DS4 on PC

Does anyone have a simple way to get this thing to work on PC? I can never get Windows or anything to recognize it.

Just buy a 360 or Bone controller.

seems to work for me by just plugging in with the USB cable.
some games work out of the box, others that don't i just use DS4Windows for

That's the thing, it doesn't show up in it, or in windows. Everything I read says it should but yet doesn't for me. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem as well.

what is ur problem? Just hold share and press the PS button.

Use ScpServer

No problem for me, i just plug it into usb and let steam emulate xbawks controller for me.

Literal chink adware but itwerks

Fuck ds4windows.

Use scp or nefarious fork preferably.

It works. Is lightweight and is open source.

Since fucking ds3tool I don't trust any closed source drivers - that shit was basically Chinese backdoor to your pc.

install windows10

Steam has built in support dummy

I had similar problems when connecting my DS4 to my PC.

It wouldn't recognise it initially, or I could navigate Steam Big Picture mode with it, but then when launching the game it wouldn't work.

Eventually there was some Steam update, no idea if this is what fixed it, but it started working fine after it.

For non Steam games, DS4Windows is needed.

It does work perfectly now, and maybe I'm just an autismo, but I didn't like how all button prompts in games were for the Xbox controller, so I ended up just getting an Xbox One wired controller.

ds4windows.

some games will require you tick the "hide DS4" option in ds4windows.

that's about it. have fun.

Dumbass, there is no evidence of that for ds4

Windows 10 recognizes it automatically.
Steam has some drivers too.
SCP is the best in my honest opinion, familia.

Sony sells an adapter for it

Kekkles at the PC cucks desperately wanting to use our hardware, despite the fact they have a much wider choice available to them, and they can't get it to work on their "completely customisable gaming rig".

controller =/= hardware

>our hardware

kek

does SCP allow you to hide your DS4 from windows, so that windows doesn't interpret your DS4 and the 360 layer at the same time?

if not, people should stop recommending it because OP will run into issues with some games like dark souls.

Sorry OP, worked perfectly first time I got it like a week after launch.

Frankly it sounds like you might have some sort of install issue or hardware issue. Do you have any other controllers to try? Any alternate cheap bluetooth dongles or something? Or some other PC you can try connecting it too? Before spending a ton of time on it first troubleshooting step would be just to try to see if you got some hardware lemon, it does happen.

controller == hardware

a controller is a peripheral device, not hardware

r u gay

DS4WINDOWS.

Easy.

no, but you are a fool, for I have bested you in this discussion

I had mine working for a short while, but now pressing the PS button makes the lightbar flash and after a moment, turns off, like it wont stay on, USB cable or no.

When it DOES connect, it disconnects randomly, or when I move the controller too much (wired) as though the wire or the connection was shoddy, but replacing the wire does nothing, it still disconnects when moved too much or just when it feels like.

Behaves the same way with DS4Windows or just with Steam (which sometimes recognises it as a PS4 controller but displays Xbox prompts)

I'm the hardware commenter, I'm not him.

A controller is hardware.

install the chinaware

I've been messing around with DS4Windows as some of you have recommended but I still encounter it not being found.

I was just scrolling by but you sir are a despicable retard.

Anyone else having trouble with their controller just randomly disconnecting and reconnecting?

...

This made me belly chuckle

You need a good cable. They are picky

I'm guessing the one that came with the controller is shit then.

It's literally plug and play. I don't understand how you can have a problem.

>ds4windows not open source
github.com/Jays2Kings/DS4Windows
probably just a dream or something.

> I can never get Windows or anything to recognize it.
it's natively compatible with windows, are you stupid or something?

Firstly, a controller is not hardware.
Secondly, it's not less than likely that you two are the same poster, due to the amount of replies to the amount of posters in the thread, so please cease your posting.

>a controller is not hardware.

What did you buy? I bought a pc kit and it came with a blue tooth dongle

Steam now has native support. For anything else use DS4windows. Make sure to tick the hide controller option in the settings.

