What happened?

Many SKUs and products make it more difficult for retailers and distributors

Not cost effective.

Huh, I never noticed before but they're copying Apple in both of those pics. The N64s are from the multi-colored clear plastic fad the iMac kicked off in the late 90s. The Wii U is sporting the acrylic white iPod look.

remember when the Wii was supposed to come in a bunch of colors?
>tfw no green Wii

I have a red one and a blue one. The red's the most effective.

It's because the Wii U failed to sell a lot.

You got your multiple colors wish with the 3ds.

I always wanted a trans n64 but had the boring black instead.

Apple

>trans
>black
Fuckin' liberals.

N64: 1996
iMac G3: 1998
You: 2010

gameboys before even that

Nintendo sold out and stopped making proper video game consoles and replaced them with gimmick machines and exploitable merchandising.

is that yours user?

To this day I still want a fucking orange GBA with backlight

I didn't say I liked the black one.

gimmick machines

exploitable merchandising

Nintendo have been churning out gimmicks from day one:
>Power Glove
>Zapper
>pic fucking related

add-on content to play certain games.
not entire systems.

Times changed and consoles are marketed as "tech," not toys.

Spice was the top tier color.

Clear plastic was cool in the mid 90's, sleek black or white shit is cool now.

Apple probably had a big hand in the latter but they didn't start the clear plastic thing.

God bless America user

couldnt compete in hardware had to count on gimmicks to stay alive
