RE2 REMAKE: THE GREAT DEBATE

Long story short:

I argue RE2make will be cinematic angles.
Friend argues that will never sell, will be third person shooter like all the modern games.

My counterpoint: But muh GC REmake! They did it then, they'll do it now!
His counterpoint: RE4 wasn't made yet. They'll never go back to the classic style, newfags equate Leon with action game third-person shooters.

My Counter-counter: But that'll upset the old fans!
His shutdown: Capcom doesn't give a fuck.

He's right, isn't he?

>tl,dr: Will RE2make play like 6 or like 2?

You're friend is a fucking retard.

pretty gay OP.
REmake 2 should control like Onimusha Warlords.

Oh god, why did they fuck up Leon in RE6 by the end when they were doing such a good job? I liked Leon from RE6 over RE4 desu. A lot of people didn't like him in RE4 because he was an ass.

But how would you aim up or down? If they're gonna go fully old-school then I can't seem them changing the controls outside of adding the 180 degree turn.

It's probably been canceled.

If they remake 2 they should just do what they did with the REmake, and this is coming from someone that liked the newer games. I just don't want to hear the fans crying because it's another third person shooter.

>But how would you aim up or down?
by moving the analog stick up or down. analog head movement

REmake 2 should be over the shoulder

>tfw Capcom remakes RE2 as a rail shooter

>people don't like clever use of camera angles any more

I have my doubts. You see, we can expect anything from Capcom, but then again, they've recently re-released REmake and Zero, and they did pretty well. Now Capcom knows cinematic angles still hold up and people are asking for more, so there's a high chance they'll follow the same design choices.

Why not both?

Add a casual difficulty that let's the player have third person camera like RE4. Kinda like how the newest REmake let the player choose whether or not they wanted tank controls.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Onimusha warlords didn't have directional(?) aiming. If you aimed at an enemy you would just attack them, you wouldn't go for the legs or head specifically.

Which made sense because the enemies were a lot faster and more vicious than a standard zombie so you had to be able to dash around and get out of danger.

Honestly being able to move and shoot was pulled off really well in Dino Crisis 2 but a lot of the tension and fear in RE2 comes from the controls being rather limited/shitty so I'm all for the original controls.

But like said it's probably never gonna actually come out.

I think if they're smart and want really good sales they will go with the RE4 game play.

If 1 and 0 weren't changed, except for the updated control option, why would 2? They need to do something to appease people who aren't thrilled about 7 being first person.

It's not that easy. It'd be like making two separate games. It would either be unplayable with tank controls or super easy with third person perspective.

didn't the independent dudes who were cooking up REmake2 have an over the shoulder camera?

I wonder if capcom just seized their shit, UBCS/USS style

But I don't know, he makes a good point. We're both very happy with the original games as opposed to the new ones, but you can't sell games for a full price tag that are
>A. That short, or
>B. That ~~~~~~~~~DATED~~~~~~~~~~

Critcucks and casuals will raise shitstorms over "TOO CLUNKY! TOO DATED! WHERE'S THE HUD? TOO SHORT! RIPOFF!"

Just like they did with the HD GCREmake and Zero.

>fixed angles but you can change your angle from other fixed points

No he's not.

They already abandoned the old RE4 style for RE7.

You're friend is retarded. REmake2 was greenlit following the good reception of the re-release of REmake.

>They need to do something to appease people who aren't thrilled about 7 being first person.
I'd say fuck them if I were a business manger for Capcom or put RE4 camera and RE2 camera in the game.

A lot of sale potential here to just pander to the old crowd who may not still buy or even play games anymore. Compare both recently remade games to the when they originally came out and there's a huge dip-off in sales. So again, not worth 100% pandering to the old generation.

You've just reminded me that old RE's didn't have HUD at all. Weird... I don't remember the last time I played a modern game without one.

They said the same shit about REmake for newer consoles and it sold millions . Its almost as if the shitter fanbase of the series is the minority.

is call Remake 2 for a reason, it will be like the original games.

That it, enough arguing

>is call Remake 2 for a reason

It's called Resident Evil 2, just like the remake of the first game is called Resident Evil.

A title doesn't mean shit, though

Dunno about that, a lot of logic being made here

The re-release of Remake sold over a million copies digital only and is one of the fastest selling digital releases Capcom has ever made and they said as much in an interview a while after its release.
That's for just a rerelease of Remake, so a new Remake of RE2 has potential to do even better than that.

They already did

Lel

>Changes camera to over the shoulder
>Suddenly have to make massive changes to the core gameplay because the whole thing plays fundamentally differently.

Seems like a lot of work for something that would be very controversial. The alternative control options in the other remaster made the game super friendly to modern audiences already.

It will be just like it was when it originally released. Tell you're friend he's a daft cunt and wrong

How about those people buy RE: Revelations and its sequel since it's still using the RE4 style gameplay.

Or buy Evil Within.

This easily. Maximize sales you should pander to both crowds.

That's not very nice though, he's a cool guy he's just trying to think about things from a business perspective.

It just seems like they'd go for the RE4 nostalgia bucks
>Hey you hip 20-somethings, remember back in the GOOD OLD DAYS of CLASSIC GAMES when you were growing up playing games on your RETRO game consoles, such as the Playstation 2 and the gamecube?
>Member Resident Evil 4? Member Leon? We member! Don't you wanna play the game he came from? And look, it's just like you remember!

