28 different damage types

>status setting is necessary but not stupidly powerful
>unit positioning actually requires thought
>even common mook demons present a challenge on normal difficulty
>contact system is actually somewhat fair compared to recruiting in most SMT games
>genuinely intriguing story
>sublime aesthetics and music
Is this the most underrated JRPG ever made?

A bad translation caused it
Also a port that doesn't have double BGM didn't help a lot
But still a pretty good game

>genuinely intriguing story
Is it just another case of high schoolers killing god while dealing with the ordeals of puberty, as usual?

>music
>OP pic is PSP remake.

I really really hope you aren't saying what I think you're saying.

no god, more like an experiment gone horribly wrong making a very sick girl's perception of the world real, manifesting her inner demons / persona. so mostly the puberty part but made interesting

I really gotta replay it at some point. I missclicked a dialogue option and didn't realize it till I got the bad ending...

As for the soundtrack, that's always one of the best parts of Persona games. I don't really care for anime but for whatever reason I absolutely adore these games.

Forgot to mention that I patched in the original soundtrack. Its practically a given though, pretty much the first piece of advice you'll get when you wanna play the game.

S L O W combat, even when compared to the games before it. The gameplay in general feels like such a godamn slog.

>shit hallway dungeons
>random encounters every 2 seconds

No shit is ass

I wish you could waste a turn repositioning mid battle and the enemies could do the same. I don't know why people think the new persona games has better battle system. I enjoyed Persona 1's battle system a lot more then the other Persona games.

nah

>People in this thread dissing the sound track
Literally the best part of the game

I don't care for the remake's OST..which you posted.

Can't fault you for that. It's all subjective.

I played the PS1 version just because the PSP version seemed to have gimped the sfx, but I found it refreshing since I hadn't played a JRPG in years, let alone one as dated as P1. Really loved the weird mood and oldschool music. Gameplay was slow as balls, though, and changing formation was a pain in the bum.

I went on to play 2:IS but I got burnt out after the Aerospace Museum, even though the story seemed to be picking up. Will resume eventually.

>God

Are Lovecraftian horrors gods or demons? I'm not sure.

I actually loved the story in the game, especially going in with previous expectations from Persona 4. It's one big wild ride that kept me guessing.

>Visit sick friend in hospital.
>Suddenly, earthquake and building layout is shifted all about, cut off from sick friend.
>Escape the hospital, explore town, find the few city blocks we're in are sealed and demons are running about.
>Meet up at the school which has become a stronghold.
>Which suddenly becomes inaccessible just after you leave.

>Find out the cause of things is coming from a corporation who apparently made a device that transports the player to a parallel dimension.
>EXCEPT, it's slowly revealed it's not, and instead is the dream world of the sick girl you went to see who's powering the machine you used.
>And the big bad is the head of the corporation who's ruling this place as a god since it's a dreamworld, except he's going to pull his power into the real world and rule it there.

>And then, you find out that he instead was having his strings pulled by a nihilistic demi-god spun from your friend's dispair, so you have to choose to either kill your sick friend and end this or venture back into the dream world to destroy it before it escapes and brings the real world to nothing.

Honestly an amazing game with the potential for failure throughout if you don't choose the right stuff for the story.

>28 different damage types
You never use that many because there is no reason to at all
>unit positioning actually requires thought
aside from the final boss this is just plain wrong
>even common mook demons present a challenge on normal difficulty
man i love this game but how bad do you gotta be to unironically think that, this game is literally hold fast forwards on your emulator and let it auto battle for anything but bosses

Who /SnowQueenQuest/ up in here?

Different writers user. Seriously, Tadashi Satomi should return to Atlus and replace Hashino.

...

Nah, Revelations is pretty much garbage, but the characters and story are fine.

Nanjo a best.
