Is this version really better? I feel like im just losing things...

Also, Hiroyuki Ito is the best director that Squeenix has. FF 9 and 12 are the best ones in the series.

Ito directed VI too

Don't worry, the game has been rebalanced to compensate the lack of diverse options for your characters. No class will feel useless in the game.
And good opinion, user. I hope Zodiac Age sells gorillions so Square gives him some credit and consider putting him at the helm of FF XVI

I think that i'm realizing that. Right now i'm on Lhusu mines, and i remember that the Ba'Gamnan fight/escape in the original version was way more dificult.

But i wanna to ask why you think that this version is better? I've played the other one 3 times and never felt like it should be improved in any way.

I personally prefer the vanilla License Board. I hope Zodiac Age has that option, or at least allows you to change jobs (locking back all abilities from inactive jobs) so you don't have to look back and regret your decision forever.
I like the smaller changes to mechanics instead of the big features. Being able to play as the guest characters and summons, having a fast forward button, no damage limit, and so on.

So theres not much information about the remaster, right? I hope that the old LB is there too.

Isn't there a remaster coming out somewhat soon?

someday next year

Which licenses fit each party member the best?

If the KH and FFX "remasters" are any indication, it will be inferior.

aside from Tidus's face, nothing in FFX Remaster is inferior.

not the user you asked but
while the beginning of the game in vanilla 12 is a lot harder to start off with you can break the everloving fuck out of that game

reminder in vanilla 12 you can hit level cap and get endgame weapons before you even hit the sewers.

zodiac 12 is much more balanced and "fair" compared to vanilla. you can practically start off as any class and do fine through the game. plus youre forced to use all 6 party members for the most part rather than picking your 3 favorites and going at it. i personally enjoy swapping groups around to fit the situation better. plus the low/high level options for the game can be really fun

t. i replay ff12 yearly, its my favorite game of all time

My game is freezing when i open the Bestiary option... That fucking sucks. The thing that i like the most in FF 12 is that you feel that theres a world far bigger than whats happeing with your characters, and i love that the bestiary gives you more insight about the history of the world and various other things that increase youi immersion into this experience.

>reminder in vanilla 12 you can hit level cap and get endgame weapons before you even hit the sewers.
please elaborate
and no, Zodiac Spear is accessible only once you've reached Eruyt Village in the story, which is quite a long way from all the shit that takes place in Rabanastre and Nalbina

Thats great to hear. This is the first time that i play this game so i''m still discovering a lot of stuff.

Reminder that the voice work on this game is much better than the piece of shit that we got on XV

I want Batman Noctis back

Rate my party:

Vaan: Hunter
Ashe: Samurai
Penelo: White Mage
Basch: Knight
Balthier: Time Mage
Fran: Black Mage

The thing I'm excited about the most in Zodiac Age is the fact that the entire soundtrack of the game is going to be recorded again from scratch. XII's soundtrack is my absolute favorite soundtrack ever, and the fact that we are going to get a whole new rendition of it just blows my fucking soul to another dimension, really.

Why are 9 and 12 so unpopular

>Is this version really better?

Of course it is. Or are you one of the babies who think every character being able to access every skill in a RPG is somehow good gameplay design?

I don't think that theres anyone that dislikes 9.

>Why are 9 and 12 so unpopular
Bait thread aside, ff games are not unpopular.

i forgot who made videos on it, dark kefka i think, did a run where he got to level 90 off of dustia chaining and killing dive talons for burning bows

plus the slimes in zertinan caverns can drop winged helms. after you get fran you can sell 2 braided wool, 5 water stones and 2 tanned hides for a set of traveler's garb

while it isnt exactly zodiac spear endgame, you can get stuff you wouldnt normally find until way later in the game before you even see wraithwall's tomb

there's the modernfags

So Ito Directed the 3 best Final Fantasies?

This dude is a fucking saint. Had no idea about this guy.

>Penelo: White Mage
>not Black Mage
Why

I've seen this guy's channel once and thought he only made top tens, but now I see he's got some ulillillia autism, nice to know.

Well, usually i use Fran and Ashe in my party, so i think that Fran should be BM because the magics are OP. Was it that bad?

>Is this version really better?
I'd say "no" primarily because of those things you might feel you're losing.

It locks you out of the entire license board. People complain it's too samey or that everyone is the same but "having access to" and "knowing" the entire license board are entirely different for all but the very end of the game, if you grind.

