Why do people who play vidya as a primary hobby end up so socially inept?

Why do people who play vidya as a primary hobby end up so socially inept?

Other way around.

They never learn to socialize because they spend their lives playing video games alone

Thankfully i did learn to socialize and came back to video games as an adult.

im sure if you played multiplayer with the mic on everyday you would be fine if not better than average

They neglect socialization skills among other thing. I had this problem too but I read articles and book excerpts and practiced by skills and now I'm like at 8/10 on charisma/social skills

You ever noticed how many threads are made about being nervous to go on mic?

People who are socially inept find video games welcoming. Video games are fair unlike social interaction.

If they're afraid to speak to people over a mic there is no hope for them.

I shiggy diggy, famdongus.

this is correct

I was socially retarded before getting into vidya. I don't blame vidya. I just play too much inside because I don't want to go outside and get anxious.

Bullshit, I run an student organisation for CS and ICT students in Uni. , and the "gamer culture"-types (who all yell at a mic when gaming) are way more retarded and neckbeardy at parties than the people who have other hobbies and interests on top of vidya.

Keep in mind that almost everybody in CS/ICT is more or less of an nerd here, still the "gamers" shine out as the least socially capable.

And this happens in LAN-parties, pub-races, and also in general student parties at nightclubs - the environment does not matter.

The shit I have seen these autists do.

I know plenty of people who play videogames regularly and are socially succesful, myself included

Videogames attract autists, they don't turn you into one

vidya is not a hobby
vidya is an anti-depressant with the side-effect of more depression

Just try to have ONE(1) other hobby aside from vidya and you're fine.

I play vidya 7-8 hours a day but I balance it out with lifting weights, playing guitar, and keeping myself and the house clean & tidy.

I also enjoy reading manga in the morning while cooking breakfast.

well this was a quick thread

fpbp as always
