My negro

Are the silent hill games easy to get?

yeah, used copies tend to float everywhere still. They are slowly becoming less common though.

If you just want to play them, you can download the original games, 1-4, for PC. Original needs to be emulated, as it's a PS1 exclusive; it's also available on PSN Store.
2-4 had legit PC ports already back in the days, which only require applying one or two simple fan-fixes to get 'em working and looking great on modern machines. Here is the latest SH PC Guide for that + the DL links:

SH1 NTSC DDL:

SH4 DDL:

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.
You can now see some decent emulator settings for SH1 as well in the guide. If the image of the game does NOT fill your entire screen in fullscreen mode, check your plugin AND GPU control panel's image scaling settings!
Also give the new PGXP emulator a shot for a lot less wobbly PS1 graphics.

aw man if you've not played silent hill 2/3 ever you're in for a fucking treat. The best horror of themed games of all time in my opinion.

Extermination probably...
It's a fairly unknown game, and a lot of people who do know about it seem to either hate it or love it. It's also a pretty fun game for speedrunning.

Aside from that you have all your typical shit. Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc. I also really enjoyed Primal. It has a lot of nostalgia associated with it for me, and its own charm.

Considering you put Cold Fear on your list you might actually enjoy Extermination.

PS2 was a meme console. That entire generation was a fucking meme.

Kill yourself.

MAI NIGGA

that's a shitload of "favorite PS2 games".

this! the wrong kid died bros. gaming would have been infinitely better if sega and nintendo won

Not going to write a fuck huge list like Timesplitters: Future Perfect is still my favorite shooter of all time.

sequel when T_T

TS2 was awesome

Blood Will Tell
Bujingai
Gungrave
Gungrave: Overdose

Basically, any action title from RED on the PS2.

Star ocean 3.

Evil Dead: Regeneration is WAY better than Fistful of Boomstick.

god hand and yakuza 1-2

It's a big library.

>goes to Sup Forums once

...

...

This thread is pretty much over, but I'll offer some that haven't been mentioned

Sky Odyssey is a dope-ass arcade flying game and the soundtrack is done by Kow Otani of Shadow of the Colossus fame

Ape Escape 3 is worth a playthrough

Katamari Damacy and its sequel, We

Def Jam FFNY

Fuck how could I forget about Maximo. God Capcom is such shit now.

This and Army of Zin are both top-tier controller-throwing madness

my neighbor was the first person I knew to get a PS2 and Sky Odyssey was an early game he had and it was so good
that bit where you fly through the cave as it crumbling down was fucking intense
so good

Good luck, user.

god I fucking love the PS2
I want to install an onahole into the HDD bay and show it the love I can't accurately express in words

i hate this picture.
"noteworthy PS2 games" doesn't actually mean good games.
i mean come on is has the fucking bouncer on it and that game is so fucking terrible, while Death By Degrees and Final Fight Streetwise are both better and nowhere to be found on the pic.
also it needs to have Spy Fiction under stealth games
it's just a heavily flawed list if bouncer somehow made it...

Timesplitters OP

related question, is shinobido woth 20 € if i enjoyed tenchu WoH/Fatal Shadows a lot?
or are the tenchu games already the superior ninja stealth games?
Timesplitters 2 OP*

play shinobi first
its more of a DMC-lite kind of series, nothing to do with tenchu

Timesplitters: Future Perfect OP*

The absolute best games are available on the PS3. As someone that bought most of those games on day one, I can tell you for a fact that getting into physical collecting, this late, is an absolute waste of money.

every PS2 game worth a damn is already infinitely better on Xbox

SH2 PC is a worse version than the PS2 original.

The best SH2 version on PC is emulated through PCSX2. Don't know about other games.

Is the Time Crisis series good on PS2?

>timesplitters trilogy isn't on PS3
>Ape Escape 3 isn't on PS3
>steambot chronicles isn't on PS3
>Haunting ground isn't on PS3
>onimusha isn't on PSN
>Yakuza 1 and 2 aren't on PSN
>best games are available on PS3
>im-fucking-plying

BURNOUT 3

...

