whats the appeal of this game? Not in a negative way, just curious
if you ever played a treasure game, you will know.
fairly fast-paced movement and action.
>there will never be a mischief makers 2
THROUGH FIRE JUSTICE IS SERVED
I never finished that game as a kid and when I tried to emulate it there was a ton of frame rate issues for some reason. Guess I'll never know.
Treasure has a history of their platformers and 2d shooters being the tightest shit. It's hard to point out flaws without really nitpicking; they just get a lot of it right even if the stuff is pretty niche.
STOOOOOOP
Use the emulator bundled with Retroarch. It runs it just fine.
wannabe gamedev here, working on a game (webm related) and people have been comparing it to mischief maker for obvious reasons,
I beat it once back when i had an N64, but i feel it'd be good to ask fans of the game what your personal favorite and least favorite parts of the game are, and what little things do you feel are important to the game?
What I liked most about it was that for a sidescroller game it had a ton of movement options there were two different ways to dash, there was crouch dashing, rolling, and dash jumping, plus you could stay in the air indefinitely as long as you could mash the button fast enough. Just moving through the level felt fun. Plus it had cute and funny dialogue which always helps
>favorite parts
It's been quite a while, but I remember liking the boss fights with Lunar. Jumping on top of missiles and throwing them back at him as you're dodging around his motorcycle.
>least favorite
The button mashing races during the olympic section? I was young. They were hard.
It's looking good. Be sure to post it here when you release it on steam.
Really neat boss fights
A HERO IS SHINING ARMOR IS CALLED
To punish evil forces, I HAVE BEEN CHARGED!
I should really play the game again. It's been long enough
Looking back, Mischief Makers might be the first game I played where the villains genuinely thought themselves to be heroes fighting evil.
It confused my babby mind a bit.
One of my favorite games.
Still no idea what it was about, though. Why was the final boss those animal guys? You already beat them by that point.
I guess Maria never actually killed them. So they kept coming back.
They even come back post-credits to be returned to human form if you collect enough of those secret gems.
>to be returned to human form
I didn't even know they weren't supposed to be animals. I don't think that was mentioned anywhere.
also if you get every gem maria becomes human
It wasn't even mentioned until the bonus post-credits scene, if I remember correctly.
I vaguely remember the final implication was that they were a team of heroes who came to help the planet before Marina showed up, and ended up being brainwashed by the emperor.
>never came to VC
Nintendo is gay.
>that last shot of the professor
>tfw you heard them all in your head
really?
Really really.
