not created the engine and having no prior experience with the engine, obviously didn't have a smooth time tinkering with it on their own.
None of those other games are running on Luminous because there would be no Luminous team to help them learn how to use it.
Now that XV is finished and released, the Luminous team, and the engine, are free to be used for other projects.
KHfag here
Fuck you I wanted a faithful 7 remake. Seeing those models in that world play in ATB would have been amazing. Instead we get a shitty KH clone
>mfw FF7 has one of the most bland turn based systems imaginable
>people act like its somekind of treasure
even fucking Xenogears had more engaging combat
Don't get me wrong, ATB is garbage. I just wanted the truest 7 remake possible. This game isn't 7 anymore, it's something completely different.
Yea, its the Remake
>yfw Final Fantasy XVI will be a PC game
>it will be based on Agni's Philosophy
I wanted a remake not a remake
Sometimes a complete overhaul can be a good thing

Sure, but in 7 case it's completely changing sub genres. If they had overhauled the ATB into some different form of a turn based system, I'd be fine with it. This just makes it a radically different game from the original, and I really wanted to see what a faithful remake of 7 would look like. This is now more of a modern re-imagining
Realtime battle with character switching sounds like it offers much more for the gameplay than just another turn-based system.
axe console support and send these games to pc. these jrpg are all garbage compared to western rpgs
You're probably right, I even prefer real time to turn based. I still think it's disappointing though.
I'm sure FFXV will get a PC release after ALL the dlc is finished and released.
theyre going to release some co op DLC for FFXV, pay some youtubers to play it, and then little kids will buy it in boat loads
Hardly matters anymore, FFXV is dead and gone so far as I'm concerned. FF7R is the new focus.
>it's something completely different
re·make
rēˈmāk/
make (something) again or 'differently'.
a movie or piece of music that has been filmed or recorded again and rereleased
A remake can mean make something differently or make it all over again. I wanted the second definition.
Maybe they could, y'know, stop obsessing over graphics and make smaller-budgeted games like they promised they would after Bravely Default sold well.
Get Matsuno on as writer and get Ito to direct.
You idiots are pathetic. Just like the Smash retards after their obscure character didnt fucking get in
>make it all over again
Why not just replay VII then?
It just blows me away the things you people think can happen so fast.
Nigger people hated popyeye arms when it released. Especially when they had actualy models from the battles
So you want the exact same game.
With a game on the scale of FF7, it would be a huge waste of time and resources to just follow the old game 1:1 on a remake, you'd be better off just playing the original.
And with Nomura having so much experience in game design, particularly action games, it'd be foolish to not capitalize on it for the Remake.
I heard 8m.
They need to fix their fucking retarded marketing practices. TV ads, sure, but getting Hollywood actors for some shiity CGI film? Nah.
Noruma haters are fucking retarded
I did, and I'll probably continue to do so. But the promise of HD assets and shit is a really interesting proposition.
Yes that's what I've been saying. A faithful remake would be really fascinating
I don't disagree, it's just the less interesting angle in my opinion.
>Final Fantasy XVI - The Perfect Hair
I can already see the mediocrity from XV in this.
They will never make another main game with that much content of 7/8/9 again.
Agni's Philosophy will most likely become FFXVI. I'm almost certain of that.
screencap this: mobile only.
XV has a lot of content
But XVI is already available on android/ios :^)
I'm pretty sure they realize 15 wasn't going to sell well because they let the hype raise and fall for a decade. It didn't help that it was uninspired.
Maybe final fantasy needs to die, finally.
If GBF were a Final Fantasy game, it would certainly be a spinoff title.
In fact, Final Fantasy already has its own answer to that in the form of Brave Exvius.
>split into 3 parts
>Yea, FF7R is pretty much on the level of an actual mainline game
EPISODIC
fuck off. I hope FF7R bombs as well.
The console market was never strong in Japan.
Japan is all about handhelds.
Brave eXVIus is XVI
Meanwhile Persona 5 is doubling 4's sales.
Many Wii U games sell 1 million+ despite smaller user base
Why can't you just accept FF15 is a piece of shit nobody wants?
>on the level of an actual mainline game
WOW NO WAY ITS ALMOST LIKE IT WAS AN ACTUAL MAINLINE GAME ALREADY
You niggers don't even do your research.
>The main reason attempts had failed was because remaking VII on current hardware would be a "massive" undertaking, and if kept within a single installment would require heavy cutting of content.
This was a concern fucking YEARS before it began development.
>Despite continued demands and rumors spread by staff messages within the Compilation titles, various reasons were given for why a remake was not being developed: these reasons included wanting a contemporary title to best the sales and popularity of VII, the wish to focus on new titles, the necessity of deleting parts of the original game to make the project manageable, the difficulty of developing on hardware such as the PlayStation 3, and the required development time being overly long.
en.wikipedia.org
The citations are all there, get fucking reading.
Add back Turn Based side missions, 2D chocobo puzzels, card game, auction house
I'm not dumb enough to fall for PR lies. Why are you?
>FF7 IS TOO BIG FOR ONE GAME
>FF7R IS ADDING NEW SHIT SO EACH EPISODE IS FULL LENGTH
Pick one.
FF7 was already 3 discs on the PS1 retard, its honestly not that unbelievable.
They gave you the 3 discs for 50 bucks, asshole
7/8/9 on PS4 when?
>FF7 was already 3 discs on the PS1
Only because of FMV video file size. Nothing to do with the actual game itself. Also they gave you all 3 discs for the price of one game.
You really are fucking moron aren't you?
fuck that where is 13 trilogy?
On PC
Sure, but if you want the game to be a butchered mess like FFXV because it just so desperately needs to be all on one disc, then I'm glad nobody on the team gives a fuck about what you think.
Your best option is to just wait till all three are released in some special package.
Square Enix are just retarded. This is what Jrpg world map is supposed to be. Not some garbage 1:1 scale open world dull piece of shit.
It didn't have a 10 year dev cycle.
They made a fucking short movie 10 years ago, left it, and started working again 3 years ago.
Bet most of those copies are sitting at shelves. Game underperformed in Japan, there's already signs of it doing bad on the Xbox in the west. The PS4 version is going to need to hard carry, good luck hitting that 10 million goal. lel
It will be a butchered mess no matter what since it is made by modern Square Enix.
Nah, my best option is to not buy it at all and laugh when it also sells less than FF13 did.
>Not turn based
It's already a butchered mess
I replay FF7 every year. I've been wanting a spinoff Cloud action game for the longest time and this will do.
One game had it's highest sales in its series the other is dying and a potential huge financial failure.
...
>Nomura directing, he was the original character designer, did visual directing and came up with the base ideas for the story
>Kitase producing, one of the original writers
>Nojima writing, also one of the original writers
I'm confident they have a better idea on how to handle the game more than any of you idiots ever will.
That is what jrpg's achieved on ps2. When making games with big budgets it's usually trying to push the tech forwards and not backwards.
They should definitely stay on 1:1 scale. The problem is execution
Go and play pokemon you baby.
