Why does this game have no real alternate palettes or costumes for the pokemon? Smash was allowed to have them.

TPC is full of turbojews who want people to only ever see Pokemon as their default color ever. They like to pretend shiny Pokemon don't exist most of the time, even.

TPCi is really strict on the designs of their "iconic" characters. That's why even their Smash skins are rather lazy. "Pikachu shouldn't be blue/purple/pink" etc.

Even Pokken has to specify that its P2 alternates are just "the camera editing them for the sake of distinction" and that really the Pokemon don't actually look differently.

It's more like Shiny Pokemon are seen as their own separate marketable identities. They don't want shinies to be alternate skins because then people would say you could play as the shiny, and thus devaluing the design or something?

They'll probably come on the Switch version, be DLC for Wii U, and have crossplay.

A Switch version hasn't been rumored by any of the credible insiders, at least not for year one. By the time a Switch port does come no one will give a shit.
