Star Wars videogames revolving around Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the first part of a new trilogy and hyped to hell and back: >Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
The industry. Movie games in general are a thing of the past and Star Wars is no exception, not to mention EA have the contract for SW vidya and they're too focused on EAfront to give a shit.
Thomas Price
Man, nostalgia, I played the shit out of the Episode I game on PS1
Henry Russell
It's a shit movie that was forgotten pretty quickly, that's all there is to it.
Alexander Thomas
>forgotten
It was pretty damn bad but it's certainly not forgotten. Hell Disney are avoiding the prequels completely simply because EP1 exists.
James Morales
>Padme has died >Anakin has died
Escort missions were a nightmare, but blowing shit up and massacring everyone with those bombs was fun as hell.
Brayden Torres
Games were cheaper to produce, and most of those were bad, and lucas art was owned by lucas, so they had a personal stake around releasing new games.
The two triple A games that were released around TFA were probably atleast thrice as expensive as the cost of all the games released for episode 1
Whats your point again?
Dominic Allen
I wasn't talking about Episode I kiddo.
Bentley Sanders
It speaks to my character that I murdered every last man woman and child in Mos Espa
John Robinson
I want a pod racer game on 8th gen consoles or modern day PC. I forgot how fucking fast you got in that game and today's graphics would be amazing for it
Charles Reed
STOP POOSHING ME
Austin White
They made that VR X-Wing game, VR Pod Racing would be pretty cool.
Brody Kelly
Well in a thread with EP1 as the OP you've got to be clear on what film you're talking about.
Jose Walker
Disney suspended all game development.
David Bennett
I don't need to, because EP1 was an objectively good movie while VII was forgettable and utter shit.
Anthony Wilson
I wouldn't worry. There's money to be made, so the games will come.
Levi Gomez
>I dont read the posts
ok
Carson Long
>Star Wars videogames revolving around Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the first part of a new trilogy and hyped to hell and back: >>Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens You forgot BattlEAfront and the literal gorillion mobage games.
(((Didney))) jew isn't interested in making good games, only cheap effort cashcows which why all of their new SW games are mobage extortion cancer.
Samuel Morgan
(you)
90% of the OP is EP1.
Joseph Lee
>The two triple A games >two BattlEAfront and? Cause the LEGO games are done on very small budget and TT themselves confirmed as much.
Jose Butler
And your point is? If you remove lego game from the equation, the price of battlefront alone is at the very least 2 times as expensive than the others, probably more.
Juan Roberts
>BattlEAfront >Expensive Yeah, those recycled BF4 environment assets for maps, 4 maps in total not counting DLC, fuck all game modes, fuck all variety in player models (only heads are different and there's only like 10 different ones), only two vehicles and literally the least content of any DICE game ever made, all this half assed shit sure was expensive uh uh yeah totally.
Eat a bag of dicks you literal fucking shill, get cancer and die.
Grayson Brooks
One quadruple A title and one singular A title != Two triple A titles
Leo King
That's still a non issue, especially since you are arguing semantics
>shill
I didn't even say the game was good, I just said it was expensive, wew lad
Jackson Long
return to reddit kid
Chase Nguyen
And I said it definitely wasn't expensive considering how little fucking content and effort it has put into it and how the environments are literally just recycled Battlefield 4 assets.
Blake Flores
EAfront had almost no connection to ep VII outside of a single map pack
that would be like saying galactic battlegrounds is an ep I game
Luis Myers
It's because vidya is more expensive as other anons have already said.
But it's also because ep7 is simply uninteresting and offers nothing new to the universe of Star Wars, ep7 is literally just a re-tooled ep4.
Nathan Hall
The prequels are patrician movies
Force awakens is for redditor trash
Anthony Kelly
>that would be like saying galactic battlegrounds is an ep I game
It LITERALLY has 3 campaigns dedicated solely to Episode 1.
Meanwhile the other 3 campaigns are set at various points between Ep4/5 and 5/6.