>He doesn't know what hardware means
Sure its not a computer but it IS hardware.

When playstation VR launched it was a hardware launch.

If it doesn't work by just plugging it in and it does not work on a different machine then turn that shit in, it's a defective product.

Please go to the Wikipedia article for 'Game Controller' and count the number of times the word 'Hardware' appears.

I'm not the same person as the despicable retard commenter, nor the u r gay commenter, assuming they're not the same.

I'm the initial hardware commenter and the belly chuckle commenter.

A controller is hardware, however more relevantly, semantics aside, my point still remains. The so-called master race has a huge amount of controllers available to them and they're desperately trying to use ours and failing. It made me smile.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_hardware#Input
>Input devices allow the user to enter information into the system, or control its operation. Most personal computers have a mouse and keyboard, but laptop systems typically use a touchpad instead of a mouse. Other input devices include webcams, microphones, joysticks, and image scanners.
>joysticks
you are objectively wrong.

Technically it's a peripheral

Press this and try again OP. For some reason the settings get corrupted occasionally and it will act odd.

Thissssss.

That is the article for 'Computer Hardware', not 'Game Controller', you moron.

Ah shit this has really given me the giggles. Good work user, much appreciated

which makes it much more relevant you fucking idiot.

Steam has a profile for desktop things. I don't see reason to use ds4windows nowadays since every program has at least xinput support and when not then I can emulate key presses with steam. The only valid reason is if you don't want steam spying on you.

Use InputMapper, it gave me the least amount of trouble to connect DS4 and works with bluetooth as well.

You've gotta be kidding surely? A controller is absolutely 100% hardware. That's indisputable.

It's still wrong, because a Game Controller is a peripheral that is used as an input FOR hardware, not as a piece of computer hardware.

Hardware is what you put inside your PC, software is what runs inside the hardware.

PERIPHERAL is the external "hardware".
So both are right, but you don't call a controller hardware anyway, it, just like a mouse or keyboard are peripherals.

It's still hardware.

Are you retarded? The OP can't even connect his gamepad to windows, how the hell does chinese ransomware help?

The steam support for ds4 is half baked. Can't even turn off the controller

You have to be trolling at this point.

It would be like refering to a movie as a file in a movie review.
It doesn't mean it isn't a datafile in some capacity, but its not really relevant.

Awoo~

Solved with time I hope. I don't trust the battery of these things to use them with bluetooth so such things don't affect me.

r u fuckin gay

DS4 has been implemented by Steam. Use that. It is really good.

I would reset it with that button as one user suggested and then charge it and try again

I originally said hardware, I am right. He is wrong for calling me out on it.

I have finally got it working. Thank you for all the help guys, you rock.

under the computer hardware article on wikipedia an input device is listed under the definition of what computer hardware is.
fuck off retard.

What was the fix?

Well, we don't even know if OP knows he have to use the microUSB cable to connect it.

If he can't connect it with cable and still try to connect it with a bluetooth device that might not even work with the controller, you know he's a retard. OP that is.
Awoo poster is right.

>desperately trying to make it work
It's seriously fucking easy to make it work. If you read the thread, the OP's the only one having problems with it, actually. Please lrn2read

Is everyone here still retarded and thinks Windows 10 is awful? Been away a few weeks.

I'm on Windows 10, I just plug it in and it works natively, no need to install malware like DS4windows.
Inb4 Windows 10 is even bigger malware, get fucked nerds, you will upgrade sooner or later anyway.

yeah they fell for the meme hard

Resetting my computer

No, straight, had sex with real life female girls

Sent you a PM with the fix :^)

Yeah, sounds exactly like the problem I'm having. What a giant pain in the ass. Are you using Windows 10?

Already above 99.9% of the people here then.

Thanks, I got a notification of it on my phone.

It's wrong then, I'll edit the page later.

SCPServer.

Everyone who recommended anything else. Kys.

>Kys
hello, reddit

Maybe you should take your own advice.