So the question is really just which fanbase is bigger and more likely to buy vidya, RE2 or RE4 nostalgiafags.

Who cares RE2 faggots are fucking cancer.

No bully!

But We've had the RE4 type gameplay for 11 years now.

>member Resident Evil 4?
Sure I do, you only port it to every goddamn console that's out there.

So you want more, right? Everyone loves RE4!

For real though, does anyone even want a game in the old style? Classic or not most people I talked to couldn't stand the tank controls and the camera angles, just the oldfags liked it.

If I want more RE4, I'll buy Evil Within.

>most people I talked to couldn't stand the tank controls and the camera angles,

Most people you talked to are flipper handed retards

Re2 remake will be fps, screencap this.

they''re building it off that guy's fan remake of re2 built in ue4
which was a tps

honestly the chronicles games were great
made for a fun rail shooter, plus it helps condense and explain the plot to series newcomers

If it plays like a modern RE and not like how REmake was, I will probably kill myself.

I do.

This year was the first time I played REmake thanks to being featured on plus and I was too young to play the original Resident Evil by myself (watched my mom and older cousin play instead) let alone finish it.

I can say with no nostalgia that I loved it.

Tank Controls weren't a problem, The Angles were great and minus one moment in the caves with Chris, I didn't mind the backtracking.

Darkside was great!
Honestly though, outside of the original segments Umbrella Chronicles was complete unrepentant dogshit. Especially the RE3 section, good GOD that was the biggest disappointment of the entire shitty pile.

Everything it got wrong, though, Darkside got right. I just wish they were Wii Motion Plus / Zapper compatible, because then they could function as actual light gun shooters.

...if the zapper had sights.

Capping, if you're right I kill you

It HAS to be dated, because they raped the main entry so bad they need archaisms to counterbalance. REmake worked well even with 360 controls, so it's inexcusable to do otherwise.

can they just hurry up and put 2 and 3 on psn already

Soooooo
3 is an eventual given, but should they remake Code Veronica too? The voice acting is goofy, but a lot of the times it's alright, and the gameplay is fucking fantastic. However, the environments are the most bland in the series thanks to them being 3D, allowing for cool panning and zooming effects even with the normal fixed angles, but they're still boring as fuck, and the models, character movements, etc. don't even begin to compare to the gamecube ones.

Is it worth it? I love that game, but it seems weird to give an "HD Remake" to a Dreamcast game.

They are

We thought 2 was a given back on the gamecube. I wouldn't count my chickens

They will only make a 4k remaster and pc port, and that's it. Geometry is good enough to not care.

Both Chronicles games have entirely too few path selection segments for my tastes.

But I guess, for some reason, lightgun games didn't catch on on the Wii for them to have too much competition.

No classic RE gameplay no buy.
Besides the level design isnt designed for RE4 shooter type gameplay. So they will have to redesign alot of the areas to fit the new gamestyle which is shit if you try to remake the original as close as possible.

RE2make will be in the style of REmake, otherwise it wouldn't be billed as a remake. People want the game in its original conceptual form, not some complete reimagining. Hell, Capcom even had the basic presence of mind to retain classic gameplay elements even in 6 which was the biggest departure to date, and 7 is their newfangled work

This. I played the REremake the first time earlier this year having never really touched the series outside of a few minutes with 5 and I loved it. The tank controls were never an issue and anyone who says they are should stick to playing Gone Home

I can see Remake2 adding more things that transfer from Scenario A to B.

RE2 remake should be a 3rd person shooter. If you want the old style, go play the old game.

If you want a third person shooter go play Resi 4 and it's HD rerelease you actual retard

>Hirabayashi will also use his findings from Resident Evil 6 to shape the upcoming remake, which is being monitored by original Resident Evil 2 programmer Hiroyuki Kobayashi.
>"And of course I saw a lot of the feedback on Resident Evil 6 and have taken on board everything I've heard from the fans about the game and I want to show you what it taught me with through the next experience I'll be bringing to you."

So it's just going to be an RE2 flavored RE6 clone.

Ha ha you and your friend should settle this by slapping your ducks together ha ha. Like what if you got on top of him naked and slid your dick on his haha. What if you slide all around and make a big mess haha. What would it smell like haha just curious haha. Like you could make the loser wear panties haha.

I'm sorry.

>daily express
I'm completely fine with this actually happening though

...

>He's right, isn't he?
Probably. But we can dream, dammit!

I like co-op tho.

WTF, for some reason action fucking skyrockets in these games, dont they play their shit before they let this cancer out of their studio?

I'm honestly left wondering what Capcom intends to add.

REmake wasn't just the touched up angles, or even the fakeouts added to spice up the game. They added in abandon concepts they couldn't get to work on the PS1 release, even after 2 expanded releases.

But RE2's pre-release stuff was intentionally scrapped to rebuild the game, at least for the most part.

Just now noticed Stealth Steve kek

Probably stuff that lets it work better as an action game/tps

They seem to be convinced people just want action games and that survival horror is pointless.

Not sure why, it's kinda shitty

Bikin is pretty okay.

Don;t see what the hate is for the game.