So yes, SWGB IS primarily an Ep1 game. And then there's also the 2 campaigns from the expansion set between Ep2 and Ep3.
Ergo you're a faggot cause there's more Prequel campaigns in the game than there's OT.
Logan Howard
Galactic Battlegrounds did have the Trade federation, gungans, and alot of Episode one missions and content though as a baseline part of it.
Xavier Wilson
I'm 100% sure it was expensive, it was the main game they were developing after BF4 was released (which was some years ago already) and dice is one of the biggest studios and most high profile below EA, the biggest publisher in the world. The price of a game isn't about how much content was added, they don't fucking time sheet a texture, or dock payment each time a modeler makes a gun
They pay the developers hours worked, and if they had a big team (like they certainly had, because no other game is in development at dice), working for over 2 years (which they did), that shit cost dozens of millions, ESPECIALLY considering the massive marketing campaign they did for the game.
You are a manchild who has no idea how jobs even work in real life
Kevin Jones
As someone already mentioned we don't get any star wars games period until EA loses their contract grip.
Lucas Bell
>that one cheat that gave you a blaster that fired rapid-fire rockets
Luke Stewart
Literally the only element of truth in your post is that the MARKETING was expensive, not the game itself.
>2 years More like 1 and a half, TOPS. With a smaller half assed team because the main team was working on BF1 and that's a literal fucking fact confirmed by DICE themselves.
All their effort went into BF1 while BattlEAfront was just a cheap cash in they made on the side.
All the budget went into the fucking marketing campaign. And knowing this industry, the marketing was probably 90% of the game's budget. Even Witcher 3, a game made with potatoes, was confirmed to have only cost 10 million while the other 50 went straight into marketing.
Marketing nowadays is where the bloated game costs come from because shill corporate cumguzzlers like you don't understand that people prefer good games with timid marketing over shit games with OVERBLOWN MARKETING.
I hope and every single shitslurping cockgrobbler that supports this corporate fuckery dies in fire or flayed alive, or better yet both.
Joseph Williams
>Look it up >No star wars vidya by anyone other than EA until 2023. My fucking god.
Elijah Rodriguez
>2023 2026 at earliest. The contract with EA expires in LATE 2014. Even if new devs were to be allowed to make games, it takes 2 years minimum to make a new game unless you want to go for mobile shovelware or literally unfinished product.
Thomas Hernandez
>yfw the offical TPM game was actually really good and much better than the movie
I still replay it to this day occasionally. PC version is much better than the console version too.
Thomas Turner
You're making me consider actually getting it.
Was there an Ep2 game btw? I don't think there was.
Noah Phillips
Holy shit. Reminds me how of fucking glad I am that Porsche let their "contract" with EA expire. Shoutout to RUF for keeping it real in the meanwhile but it's not the same, man
Asher Thompson
>2026 I d
Dominic Russell
You are a man of fine taste user.
Kayden Adams
>replying to your own post
Embarrassing.
Michael Hill
yes but it was GBA only
Dylan James
So EA no longer has exclusivity for Porsche? That's good.
>Shoutout to RUF for keeping it real in the meanwhile but it's not the same, man How so? RUF is LITERALLY just a tuned Porsche without the Porsche logo.
Anthony Harris
They released a teaser in 2013 EA e3, aka two years and a half before the release date (november 2015)
Actually, they started working may 2013, which multiple soruces confirm, so it's a total of 31 months before release in nov 2015. So it's over 2 years AND A HALF in development.
Also, hint: marketing budget is part od the development budget. That's how every big company in the world works. They allocate the total budget and then separate them into the different departments.
So you are just wrong in every way.
Try not to have an aneurysm while you type angrily at keyboard, buddy. Especially when you know you are wrong
Asher Richardson
No unfortunately not. I really wish there had been an official Ep 2 game. Wonder why we never got one.
Handheld shit doesn't count.
