I just got done playing dead rising four and I have to say...
Sup Forums was WRONG about this game.
It is some of the most fun I have ever had in a zombie game. It expanded and improved on the shaky dead rising formula. With the removal of time limits I can actually focus on exploring and crafting rather than saving survivors with shit AI.
Speaking of exploring, the world is massive. My biggest complaint about DR3 was the lack of a mall, but this game has the mall and the city around it! There's tons of zombies to kill along the way, btw.
The games story was shocking. It shocked me how good it turned out to be. The twists and turns remind me of the first time I ever played bioshock infinite.
All in all I give the game a solid 9/10. The devs clearly cared about the game and it shows.

People seems to forget the franchise is made by a small studio rather than Capcom themselves

Blue Castle got renamed to Capcom Vancouver only because they worked closely on Dead Rising 2 with capcom japan

Off the record was great because it's basically a rehash of 2.

You can see their true potential with 3 and 4, 3 was very meh and was trying to be modern/realistic while 4 is trying VERY hard to feel like a classic DR game (precisely Off the record)

Fuck off dude. Hes right, Without the first one capturing peoples interest there would be no DR4. The first Dead Rising appeals to the RE1/Dark Souls/Ninja Gaiden crowd because it was hard but rewarding. You literally got more hours of game for caring and doing better and trying harder. Made in a Japanese studio with a vision and a unique tone.

Dead Rising 4 is the literal opposite of that. The main complaint is that the game is too easy. The next complaint is the fact the ending is upcoming paid DLC. Another reason people hate this game is because the tone is completely Saints Row tier.

The devs dont want to make Dead Rising the want to make Saints Row-esque Dynasty warriors. The fans don't want the game the devs made so its their fucking right to not buy garbage because it sends message to take this shit back to the kitchen and do it again.

Dead Rising died after OTR. I watched 30 minutes of a DR4 stream and it was like walking in on my wife getting gang raped by clowns.

OTR isn't canon tho, I played DR1, CZ, DR2, CW, and DR3 with all the DLC. It's a nice trilogy with some side stories, DR3 has a satisfying ending, and the game franchise feels complete. I don't know how I can go from Brad Park Cutting off his chip with a fucking scalpel and abandoning his ZDC job while rescuing the city's surivors and exposing the truth at the same time and then move right on to selfie simulator 2017 with Micheal from GTAV as the main character

the PC configuration menu for this can be summed up to 5 fucking options and nothing else

If you're on Windows 7 or 8 make sure your OS is fully updated, or try reinstalling whatever .Net Framework OTR needs. It's a decent PC port, and will run well, but it is not friendly if your OS isn't fully updated. It'll bug out in the weirdest ways.