The other reason I feel it is worse is because the computer AI is worse. BOTH enemies AND guest party members. Gambits on guest member are perfect to demonstrate Remember, Gambits will ALWAYS take turns based on ORDER. If the circumstances for 1 are met, it will do that Gambit over 2, 3, 4 etc. If the circumstances for 3 is met, you will NOT see 4, 5 etc. It ALWAYS takes the higher ordered Gambit. For example: Vossler

FFXII - Vossler has access to Balance (splits HP difference technick) and Telekinesis (long range melee technick)
Gambits are
1. Foe: flying targeting Ashe ⇛ Telekinesis
2. Foe: targeting Ashe ⇛ Attack
3. Foe: character status = HP Critical ⇛ Balance
4. Foe: flying ⇛ Telekinesis
5. Foe: nearest visible ⇛ Attack

IZJS - Vossler has access to Telekinesis, Souleater (sacrifice HP for more damage), Traveler (AoE based on total number of steps Vossler has taken), Wither (reduce target Str), Expose (reduce target Def)
Gambits are
1. Foe: flying targeting Ashe ⇛ Telekinesis
2. Foe: party leader's target ⇛ Attack
3. Foe: targeting self ⇛ Attack
4. Foe: targeting ally ⇛ Attack
5. Foe: nearest visible ⇛ Attack
6. Foe: Any ⇛ Attack

Do you see the difference? The main difference? In FFXII, Vossler acts as a knight, specifically to Ashe but critically to anyone. In IZJS, you'll notice he suddenly has access to many more technicks but also that his Gambits changed. His Gambits not only just suck and he just turns into a "hit what you hit" party member...all those technicks? He doesn't use 'em. Just Telekinesis and only on fliers and only when they target Ashe.

youtube.com/watch?v=vvhMpeg4UTw
youtube.com/watch?v=k5H6a9Zgoi4

Matsuno turned into mobile game director :/
You can see him at 1:54:00 in the second vidya.
1st one is the actual trailer.

Should I play the oirignal version then?

the difference in IZJS is that you can edit guest gambits and directly control them.
guests have shittier gambits in IZJS because the game wants you to edit them and use the guests better hence why the vanilla version has better gambit setups

Wait the remaster

It would be nice (and probably not terribly hard to implement), but it seems unlikely.

I don't own a ps4

Vossler in vanilla looks like he kills anything and everything that even looks at Ashe wrong. If he gets hurt too much, and Ashe isn't in danger, he just steals an enemy's HP. Only when Ashe isn't in any danger whatsoever will he start fighting other enemies in a group and he starts with the flying types since he's likely the only one in the party that can swing a sword and hit a bird with Telekinesis. But in IZJS, he just hits a bird if it's attacking Ashe. After that, he just hits what you hit, he doesn't even give a shit about Ashe. Also,
>...all those technicks? He doesn't use 'em.
Holy shit I never noticed that. Fuck, what the fuck? I guess the game assumes you're gonna switch and play as him when he's the guest? Or give him paused menu orders? That's just dumb.

You should try to get one. PS4 is quickly turning into a paradise for JRPGs. To me, he is the spiritual successor of the PS2.

FF12 and FF2 are the only game left to come out on Steam for the mainline games.
Some leaks says:
>Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Chrono Trigger could be released on Steam before the end of 2017.
Who knows?

some autists love to sperg out about the remix music
>muh midishit

They didn't need that in vanilla because the coding team actually spent time to give them decent Gambits in the first place. The fact Vossler only wants to protect Ashe is a way better guest member dynamic than the team saying "eh, here's a 4th dude, use 'im if ya want, I guess."

Too bad the story and characters are absolute garbage. And
>locking out of skills and weapons because you haven't bought it yet on the gambit.

>Too bad the story and characters are absolute garbage.
Actually, no. It isn't and the script+ cutscene for the main story blew everything .

I really think that the story of 12 is the best one in the series.

as long as they don't go in FFX's remaster direction with some of those arranges. . .
youtu.be/zNoem1VEtyc?list=PLldNgdLVBzhJWkMcKMwFFLr3wt81f_o4I

Dude, the remixed music on the remaster is shit compared to the original tracks. You just have bad taste and you're insecure to feel the need to try and shame/insult others in order to shore up your opinion.

Mobile is the future.

>that the story of 12 is the best one in the series.
It isn't. It isn't even the best Ivalice story.

It's fucking star wars. It's the exact same story as FF2 which is the worst FF.

Hell FFXII is basically FFII. Open world grind to use weapons and skills horrible characters and star wars.

What's the fucking difference though? Don't like the gambits? Change it, just because the original have better default gambits the IZJS is worse? Ignoring the fact that you can edit it like the way you want is silly.

bad default + edit possibility >>>>>>>>>> good default

>It's fucking star wars
i stopped reading here. You should start rewatching Star wars before comparing it to anything else. FF12 just took inspiration from it like most FF games and even Stars wars took inspiration from others thing like the Hidden fortress.

