nothing it's fine as vanilla
>needing mods as soon as you start the game
Just enjoy the fucking game as it is, you fat spoiled shit.
ZRP for bug fixes
Absolute Nature & Structures for higher resolution textures.
Don't bother getting any gameplay changing mods on your first run.
Wow Sup Forums is shit and retarded, OP didn't even say anything about this being his first run.
I'm doing a playthrough with this moddb.com
So far it seems to just add weapons and make the game look prettier. Which is what I like.
autumn aurora 2
If you want vanilla 2.0 and graphics get Autumn Aurora
if you want new content and features get OGSE 0693
Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.
Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.
>yet another "realistic weapons" package
gee, it's not like we didn't have 2000 of those already. Can't wait to see how they rape the style and balance of the game.
The only difference I'm seeing from vanilla so far is that buckshot fucks people up much harder, including yourself
Bandits oneshot you with their toz
complete (^:
Get AA2, makes the game not feel like cheap slav shit from 2004
Been there, done that. Many times.
AMK1.4 = still the definitive STALKER experience.
AMK
Uninstall wizard.
Would it be even remotely possible to play this with a controller, or would that be all kinds of fucked?
I'm fine with switching to mouse+keyboard to manage inventory and things like that.
Maaaybe with one of those steam controllers, otherwise no
sounds fucking miserable
Well fuck this game then.
>I'm fine with switching to mouse+keyboard to manage inventory and things like that.
Why not just play with M&KB from the start?
I got nothing to say.
Didn't know this was a you love you lose thread.
I can't play action games like that.
please end your life.
...
>want to play SoC
>see all those walls of text about the best mods and how to install them and shit
>fuck this
>started playing vanilla
>1 hour later
>sick and tired of the view bobbing
>graphics are mediocre at best
>already found 10 bugs or so, some of them quite serious
>download Complete mod
>run the installer and let it do everything automatically
>start playing
>everything that annoyed me in the game is gone
>graphics are gorgeous
>play the entire game with the mod
>love every second of it
>finish it with what would be considered 100% completion, there was literally nothing I hadn't done or stone left unturned
>immediately start a second playthrough because I loved it that much
Come at me hardcore stalkerfags. So what if it changes a few things that make the game easier? That's almost insignificant compared to the innumerable positive things it does. It's also piss easy to install. I had tons of fun playing it and I regret nothing.
DoctorX's stuff is usually the way to go. I play his desolation mod (fewer NPCs) with his quest mod and that cool dynamic HUD that's one of the top 5 mods for CoC.
Shadow of Chernobyl is an impressive mod that links the maps of all three games (and then some) with its own plot. It's free, provided you have the registry entry for Call of Pripyat installed.
It IS a mod. But there are mods for it.
How about you LEARN to play them like that, like everyone else?
>installing obsolete, buggy and casual as fuck mod to "fix" a thing that could've been fixed in 2 seconds via console command
The game also looks damn good, without having to use ancient, poorly optimized bloom + blur mods.
Sounds like you had a good time. It's all that matters. Now play Misery.
...
>So what if it changes a few things that make the game easier?
"few" is an understatement. And it does not hing but harm the experience.
GJ for not using fucking official patches as well.
>It IS a mod. But there are mods for it.
SoC is NOT a mod. It's the FIRST GAME of the series, moron.
You're thinking of CoC. Call Of Chernobyl.
And it's boring as fuck The Faction War ripoff.
Don't confuse 'hardcore' with fun. Some of those realism mods are shit.
SoC Alpha also sucks. You can see why these parts were removed, completely obliterate the game's atmosphere.
I uninstalled the dynamic HUD mod after 10min. It sounds cool on paper but gets annoying quick.
is there a way to get just the graphics upgrades for autumn aurora and not the gameplay stuff?
Yeah, you can. A steam controller would be preferable though.
just use Starter Pack for graphics
just use the enb
>that grass density and distance
enjoy your raped performance.
Also, what's with people and wanting the games to look brown?
Since there's no mods that take Anomalies out and they make the game fucking stupid and unplayable, just dont play it its not worth it.
