Looking back was 2016 the most disappointing year in gaming in recent history? Were there ANY good releases this year?

Why do we keep having this thread
Dark souls 3
Is this picture photoshopped and am I retarded for asking that
Honestly dude you should just quit Sup Forums and vidya altogether even if for a few months if you think that. You're jaded and tired, rest a little and later on you'll open your mind for new games.
yeah
but is a good fucking shoop
*it's
Dishonored 2 was good.
Blood and Wine for the Witcher 3 audience
Dark Souls 3, even if it had a bunch of flaws
Dishonored 2 is the best AAA game of the past 3 years
Dark Souls 3
Dishonored 2
Hitman
Killing Floor 2
Titanfall 2
Blood and Wine
This thread happens every year
more like the best year in years, FO4 was decent, Witcher 3 was pretty good, Das3 was dark souls, also smaller games
Uncharted 4.
Every year since mid-00s has been progressively worse.
persona 5 was passable
This year is better than it's been compared to the last 2-3 years.
4u. Not everyone's a jaded, snobby cunt like 99% of Sup Forums.
DaSIII was pretty great.
its an art project, dude photographs his friends in swamps/water
I think this year was good for videogames
overwatch
I'm enjoying the hell out of the Division and you can't stop me faggot
Done
See you guys next year for those exact same 2 comments
You can like bad games all you want, that's not what the thread is about.
It's just 2016 had a lot of hyped up releases that just didn't live up to what they claimed.
>killingfloor 2
come on
It's an objectively good game. People like you are just butthurt it's not KF1.
>Witcher 3 Blood and Wine
>Monster Hunter Generations
>SMTIV: Apocalypse
>Dishonored 2 (outside of the initial PC release)
>Stardew Valley
>Dark Souls 3
>Deus Ex Mankind Divided
All good releases. Maybe not great or any classics, but all pretty good. It wasn't the best year, but it wasn't the worst by far.
Lold
Maybe you're just jaded, I had alot of fun this year.
this year just keeps on giving, Dead rising 4 is pretty good also
Alongside
Xcom2
SMT4A
Civ6
and Let it Die
Pretty great year, better than then last 3 for sure
Tricky Towers was not that bad.
youtube.com
hyper light meme
only problem it has is it's price tag, Kf1 was that "5 euro fun with pals"
Vermintide for consoles. I play it every day.
Amazing year for AA.
AAA being trash isn't exclusive to this year
Va11-Hall-A is my GOTY, also Witcher DLC was really good.
>Looking back was 2016 the most disappointing year in gaming in recent history?
For me it was the best. Found the PS4 and Gravity Rush.
But it wasn't trash
Titan fall 2
Gears of War 4
Blood and wine
Battlefield 1
Are all pretty good games
>fps
>console
w.o.w
Barely, you fucking idiot
Half the class just hack and slash and hit box are generous and huge
Stop trying to console war for one day in your life you fucking fag
>2015 : Bloodborne
>2016 : Dishonored 2
That sums up this whole generation for me right now.
Tortanic Thirst
Dishonored 2
Dark Souls 3
Blood & Wine
Deus Ex
It wasn't a bad year. Not especially great, but far from bad.
>Deus Ex
Is it like HR?
>Hitman
Hitman doesn't work though. Better looking more complex AAA games run 200fps on a machine that barely gets Hitman to 30fps on lowest settings. That game is anti-optimized.
No, but games are taking longer to develop. Hence, we get fewer games each year which means fewer good games each year.
3DS had a good year with Rhythm Heaven, SMT4A, and Pokemon SuMo
looks like the beginning of an Eric Andre episode
Yeah, but I had more fun with HR
This one's story was pretty much all over the place
>Yeah
Then it's fucking shit, why are you lying you fucking faggot?
Fallout 4 was one of the biggest disappointments in years, the fuck you talking about
and this is coming from someone who did everything in it so i could have an informed opinion about just how shit it really is
Last good game to come out was Bloodborne IMO. Everything else has been half assed and not even worth playing.
Monhun
SFV
FF15
All great games that came out this year. Last year was decent too.
2014 was the last really shitty year in my opinion.
It was an extremely bad year for a lot more reasons than one could think of to say it was good, basically.
Most of the bigger releases this year actually delivered, as opposed to the past couple of years where a lot of AAA releases were buggy disasters, clearly rushed out the door before they were ready, "meh" follow-ups to beloved franchises, or just delayed. The only two major releases this year I can think of like that were SFV and NMS.
Regardless, you're straight-up delusional if you think this year was worse than 2014.
It's an embarrassment to Dead Rising and basically a huge "fuck you" to anyone who cared about the series prior to 3.
As a canadian i am ashamed
It's a real shame that Platinum Stars blew chunks.