This guy is partially right. Not all best PS2 games are on PS3 (and if they are, sometimes the ports are completely fucked up like Silent Hill 2 & 3), but he's right about buying physical games

They're expensive
They're all used, so quality varies
Almost none of the worthwhile games have any online parts, so you might as well pirate it
Playing original games wears out the discs and the console's laser

Get Free McBoot and play """backups"""

how about recommending only games that don't go sub-20fps and are actually fucking playable in year 2016

I don't know I was too busy playing on PC and GC and I hate jrpgs. SOTC is a fine climbing simulator I guess...

Rayman games
FF games
Mark of Kri
Shadow of the Colossus
Rygar the Legendary Warrior
Castlevania Curse of Darkness

I'm building a ps2 collection too, what are the priciest, but also must have games that I should buy before they get harder to acquire?

Why is that? I only played the PC version, I'm curious in what way is the ps2 version superior?

i don't understand your response.
why would i play shinobi first?
i was askins about shinobido and not shinobi.
shinobido has nothing to do with shinobi
shinobi is gotta go fast hack and slash.
shinobido is a stealth game.
i have already played shinobi and was wondering about shinobido
>castlevania CD
hehe i have this game too and it seems pretty alright.
have you ever played the other PS2 castlevania game?
i was wondering if it was as good.

my bad, I mistook shinobido for nightshade

>Yakuza 2 is rediculous over there 100$+

>Japan get Yakuza 1 and 2 HD for PS3
>"No, you can't have it"

Shinobido's a really fun game. Very underrated too imo, not many people know about it. My younger cousin bought it for me on release since she knows I love ninja stuff. I played it for a bit and fucking fell in love. Basically, you have about 6-10 fairly large maps where you can do all sorts of missions. It's procedurally generated missions (such as carry this thing from here to here, kill everyone, escort this person, destroy a wagon, collect these items etc) but it has so many systems underneath that it really adds a whole lot of complexity to the game.

Basically, you have to choose to side with one of the three feudal lords in the game to advance the story, and depending on your action, one army will get stronger and gets new weapons and techniques while the other one gets weaker. You actually have to deal with the strengthened units in a fight if you are to ever meet them on the battlefield. And halfway through the game, you get access to this pretty intricate and clever alchemy system to craft your own weapons, ranging from strength or speed potions to explosives and traps and permanent buff items.

Definitely a really really good game if you're into stealthy games and ninjas.

The game does have some flaws, such as having to deal with a constant stream of barbarians attacking your hideout to steal your items and money (happens about once every 4-5 missions, more or less often depending on whether you piss the barbarians off or not). With certain garden layouts, it becomes more of a chore of having to sit down and watch them all die than the difficult task of having to fight them all yourself. It's not a complete deal breaker, but it gets annoying after a while.

Captcha : choose all images that have sushi in them

KH Re:CoM (awesome combat)
Gradius 5
Sega Ages (Treasure Box, Fantasy Zone, Panzer Dragoon Saga)
Outrun 2006
Crash Nitro Kart

Sly 2 was probably my favorite.

Thanks for the link, it was an interesting watch.

To be fair, I do believe the majority of the issues are really nitpicky, and you wouldn't find these issues unless you played the game on both platforms, and are a really hardcore fan.
I personally wouldn't warrant dealing with pcsx2 for this, because I'm pretty sure pcsx2 would just introduce a fair share of different issues you woudln't expect.

The HD collection is an abomination though, no argument there.

>Crash Nitro Kart
It's shit compared to ps1 game

PCSX2 configuration can be annoying, so you have a point, but small downgrades like those shown in the video trigger me

>SH2 PC is a worse version than the PS2 original.
Arguable. It has better lighting (per-pixel instead of per-vertex), higher resolutions, and can be ran on a literal toaster even at HD quality. With the new Fog Fix + the HQ widescreen FMVs, it's even closer to PS2 port. You also got the benefit of SweetFX and such enhancements.

As long as you steer away from "HD""Collection", you'll be fine.

trust me, I've owned the PS2 original since 2001, and played it numerous times. Later got PC port, played it a lot in recent years, and I barely could tell a difference for most part.

PC version's light for comparison.

> crying about the prices ps2 games are sold at ebay
>not installing fmcb and going for the piratebay discount

The PC port of SH2 has terrible sound effects that sound like they were recorded with a walkie talkie when compared to PS2 version. Can't be arsed to link, check that shit out on youtube.