I finished my first run, a vanilla run two weeks ago. Itll be a while before I play again but the big things would be making the game more lethal both ways.
master difficulty is one shot headshot play. it wasnt till the endgame I had weapons accurate enough to do that with. having to crouch and spam 10 rounds into this fucker's head kills immersion
healing items were too plentiful. besides not bringing ANY radiation meds to the sarcphagus or a scientist suit, there wasnt any point in time after agrophom research that i was in danger of dying because I always had health items. Id like to kill and be killed easier, but also face a more realistic amount of enemies. I dont think I ever fought a firefight from army warehouse on involving less than 15 enemies.
>wanting to get rid of anomalies
look at this pleb
If you didn't pop heads already with a scoped AK, you are literally just a bad player.
Also it's funny how more "realistic" things, like guns NOT being laser-accurate magical enemy destroyers, is somehow "immersion killing".
Misery is a godawful experience, full to the brim with fake difficulty, please explain why people like it?
>fake difficulty
funny way of saying "I'm a bad player".
stuff like MISERY is exactly what 10-year veteran players like me NEED to get any challenge out of the games these days.
Spotted the DSP fanboy.
then idk what i was doing wrong. Semi auto crouched, at it wasnt till the g36 that i got one shot kills. Im a /k/ fag. I can deal with drop, but 20 moa guns are fucking stupid. if I am 50 goddam meters from the target, my bullets shouldnt be falling 10 inches from his head
I'm currently doing an Autumn Aurora 2 playthrough of SoC on Master difficulty, I'm not a neophyte by any measure, and still MISERY feels like a bloated mess that had all the pleasure pumped out of to me.
I reiterate, what makes MISERY fun?
After reaching midway of the game every installment i start to play like that with the vintorez. Liquid gold ejaculation.
Also dat ricochet every time the bullet bends right after hitting a head.
>I reiterate, what makes MISERY fun?
It actually creates a proper "hobo phase" into the game, and does not treat you like a child. Everything you need in the mod, you actually earn. The first few days with the mod, I was literally making constant decisions whether to use the few spare rubles I got on a piece of bread, or few bullets for my peashooter I'd found lying around.
I did start with both the Dark Mode and Black Road options to boot.
This nigga gets it.
VSS is true gentlemen's rifle, and real gamers master the bullet drop on ALL their guns.
Play it stock with the latest patch once before you mess around with mods.
This
Also fov change
>implying anyone will give you shit for enjoying STALKER in any shape or form
Im glad you enjoyed complete, its pretty convenient I wont lie and much better than people say, definetly not shit or bad as most tell you.
I couldnt play past the garbage in AMK without removing all the camera shake when shot shit or past Agropom without reducing the retardedly high damage down to about 1/5 and reducing the electro chimera radius down aswell for good measure without even fighting one first, by then I figured it would be retarded aswell and it likely was.
I had a fucking blast with artifact transmute, which sadly was kinda buggy for some things like Titan Kolobok or Controller Scalp recipes, that I didnt like, so I simply modified the deserter soldier quest and added every single recipe in the game to his dialogue thing and unlocked everything right then and there.
I also didnt like how the random stashes worked on that mod and simply swapped it for another treasure list I liked more and increased the artifact stash chance and contents to make it more fitting for AMK and its focus on artifacts
And also added more carry capacity because I like collecting things, specially artifacts, and the game had already bugged once and deleted most of the weapons I had kept somewhere else once, so better carry them with me.
And also made the player run about 15% faster to save some time.
And made nights brigther.
I didnt even get to the CNPP and it was fucking fun as hell, played that mod for about 2 months 2-3 hours a day.
>that perfect loop
Friendly tip, don't be intimidated by anyone in exoskeleton suits they're completely worthless in SoC and anyone wearing them can still be killed with just one headshot or a grenade, including you if you wear one.
They can and will survive grenades, and the AI is pretty good about dodging them.
They do die in a single headshot, though. They're fucking hard to kill with hits anywhere else, though, so if you don't have anything accurate or can't get close you're fucked.
You gotta be sneaky about using a grenade, if you land one below them and they don't see it to run in time they'll die. Its what I do for that mission you get at the bar to kill a master Stalker wearing an exoskeleton.
Also does anyone know if it is possible to get the random blowouts in the Amk mod to happen again after beating the game? I don't like how they don't happen anymore even though I read that in the sequel that blowouts have actually gotten a lot worse and more frequently.
