I've never played a Final Fantasy before, I think now it's the time since XV came out.

Which one should I start? I'm being honest here.

The original, sherlock

VI or VII are the safest ones.

I'd start with IV.

Start with X-2

Always go with release order.

don't listen to this gaylord

>What can I do for you user?

Start with 15.

I second this. IV gives you a taste of everything the series has to offer with a typical FF story, setting and characters.

Most people normally start with VII. May as well do the same. It seems to go well. Come back once you've done so, then tell us what you liked and disliked and we'll give you some recommendation based on that. VI is also a good starting point. Alternatively make it simple and just play everything starting from I.

Although you can elaborate right now too. Are you mainly after gameplay, combat, customization, story, pacing, characters, world type, atmosphere or something else in particular?

Depends how old you are and what other rpg's you like. If you don't mind sprites then FF6, the safe bet and most people's first is 7 and the last one most people agree is good is 10 so I guess either of those three.

Don't listen to these people telling you to start with 1. 1-3 should usually be avoided, they've not aged well. 4 and 5 are still good but I wouldn't recommend them unless you're already a fan. 6-10 are the safe bets (though a lot of people hated 8), I'd go in that order and if you liked them circle back to 4 and 5.

Just stay away from the mobile ports, they're uggo as fuck.

I think a lot of people forget how fucking slow the original game is.

13.

IV, V or VI if you want some classic 2D shit.
VII or X for babby's first JRPG.
XII for something different but neat.
I on GBA for something to play on your way to work.
Spin-offs like Tactics and Crystal Chronicles for actually good games.

>fucking slow
Based on what? VII is far slower than I progression-wise since the original one is mostly a single-player D&D adventure pack.

alright, I hate phone games tho

4 is probably the most difficult game in the entire series, especially the late game.

I'd probably go with 5-9. Any one of those games would at least warm you up to the series.

VI or VII are probably the most accessible though.

Honestly OP, just play Square's best RPG.

If they called this game "Final Fantasy VII", it would be unanimously considered the best Final Fantasy.

play FFI (Dawn of Souls) and/or FFV. the former is a straightforward RPG and the latter has a great job system
