Dragon's Dogma. I always loved fantasy and no other game makes me feel like I'm in Middle Earth like DD does.

Night of the Raven is way too hard for someone who plays Gothic 2 for the first time.

Gothic 2 is an absolutely fantastic game anyway, maybe tarnished a bit by the clunky (but functional!) combat and the end dungeon that is too heavy on fighting. A must play for everyone liking RPGs. And its atmosphere is incredible. Characters feel like actual human beings and not just "yes/yes, but later/no" quest switches. Korinis is to this day one of my favourite vidya towns, second only to Majora's Mask's clocktown.

On that note, I recommend Majora's Mask.

DEHR's art direction is absolutely godly, but the graphics and animations are fucking awful. This is before factoring in the piss filter.

Yes but the amount of stuff you miss... the expansion adds fuckton of content not only to the expansion world but throughout the main world too

Yes, but if I would play Night of the Raven as my first Gothic game I would get pretty frustrated after some time. I fear that would put newcomers off.

So the ideal way of playing Gothic is
Gothic 1 -> Gothic 2 -> wait a few months, play some other vidya, get your mind off of it until you feel like playing Gothic 2 again -> play Gothic 2: Night of the Raven -> don't play Gothic 3

It's not good if you want escapism though. The best way to describe the game is that it's absolutely fucking exhausting. If anything, it will make you want to kill yourself

Well, there is a community overhaul that makes it decent. And by decent I mean, compared to modern RPGs. But compared to the old Gothics, it is a piece of shit with and without the community mod.

Yeah, finished it like 5 times or even more aswell.
I liked that the plot didn't revealed "main quest" till halfway or so through it.

Sounds like fun, i'm in mood for depressive vibes right now. Never played it too, watched just few vids on YT.