My problem with the job system is two fold. One, you can't swap and are stuck with the one job you choose for a character for the entire game. This kind of sucks because you have no way of knowing how the class will perform in the long term unless you do research before hand. Secondly they didn't really rebalance the weapons to compensate for this new system. The same weapons that sucked in the vanilla version still stuck in zodiac. So you still have the same handful of weapons that are just better than everything else.

I have played every single FF multiple times. And the only one that makes me truly satisfied with the story is this one.

And here we go again, another autist.

>hurr it no longer sounds like bling blong midishit so it's shit

Please sperg somewhere else.

Sorry, every game can't be about teenage angst

Then you have objectively shit taste.

youtube.com/watch?v=Xzl51pUqqac
Get some taste.

So it's star wars. Ffs they even use the opening of star wars.

>rebel princess stops the evil bad empire
>teamed up with Han balthier and girl chewy
>also Luke I mean vaan is joining up

Basch really needed to be the main character

but the PS4/PC version allows you to choose between original and remixed soundtrack

youtube.com/watch?v=SjDvosAj6ow That's the only track in new ost that manages to be better than original

>FFTA has a better story over the course of its 30+ hour long game.
>FFTA2 has a better story
>FFXII: Revenant Wings has a better story
Oh wait, you're already implying that the Ivalice series of FF titles suck ALREADY and FFXII isn't even the best of THAT group so
>FFTactics story sucks
>Vagrant Story has a shit story
>All of that is worse than the bottom half of the nearly 30 different Final Fantasy titles

"But user, I ONLY said 'FFXII isn't even the best Ivalice story' because I think it's 2nd best behind FFT!! I secretly like FFXII!"

Anyway, here's your (You) for the bad opinion.

I don't really like 9

FFT and Vagrant Story SHIT on XII when it comes to Story, gameplay mechanics and oh wait, fucking everything.

nigga are you telling me Luke fucking Skywalker is a literal nobody with no relevance to the story at all?
because Vaan is a textbook example of self-insert vessel for the player. he is nothing but a witness to all the events that unfold along the game.

I feel like 80% of people who have played XII don't know about its story and can't even explain it.

>FFXII shitposters are stretching so hard Gabranth has become Vaan's father
have memes gone too far?

it feels*

You should reconsider replaying and paying attention to everything includign the implyed thing in the dialogue itself.

>balthier's face when larsa first mentions the draklor laboratories

its the little things that make me appreciate the game

If you look hard enough, FFXIII becomes a good game.
Still not convinced? You should reconsider replaying and paying attention to everything includign the implyed thing in the dialogue itself.

>Basch really needed to be the main character
He actually WAS the main character of the game before Matsuno was forced to left company. The higher ups wanted to appeal jap teenagers who are sissy fags and can't play anything other than twink fags like Vaan. That's why they promoted Vaan to MC. And i don't make this shit up, one of the art designers said that Basch was MC in the early dev stages.

>Ignoring the fact that you can edit it like the way you want is silly.
The exact same reasonings, in opposite application, why people claim the single difference in FFXII IZJS, the license board, is superior.

To answer your question, the difference is he's a party member who's SUPPOSED to be relevant to Ashe and work for Ashe and be all about Ashe and even his fighting, which you shouldn't be able to alter, reflects that. And it reflects it WELL. The team took time and interest developing their characters and story as well as their battle mechanics. IZJS just did a rebalance and that doesn't immediately make the new balanced game "better." In fact, it's balanced worse in many cases.

It's not limited to just party members, you know. There were already DOZENS of gambits in vanilla but there are nearly HUNDREDS in IZJS...but you can only equip 10 and the differences are so minute "adding

The 5x speed alone makes it worth checking out

>Darth brother and his family he must betray and not betray
He can also take the high ground.

>Time Mage

Gross user

It's star wars. There's nothing else to explain. Also tons of macguffins.

>reacting to sounds

I heard about this when I played this game years ago, and you were supposed to use the magic silence or whatever to mask your sound. But it never worked for me. If anyone has definitive proff of that spell having an effect please show me.

FFXII is a great game with a great story. Subtlety is not your strong suit.

Vaan is 3cp0 and penelo is r2d2. Basch is Luke. Vaan just has Luke's sand dunes orphan shit.

and now Gabranth has become Basch's father instead
B R A V O
R
A
V
A

Stop with this shit.

Basch was the "main character" for all of the first week the initial idea of FFXII was brought up in the application. When nothing was started in development, when no character art was commissioned, when no story had been completed, before discussion even ENDED about what FFXII was going to be as a Final Fantasy game, Basch had stopped being the protagonist and they had already decided on Vaan being the face of the game as the audience's self-insert to the story they mildly participate in. Vaan was the very first bit of art the game ever even saw, depicted as a "healer." Ashe is the main character of this story, anyway.

