So aside from being an all around well made indie game, I honestly think the design of Shovel Knight is good. Actually manages to pull off a modern mascot character well without stealing or overdesigning or underdesigning. He's also a moralfag done okay too.

He's a literal cuck.
Not really. That's Black Knight.
Black Knight DLC when?
It would be great if they make Shovel Knight 2 in 16-bit style and Shovel Knight 3 in 32-bit style like a platformer of that era, think Mischief Makers
I believe truly that, if Shovel Knight was created in the same age as the games it homages and simulates it would be a beloved character just like Mario, Megaman and company. The game is amazing.
His game would probably have the new game plus checkpoints and a live system in place of the gold, while also being a bit less visually impressive, at least in terms of colors.
I do agree though.
I like Shantae more, as a character and as a game series.
Shovel Knight was fun, but I just couldn't get into Plague Knight. Wonky jumps, strange attack angles, it just felt awkward.
Shantae is good, I like Shovel Knight a hell of a lot more though.
Shovel Knight is already 32-bit-- the graphics in that game far exceed the capabilities of the Snes and Genesis in terms of sprite limits and parallax scrolling.
>His game would probably have the new game plus checkpoints and a live system in place of the gold
So it'd be better then. Shame it had to come out in an age of players being impatient casual babbys
this is such a common complaint about plague knight but you pretty much get the hang of it after the first two levels. after that, its even better than the base game
Shantae/Shovel Knight crossover, when?
How is Yacht Club not running out of money while making all the free DLC?
>couldn't get into Plague Knight
fucking casuals I swear. It's one of those things that's weird at first but it gets better the more you play. And I played all the game with the bouncy suit on. Samus' screw attack paled compared to the madness I was unleashing on the screen sometimes
I think he's talking more art style than technical limitations. Make it look like the different generations of technological advancement not achieve it by some technicality regarding things most people never noticed.
shantae backer leak when?
By selling the game to the same people 3 times over.
Parralax, yes
But the art and pallette aren't too far off from an NES game like little Samson or something
>the bouncy suit
Fucking FINALLY somebody else who knows how to do it, the bouncy suit lets you do so many fucking RAD tricks it's the only reasonable choice
Check this shit out:
>implying he isn't SK's little brother
With the new DLC being a prequel i can't wait to see younger Shovel and Black knight being trained by Polar Knight
stupid Shantae poster
>get the slime cloak
>learn how to triple jump
By the end of the game i was so fucking good at jumping i could just speedrun most levels, the notscrewattack only made things easier
Shit, I should play through Plague of Shadows again.
Holy shit, all I did was use the cloak customization for the golden skin, but I can do that shit?
any other levels where you can do such gigantic skips?
Damn!
I had trouble getting used to Plague Knight in my first playthrough when the DLC was released. Replaying it right now and it clicked for me. Still need to work on my skill tho.
let's say that my usage was more "chaotic" but that's because I'm a scrub. Shit is so cash
>well
A knight. With steer horns. And a shovel.
Not only are knights fucking outdated, the horns and shovel are lacking in any substance and fall as flat as some mobile game.
Stupid Shovel Knight Redditor.
Have a pity (You) lad, you seem rather starved for attention if you're this desperate.
Stupid Dumbass Fucktard Shantae and Shovel Knight Memeposters
You should mess around with the bomb upgrades a bit, you can change em on the fly and makes tackling certain situations interesting and different
No, (You) definitely need the (You) if (You)'re responding without valid arguments.
He's only a mascot because they shove him into practically any indie game that'll accept his cameo.
I have nothing against the game, but seeing him shoehorned into everything is annoying.
If it makes you feel any better, I liked Shovel Knight more than Risky's Revenge.
>tfw I bought the game three times
I also bought the Shovel Knight Amiibo
Maybe not quite as giant, but there are plenty of vertical parts you can scale in a flash by double-bouncing on the walls with the goo garment to just zig-zag up the side. I remember this one on the Tower of Fate in particular, you just hit the two walls to climb up, and use your double jump to move back to the other ladder. Get creative with it, it's loads of fun.
>Bought the game 4 times, once physically and once as a gift
>Bought the amiibo
>Bought a shirt, and have this poster coming in the mail soon, also bought a keychain at PAX
>My friend bought me a Plague Knight plushie and another shirt
...I have a problem
are you people who are buying this game three times the same people who think this game could've been done on actual NES hardware
I remember that one, most of tinker knight's stage can also be skipped pretty easily if you double bomb jump
It's a simple concept, executed well. Familliar Knight concept with a twist: his weapon is a shovel. That's interesting.
>Backed for 3DS
>Bought the Amiibo
>bought the Wii U version
If they release a complete version with the Plague, Specter, and King Knight DLC included after this is all over I'll buy that too. Fuckers earned my money at this point.
I wonder what Shovel Knight would be like with a sword.
I mean, you get the complete version just owning the game.
Shovel Knight is old news. The real indie star that usurped the Cave Story killer's throne is Undertale.
well they both appear in Individible. that's something i guess
I want this game to beat Braid.