Doom was my GOTY and that is pretty impressive because ive been exhausted from FPS after all these years. Despite that Doom felt fresh and new.
especially since its release guaranteed Berserk would go back on hiatus because the creator has such a boner for that series
But the Berserk vidya game also came out this year.
Too bad it's a Musou.
2014
fpbp
DOOM
Shadow Warrior 2
XCOM 2
Ironically it runs 60FPS on console
I'm so happy that d44m was good.
Tittyfall 2, Battlefield 1 and Total Warham turned out to be pleasant surprises for me.
I was just thankful to see a reversal of the norm (Japan gets censored and we get uncensored).
I am seriously praying that this game is untouched by the West considering how much triggering shit is in there.
>Triggering shit
>In Berserk
You don't say?
How many years has Sup Forums been saying this in a row now?
The Beserk Vidya is also really shit and the worst Musou in a while
Crash Bandicoot announcement made this a good year.
Crash Bandicoot release will make next year the best year.
A lot of long-awaited things came out this year, and a surprising number of them were not actually terrible.
>Last Guardian
>BF1
>Doom 4 (seriously ask anybody 5 years ago if they would believe a new Doom game would win a VGA and save the franchise)
And a few absolute stinkers dropped that had also been long-awaited, like FO4, SFV and FFXV. (but in both cases, I think a lot of people were expecting these to suck and rightly so).
so it depends what you were hoping for
>Dark Souls 3
>Dishonored 2
>Hitman
>Killing Floor 2
>Titanfall 2
>Blood and Wine
>Uncharted 4
>Persona 5
>Monster Hunter Generations
>SMTIV: Apocalypse
>Deus Ex Mankind Divided
>Xcom2
>Civ6
>GoW4
>Battlefield 1
Fuuuuuckkk. Look at all of those sequels. Meanwhile we're getting reboots on TV and in theaters, sequels out the ass everywhere. Are sequels the cancer killing all of entertainment? Why does no one value originality anymore? Much of the last decade has been wasted with companies cashing in on consumers' NEED to have the familiar.
I enjoyed the new FNAF game and Dark Souls 3, and there's Wasteland 3 next year.
I hear Let it Die is good, and we got AM2R and Doom.
I had loads of fun in the beta so I think Space Hulk will be good too.
You haven't played GOTY yet senpai? C'mon, I believe in you!
Every year as far back as I can remember has had a few good games and a lot of shit I wasn't interested in. I'm baffled as to how people can act like every year is some massive disappointment when they've all been mostly the same with the odd year being a bit better or worse.
Gamers can't handle change.
>Were there ANY good releases this year?
>this year
>hah...I'm so above everyone else...these consumers...fools...heh...
It's always been like this, but you're a tard
>blood and wine
are you seriously calling an expansion pack a sequel?
>Persona 5 and SMTIV: Apocalypse
You do know Atlus makes a fuckton of other games besides persona, right? This is the first mainline game in how long? 8 years?
>Why does no one value originality anymore
They never did. How many command and conquer games were there? Medal of Honor? How many times have people remade Dracula? They even rebooted the twilight zone like 16 years ago.
Nobody ever gave two fucks about originality
I was onboard with this game until I got to the Jin Die boss. Teleporting aimbot bullshit. I beat it no problem, but I could see the design behind it, and it was no good. I fully understand it's a free to play game and they want you to spend some cash to make the deaths a little easier to deal with, but the fact they had to make a boss unfair just saps all the fun out of it.
How did I forget AM2R
GotY for me
Originality has always been in short supply in every entertainment media, except perhaps literature.
Even movies in the fucking 40's were being made based on books. So you can fuck right off with your stupidity.
...
Dark Souls 3
Dishonored 2
Shadow Tactics
Blood & Wine
Grim Dawn
>It's always been like this
Wrong, but you're probably too young to know of anything but a deluge of sequels. stephenfollows.com
>are you seriously calling an expansion pack a sequel?
You must be joking. What was it an expansion of? The Witcher 3. 3. Three. Another fucking sequel, you imbecile.
The fuck did we get last year? Generic RPGs that play themselves for casuals? 2015 was ass.
2014 was much worse.
Forgot Overwatch and XCOM 2
Persona 5 getting delayed to spring 2017 when we expected this shit in 2015 was upsetting.
2016 gave Sup Forums a new tortanic, if that counts.
>ctrl+f "furi"
Nothing? Really?
>HAH NO YOURE WRONG LOL UNDERAGED!! XDDD
except im not, but keep acting retarded bucko.
Nobody but dainty little cum guzzlers like you care about new shit, people like what they like, and theyll keep making it
TiFa 2, Let It Die, Overwatch(I guess), Dank Souls 3, and MonHun made this year worthwhile.
Trump I'd gonna clean out that swamp
Too expensive for me so I never got around to playing it
It was on sale for 15 bucks, which I found to be reasonable. I'm sure that price will return for the Christmas sale.
I am waiting for Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Mount and Blade II, and Nioh