Stop with the Basch stuff, it isn't true. If the game's timeline could be measured by percent, with 100% being a shipped game, Basch being the protagonist was false before the game even reached 1%.

Let's take this scene for example: youtube.com/watch?v=66_075wqJ0c

>Gabranth:
Judge Zecht!
>Reddas/Zecht:
It's been too long, Gabranth. Reach out your hand, Lady Ashe. But that which you must grasp is beyond revenge, something greater than despair. Something beyond our reach. Try as we might, Gabranth, history's chains bind us too tightly.
>Gabranth:
No, we cannot escape the past. This man is living proof! What is your past, Daughter of Dalmasca? Did you not swear revenge? Do the dead not demand it?

Gabranth isn't just talking about Ashe. He's talking about himself. Remember that Dalmasca is only the latest in a long line of kingdoms to fall to the Archadian Empire. Gabranth believes that Ashe is like him. If Gabranth had ever had the power, he would have destroyed all of Archades in retribution for Landis. Now that Ashe has the power to destroy Archades in retribution for Dalmasca, he demands she does it. It's what he would do, in her place, and indeed he still wants to see Archades die.

Ooohh a little change in relationships makes it original character do not steal.!!

Also, Gabranth isn't Archadian, he is from the Republic of Landis, the Landis who got destroyed by Archades.

It's not silence, it's Float.

>Star Wars invented empires and nukes
ayy
>it doesn't matter if Darth Vader isn't a father anymore, nothing would change in the story!
>it also doesn't matter if Ashe doesn't get captured and become a slave to some kind of Jabba
>it also doesn't matter if there is literally no Yoda
>also doesn't matter that the Occuria don't fit absolutely anywhere in Star Wars lore in comparison. inb4 Occuria aren't important!
>but it totally is Star Wars because memes tho

Basch was the main character in the trashed sequel.
>tfw he falls in love with Ashe
>she gets mad that he spends too much time in battle
>cucks him with Larsa
>Basch dies
Ugh.

LE KEK XDD

Shut the fuck up.

Wow.

>Star Wars invented empires and nukes
Are you replying to the wrong guy?

>Larsa
>hetero
your bait is too obvious, user

It is true
Here's the interview i was talking about
web.archive.org/web/20070502090537/http://www.ffring.com/articles/divers-sortie-francaise-de-Final-Fantasy-XII.html
>Pour vous donner une idée aussi de l'évolution de l'ambiance du jeu, le premier personnage que l'on avait créé et qui était à la base le héros de l'histoire c'était Bash, et finalement les héros du jeu final tel qu'on le connaît aujourd'hui qui sont Vaan et Penelo, ils ont été en dernier et on les a rajouté à la fin...

Translation
>To give you an idea as well of the evolution of the atmosphere of the game, the first character that had been created and who was at the base the hero of the story was Bash, and finally the heroes of the final game As we know today who are Vaan and Penelo, they were last and were added at the end ...

Lol.
gamespot.com/articles/the-canceled-final-fantasy-xii-sequel-narrative-an/1100-6431040/

Concept art and story.

>suddenly includes empire strikes back and return of the Jedi.

Too western to be a final fantasy games. They need to keep it bordeline. Square enix was too harsh with that studio.

>last battle is on the death star

the job system removes the homogenization between the characters, but its also pretty restrictive and if you wanted to be efficient, the best roles for each character are completely against type, like balthier as white mage and basch as black mage, the only one who makes sense really is fran as red mage. I guess I hold the unpopular opinion of disliking the job system because its restrictive which is completely unusual for FF games to have a system that permanently locks you into a job, pretty much only FF1 had this, and most people in this thread never played that, kek.

That aside, its better in pretty much every other way though, giving you more control over guest members who can also level up now, also general rebalancing to the game that improved lots of weapons, and different ways to get the zodiac spear so you don't have to worry about the whole "lol I broke the wrong jar" shit.

On the flip side, this makes job choices further gimmicky based on certain late game weapons, like actually taking someone as hunter just so they can use the dagger that has the instant death effect to grind easier, when the class in general sucks shit and you will never use that character for anything besides cannon fodder, still though, I think the game is an improvement over the original just for all the other changes it brings.

>suddenly omits the points he can't argue back
>these star wars films don't count when talking about star wars

Main character was Balthier.

>Star Wars invented large battleships
Yeah, I remember when Emperor Palpatine fused with the Death Star and became a huge metallic winged monstrosity, it was such a climactic battle.

>Fortress
Grin was a mistake