I know you're trying to start shit, but I think Undertale was good for a playthrough. Just a walking simulator with some neat jokes and I liked the pacifist route and soundtrack, but it doesn't hold up on multiple playthroughs. It is insubstantial as a game.
A complete physical package without having to download updates.
Ah. That'd be neat
I'd probably buy it too.
The Vita physical version came out recently.
Make sure to buy it.
Meanwhile:
So how does he look like without the armor?
I'm good thanks. Wii U physical is all I need.
Fuuuuuck, I really regret backing that.
Probably just an average looking manlet.
...
Shovel knight was genuinely fantastic, the only people who disagree are either so bitter that they're beyond saving or just trying to stir shit up.
Plague knight was better though
Shield Knight co-op campaign when?
>tfw that's what I thought the amiibo would do before they showed gameplay of green knight
>Unironically looking forward to SPecter Knight more than any actual game coming out next year.
I can't stop being so hyped.
Ready for a new Troupple dance?
>moralfag
>durrr muh edgy teenage faggot morality is bad meme
>Fuuuuuck, I really regret backing that.
You learned a valuable lesson: Inafune is fucking worthless. Let this guide the rest of your life and your future decisions.
>Unironically looking forward to SPecter Knight more than any actual game coming out next year.
You and me both, and i'm looking forward to a lot next year.
This
I just don't back shit anymore, lesson learned. Also backed Shantae around the same time and I get that next week, but i'd have bought it regardless, which i'll probably do with Yooka Laylee and Bloodstained when they come out.
I'm fucking ready for armor that lets me scythe grind on any surface. Shit's gonna be cash.
This
I wasn't hyped for it until they announced that the campaign was built from the ground up and isn't another side story
I'm just worried I won't be gud enough to do cool things with Specter
There's decent projects. Like shovel knight or dreadout (lots of people forgot it was crowd sourced). It's just that crowd funding is all about hype, and it's hard to determine who are the phonies who can't deliver and who are actual competent devs.
Crowd sourcing is about sorting these out. Anyone can make big promises and show off drawings. Few can produce a competent game.
>HEY GUYS WHAT IF WE PORTED OUR GAME TO EVERY FUCKING CONSOLE EVER THAT WON'T END BADLY OR HURT THE QUALITY AT ALL
At least Inticreates gave us something good in the meantime.
Making it 3D and wanting to port it to everything was stupid. If it was a simple 2D engine it COULD work on everything, including the 3DS and the PSP.
The series needs more merchandise, I want a plague knight to sit on my desk
Why is this the only WebM you ever post of that game?
How have so little people played shovel knight and its been out for so long? Its a great game
Would you catch her?
>All that green and brown
Cool gameplay but fuck me that's ugly.
Wasn't FTL crowdfunded? That turned out alright.
They do it for free
Shovel Knight is so overrated.
This. Best thing is its FREE
Nah.
That's gotta be outdated. Yacht Club posted about passing one million sales back in April.
Thats a Steam page.
It gets a lot of love, but that's because it's a competent platformer with competent story that also gets a lot of free extra content.
To clarify they passed one million total sales last December, and one million digital sales in February, with Steam, 3DS, and Wii U being the top selling versions in that order.
Plague Knight is the better gamemode.
Do we know what Specter's story is yet? Like why he's fighting the other knights?
It's a really great game, from a genre that is beloved by many (probably muh nostalgia, but doesn't matter why people like it) but that is mostly negleted by big publishers and only has shit indie games for it.
>Yacht Games got so much dosh they are becoming a publisher
It's impressive, I hope they do well as publishers
>wayforward's Duck tales remake modest sales
>Shovel Knight does way better
Why is that? Duck Tales is an established brand with nostalgia. They were wanting to cash in on that. Shovel Knight came out of nowhere.
Overall sales are over 1 million. Steam it's around 400,000, which makes it the biggest single platform for it.
It's a prequel and he's recruiting them for the Enchantress. We'll get playable flashbacks to when Specter Knight was alive and he has some connection to the Tower of Fate and died there. All we know so far.
Should I buy it on GOG or Steam?
not mine. got it from /m/.
DuckTales was underwhelming. Should've just made a third game instead.
>Shovel Knight came out of nowhere.
Shovel Knight got where it is by word of mouth honestly. Everyone was talking about it when it came out and people still talk about it because he remains relevant through the content updates, and for better or worse, the cameos.
A plumber. With a hat. And a mustache.
A kid. With a sword. And pointy ears.
>Should I buy it on GOG or Steam?
Eh it's pretty musch the same but GOG is DRM-free
The only advantage Steam have is achievements so you can brag to your friends
A Hedgehog. With running shoes. Going fast
That's awesome, I thirst for the lore
I still haven't done all the feats in either campaign.
I haven't even done Plague Knight's NG+ either.
I might get started on that soon.
A boy who can make his fists grow
A dude with a bunch of magical basks
A knight with a huge beard who throws joustling lances at people
...
