That game you spend more time reading about than actually playing it

>that game you spend more time reading about than actually playing it

But that goes for all my games

Practically every new game released these days.

Everything Warhammer 40K

Was dark souls for me for a while, after my first playthrough.
Then I actually tried out several builds.

you mean like every kid that has ever heard the word "FNAF" uttered ever

seriously

any kid that says "I liek FNAF"

ask them their favorite animatronic

they know not just the name

like the animatronics birthday, middle name, ethnicity, and what their great great grandfather had to eat for dinner 14 years before they died

ask them what night they're on

they don't own the game
they never owned the game
they will never own the game

DOTA. I haven't played since Earth Spirit was released because I hate the person I become when I play it. That said, I follow the pro scene and have been to a TI since I stopped playing it.

>spend more time in excel than actually playing

This fucker here

...

Kek, this is true.

We can thank the never-ending YouTube cancer.

The original Dead Space wiki was full of good shit. I easily spent hours reading up on it.

This is my life. I spend way more time on Sup Forums, gaming news sites, neogaf, listening to gaming podcasts, and reading magazines than I do actually playing vidya.
Been getting a lot of use out of my 3DS lately though, so at least I'm getting some gaming time in.

H i v e m i n d

Starcraft and Warhammer. I bought the former but never went past reading the Core manual, and I haven't touched anything remotely related to the latter. However, I know the entire lore of both of them.

same

>frogposting

You grew up and realised that you have better things to do than play video games

Fucking this, but replace "playing" with "painting troops for".

>spend days modding the game
>don't play it

Metroid Prime. It's fun, but it doesn't compare to jacking off over water droplets and tubes with Sup Forums

>that game you spent more time using macros to swap items and make a profit than playing the demon killing mini game

oops almost forgot to mention

90% of games that Penny Arcade talk about

pick one

odds are I haven't played it

>go back and read old Penny Arcade comics
>half the games they play are offbeat weeaboo shit or arena shooters
>nowadays
>mobileshit and F2P crap

time has not been kind to them

i read up on the game and watched the youtube videos because the story is interesting.

having a favorite animatronic sounds autistic as hell

You mean every game I've ever heard of but not played?

Most of the SMT series, really

>that game you spend more time fapping to then actually playing
Haven't played Overwatch. Haven't even bought it. Fap to a character from it almost daily.

They've got wives, kids, and are legitimate businessmen now. It's only natural they've moved towards less time-intensive games.

I don't recall seeing them talk much about mobile stuff. They were just talking about Final Fantasy.

The real problems are that half the time they don't talk about video games at all anymore, and that their comics are unfunny and hideous.

I was kinda off and on reading them for the last 2 years, and it seemed like every comic that wasn't "lol married with kids amirite?" was "wow I spent a whole bunch of money on this stupid P2W game."

Yeah, I'm still reading tutorials, for some reason I don't want to actually start it

>reading about WH40K
>watching videos about WH40K
>never played a single WH game
>never owned a WH figure

Dwarf Fortress

...

I do that for games with interesting plot but uninteresting gameplay, like there's no reason to play it if you can read the shit

What is dorfy from? I just know it from ss13.

>Know almost everything there is to know about Twisted Metal's lore/story.
>have never personally owned a Twisted Metal game

why

warhammer is basically made for secondaries at this point, the only people who can actually be bothered to paint entire armies of miniatures before playing the game are all over 50

Blast Corps

Neptune games

Visual novels are one of the best genres of gaming.
Prove me wrong.

Because you know you will never have a game as fun as the ones you've read about.

Dragon's Dogma. I got it during the last steam sale, downloaded and everything but I just haven't bothered with it yet.

I hate that game. I'm generally curious though as to why you read up so much about it?

WoW when I still lived with my parents.
Couldn't play anything while dad was at home so I spent that time researching what I'd do when he was away.

Elder Scrolls

It's got interesting lore, but the games are terrible.
I read the threads and the lore, it makes me want to play. But the games suck so much, I need mods. So I spend hours researching, installing, and troubleshooting mods before realizing the games are beyond redemption. So, I go back to the threads, and reading the lore...

Elder Scrolls lore is some of the most fantastic, crazy, mind boggling stuff I've ever seen come out of a video game series. It's beautiful because it makes TES more than just a medieval fantasy world. There is much more going on than just that. A lot more.

Especially when you get into the really weird, obscure lore by guys like Michael Kirkbride.

And then you realize its actually a scifi series, and the world is post-apocalyptic. Several times over.

that's just morrowind

??
Explain yourself, young man.

Where do i start with Warhammer lore, seems interesting and fresh

Touhou for me. Even when I was dedicated enough to 1CC Windows games up to Ten Desires on Normal, most of my time was probably spent reading up lore or fan stuff. Nowadays I've lost interest, yet still find myself often searching things under Touhou tag.

>hating Blast Corps

Let me guess, Backlash

>Know the ins and outs of Nethack
>Know the details of every monster, item, quest, strategy and bug
>never played the game.

You might want t check out Halo's lore, it's similarly actually got a lot of interesting stuff the games don't touch on and while most of the novels are obviously not near something like Dune or Ringworld in quality, a few do get close and on average they are still a hell of a lot better then you'd expect vidya novels to be.

Elder Scrolls and Halo are pretty much the only vydia franchises that come close to each other in terms of lore quantity and quality,

Marathon

whatttttttttttttt? Fuck you I'll have the music in my head for a week now.

see
even more then them since Halo is essentially marathon's spirtual successor and it's lore shares a lot of the same themes and concepts, since Bungie made both

bloodborne

Kek

I've been Unironically playing a lot of 3ds too. Surprisingly some good games on there.

visual novels are not games