Gavin Allen
>yes but it was GBA only Why. Jesus what the shit why.
The Episode 3 game on PS2 was the tightest shit, I don't understand why it didn't get hot reviews considering the fact that it has really amazing TECHNOLOGY for a PS2 game and was really well made as well and played fun with great SP campaign to boot and amazing unlockables.
So, should I give the Ep1 one a try if I never played it before?
Chase Sullivan
>>>yfw the offical TPM game was actually really good
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. it was a fun game, but far from "very good". Maybe a 6 or a 7
Mason Ross
The audience changed.
Thomas Rivera
>So it's over 2 years AND A HALF in development. By B-Team skeleton crew so who gives a fuck. A-Team could do that effort in a year.
>Also, hint: marketing budget is part od the development budget. That's how every big company in the world works. They allocate the total budget and then separate them into the different departments. That's literally what I said you cockmuncher.
Feel free to get cancer and die already you nigger sack of dog shit.
Bentley Wright
>Jesus what the shit why. No one likes Episode II.
Levi James
That's actually a very fair point. The worst SW movie by a large margin. The only reason Ep3 got so much better reception is because of how terrible Ep2 was in general.
Andrew Rivera
>Rrrrrr, you're a no good killer! 10/10 would go on murderous rampage again.
Kevin Barnes
His last remark asking about what went wrong with TFA and you go full sperg when someone answers You need to reassess your attitude

Same happened when the Hobbit movies came out. Everyone was hoping for a renaissance of LOTR games like when the LOTR movies came out, but there was nothing except Asscreed: LOTR edition and the Lego Hobbit game
Because of shit licensing issues and the budget of modern games we'll never EVER go back to that era where we get a bunch of games for a movie that comes out
Episode III era was the last great era for SW vidya
Noah Robinson
>Witcher 3 >10 million wut
Adam Taylor
>So, should I give the Ep1 one a try if I never played it before?
Definitly. It's kinda like an RPG, third person shooter/slasher, action adventure sort of thing. You switch characters a lot and they all play different. Qui Gon's bits on Tatooine are the best as the level design gets really open and there are RPG like quests. Obi Wan's parts are more straightforward killing droids. All good though. It's just the last 2 levels are kinda rushed and aren't as high quality.
Now, should I try out Ep 3? I actually haven't played it yet. Does it emulate well?
Isaiah Turner
>Replying to your own post AGAIN
Embarrassing.
Samuel Lewis
At least Episode II gave us Republic Commando
Jordan Morales
RUF's tend to have bloated horsepower numbers that bump them into higher classes where they're then outhandled by lighter/more agile cars.
Levi Williams
Nah fuck off. It's a legit classic. I would not put it any less than a 10/10.
It's one of my favorite games of all time and I regularly replay it.
Christian Hernandez
>The only reason Ep3 got so much better reception is because of how terrible Ep2 was in general. Well that and it had Sheev.
Colton Walker
60 million budget with 50 being confirmed for marketing, do the math.
Levi Torres
>Find another shipyard salesman since the flying jew refuses to sell me the engine without progressing the story

>you'll give me the engine for 500 credits
>I'll give you the engine for 500 credits
>nothing happen, the conversation ends
T-Thanks game
Luke White
I can't differentiate which game I am nostalgic for. Which was better, this or Jedi Power Battles.
>And knowing this industry, the marketing was probably 90% of the game's budget. Even Witcher 3, a game made with potatoes, was confirmed to have only cost 10 million while the other 50 went straight into marketing.
Gee, I wonder where salary are bigger and game devs are paid higher, poland where cd projeckt is or FUCKING STOCKHOLM WHERE DICE IS
Xavier Butler
>Now, should I try out Ep 3? I actually haven't played it yet. Does it emulate well? It's absolutely amazing, great visuals and solid gameplay, ton of level variety, good and robust story mode, proper boss battles, actual 1 on 1 duel mode, alternate ending where Anakin wins, you actually get to play through the assault on Jedi Temple rather than it being mostly offscreen like the movie, you get to kick the shit out of the second best duelist in the order after Windu (Cin Drallig) and you get to spar with Windu as well before Palpatine does the killing blow.
