So I bought Rome 2 a while ago and had lots of fun with it. Which one is the best?

So I bought Rome 2 a while ago and had lots of fun with it. Which one is the best?

Shogun 2

objectively M2
subjectively R1

Attila.

imo there isn't really a "best" one. i'm a longtime fan of the series, and each has their own unique shittiness with the battle simulator. empire and napoleon are fun to play around in that era, and i think shogun 2 might be the most well-rounded in terms of the balance between the overworld map and battle mode. so yeah, i guess i'd recommend shogun 2, but you should really check out total war arena if you want a totally different take on the game with a battle system that works really well

Rome 1
Try Empire or Napoleon for something different

why do you say attila? i recently started playing it and aside from horde mode it seems like a straight-up rome II reskin

>Rome 1 and Med. 2 are classics that you can always play. (there are even countless of mods, who create a even new campaign)

>Empire an Napoleon are good if you like musket combat, but battles can become pretty tedious, after you see that there's not much to "out playing or out maneuvering" your opponent

>Shogun 2 and FotS are my personal favorite, since they do everything right, but the Japanese setting can become boring quickly (at least when you're sick of Katana-everything and SHAMFUR DISPRAY)

>Rome and Attila were dogshit to release, but now they are actually fun, i like especially the Age of Charlemagne Campaign or playing as a Greek City state.

>Total War Warhammer, i'd like to buy it, but i'm not willing to pay 30 bucks for a game that isn't finished

>30 bucks for a game that isn't finished
More like $120 (probably more when all the DLC comes out).

that's what pissed me off about every TW game after Shogun 2.
They just rip out factions so they can make a quick buck of them.

Also 2-3 $/€ for the fucking gore mod

You can thank Sega for that.

i heard you can't win with small factions in these games. is that true?

Not the post you linked to, but for me it's less buggy than Rome II, a very interesting take on the era, and better factions.

Rome 2 was CA attempt to port total war to consoles right?

>that's what pissed me off about every TW game after Shogun 2
Yeah, I'd rather have complete broken and unplayable shitpiles like Rome or M2 that require massive overhaul mods on top of them to not be garbage.

>broken
>unplayable
Loving every love!

>complete broken and unplayable shitpiles like Rome or M2
????

Personal list

Attila -> Shogun II -> Warhammer -> Medieval II -> Rome II -> every other

you typed Rome II and Attila wrong

I'd like Medieval 2 better than Rome if it weren't for the pointless UI changes and weird combat bugs

>I was 8 years old when M2 came out and don't know anything about it
Sorry I forgot the average age of posters here

For me, it's Empire: Total War

M2 is not that broken.

Off the top of my head:
>pikes
>two handed weapons
>pathfinding

oh shit forgot empire

Empire is after shogun 2

Shogun 2

the greatest fast food sandwich

the only correct answer

Medieval is the best, S2, Rome, and M2 are also great. Warhammer is terrible.

if it's better than Rome 2 with Divide Et Impera mod i'll download right away.

It really depends on which era you're interested in. They all have something going for them.

guys what if

Stone age: total war
