...

hopefully not
3 raped franchise so hard it's impossible to see the series returning to former glory

3 was probably one of the saddest things ever for me. This was my favorite game series. I still play 2 every now and then.

>please call engi

Nah. EA will be Star Wars Inc. for at least the next decade.

Have it actually go to a planet. Not saying make it open world, just saying stop with the ship setting. It's getting old

This desu, no sales no sequels

Will EA ever just go away?

What is the context of this pic

I like to imagine that their inevitable doom is coming at some point because a lot of this screams of the video game crash of the 80s but honestly the longer this has drawn on the more I think that hope was based on some incorrect sense of justice in the world and EA may very well be too big to fail.

I'd want some impressive body severing tech, like the next evolution Metal Gear Rising. And that includes human enemies, tactical limb cutting to disarm a guy without killing him etc.

It's a NASA experiment when cosmonauts actually go to Mars in 2018. It's happening

Was there ever a good Dead Space game?

xD

I wasn't memeing, the series is shite.

>First game is on a ship
>Second game is on a station with 1-2 chapters dedicated to roaming around part of a ship as a shoe-horned excuse to squeeze the Ishimura into the game DESPITE alternative media suggesting a planet explosion of that magnitude would have inevitably destroyed the Ishimura
>3 is basically a split between a space colony and a planet
Part of why 3 failed is the setting they chose. On a planet, you're not restricted by the area you can traverse and not in any real danger aside the geography and multitude of space zombies roaming around. You don't feel any real tension since a nuke could resolve a majority of the issues you'll be having anyways.

A ship/colony/station isn't so forgiving.

>On a planet, you're not restricted by the area you can traverse
See, they fucked this up.

When you first crash on the planet, your suit is wrecked and there's the heat survival mechanic.

When you get a new suit, that all goes out the window. That was a mistake. The Arctic Survival Suit should have been like the Dark Suit from Metroid Prime 2, only reducing the amount of heat lost instead of completely keeping you safe.

I stopped at 2 and never felt better. That conclusion was enough for me

Pretty sure the devs mercy killed the series with the DS3 dlc

>implying 2 wasn't garbage

First game had atmosphere but shit itself around chapter 5 with the ubermorph and dropped the ball after chapter 10 where all the tension was lost because it was a simple matter of going to the bridge, tethering Kendra's ship into the planet, and driving the Ishimura back to Tidemann station.

Second game really fucked itself with the insta-necro'ing in the first five minutes instead of making it seem like a gradual process and retconning the bullshit of Downfall. You also have villains whose motivations become patently shit when it's made clear by their own admission that 1) they knew the inevitable outcome of a marker would be corpses making corpses and 2) making a marker=shit getting fucked up and no alternative energy source.

Three was EA trying to too hard to make a CoD clone except skipping the part where you had a fun and interesting single-player campaign and going straight to the shoe-horned zombies mode.

Since 2 already started shitting on the story I guess no.

4 will be just a reboot generic action game since that what players want.

I hope so. They left a big cliff hanger at the end of 3. Though I liked Isaac better when he shut the fuck up .

...

Even with an arctic survival suit not really saving your ass, it fails so utterly when Isaac can't simply find a broken ship and fix it up to a semi-functional state to make the search for Ellie that much easier. Hell, having the transformations a slow, drawn-out process to begin with and adding time to that due to weather conditions while TRULY cutting you off from the rest of the group for the majority of the game and having you following their entire journey would have made for a much more interesting game atmosphere-wise.

You could even have it where weather conditions stopped you from progressing (storms with winds and snowfall that fucked up your maneuverability), environmental hazards, and necro's that, instead of surfacing like autistic children actually used the deeper snow to "shark attack" Isaac would have added a factor of tension to the game.

Adding a really generic character just for the sake of co-op wasnt that special either. When I heard co-op was going to be in 3 I instantly thought that it was going to be Ellie.

>implying its not top 10 material

i prefer the first game, like how you upgrade your suit and don't choose from a bunch at the beginning. it was nice and simple, didn't try to be something it wasn't and didn't try to be edgy (like having necromorph kids).

This is true. DS2 is one of my favorite games.

This guy did some pretty great videos on the Dead Space games;

It's a pity he stopped making videos after the one on Dead Space 2, though I guess Dead Space 3 isn't nearly as interesting.

>Play as Ellie
>Have to hear nihilism every 3 seconds because she can't into engineering
Having her in my ear during the second half of the second game was one of the worst parts of the game. Every two minutes was some asinine whine about how fucked in the head Stross was. Well, no shit! He's only an escaped mental ward patient, you dumb cunt. Of course every sentence of his is going to be some mental bullshit. Did you not spend the better part of your day watching shit go to Hell?

First game had Necromorph infants who in addition were just and organ banks, thats like double edgy.

About to play the first two games. Any tips?

Level up plasma cutter.

in the second game, use the mine gun. It's an underrated weapon.