It's an amazing game.
It has secret unlockable Ep4 ANH Vader vs Ben Kenobi duel.
Don't know about emulating it but due to the technowizardry they did with it I assume it's hard to emulate.
Michael Hernandez
Republic Commando was one of the games released in the lead up to 3 user.
It's a damn shame that a lot of the good Star Wars games of that era were either Ep 1 or 3 games.
Battlefront was before 3 but couldn't be counted as a 2 game it was more like all the eps but 3.
2 has Bounty Hunter and The Clone Wars (the one Pandemic made before Battlefront) and it's chapter in Lego Star Wars. What else did it get?
Such a shame, seeing as George makes his films to be a universe for making games and books out of, that 2 got so little games made out of it.
Oh we got Galactic Battlegrounds Clone Campaigns expansion from 2 I guess. So many cool things introduced in 2 and so little games from it. There was also Jedi Starfighter as well right?
Grayson Hill
Ep2 gave us a ton of vidya, just not actual Ep2 game.
Luis Adams
Jedi Power Battles was insanely difficult and was more a side scrolling sorta game with a fixed camera and shit platforming.
Nathan Campbell
Don't know about Forza since my only experience was Forza 3 which was arcade as fuck compared to Gran Turismo 6, but GT6 allows you to downtune cars to avoid higher categories.
Ep2 had Sheev too, though nowhere near as much of him. I still think that for all the shit Ep2 did, it had two really good scenes. The entire duel with Jango Fett (and the following space chase) and the ending, with Palpatine overseeing the new clone army and Republic's music leitmotiff fading into Imperial March.
Alexander Garcia
How are you gonna bring the entire engine to your ship though? Remember in the later mission you have to get it towed there by those beasts in a convoy where you get ambushed by Maul?
Watto has the stuff to tow it with.
Carter Gonzalez
Gran Turismo is awesome, you can add weights to your to lower the class index and fine tune it right down to single digits. Literally fucking cheating in a good way.
Owen Jackson
Please stop using texture filtering in PS1 games which clearly weren't designed with it in mind, it looks like utter fucking shit and even creates tiling due to filtering breaking the seams.
Adrian Cox
idk maybe THE FUCKING FORCE
Connor Long
Fuck, I didn't know that. I almost bought it back in the day but my faggy friend said it was shit so I didn't bother.
If it's actually good I should probably buy it. Should I get it on Xbox or PS2? Did the Xbox version have any improved lighting or assets?
Easton Wright
>PS1
This is the PC version you retard. Do you think that the PS1 could handle mirrors like this
Daniel Campbell
Ep2 gave us: Galactic Battlegrounds - Clone Campaigns Bounty Hunter New Droid Army (GBA game but really good) Jedi Starfighter Racer Revenge Pandemic's "The Clone Wars" Battlefront 1 The 2 KotOR games also happened as a direct influence of Ep2.
That's still a fuckton of games user.
Angel Robinson
>that image
I don't remember exactly why but I'm feeling triggered
Xavier Russell
Not only can PS1 handle mirrors, the two versions are literally fucking identical with the only difference being that PC has forced texture filtering you dumb fucking retard.
Luke Foster
I would not say Kotor was related to Ep 2. There were a lot of good Star Wars games released around Ep 2 that were unreleated too it, like Jedi Outcast and Academy as well.
What is the New Droid Army like? I think I vaguely remember hearing of it's existence before.
Parker Davis
THE DOOR'S OPEN
LET'S GO
Matthew Jackson
>Step on Dung Worms in Tatooine >People start making comments about how you stink
It's the little things.
William Howard
I played on PS2 but I'd assume it's better or at least equal on Xbox, at least I don't know of a single case of Xbox version being worse than PS2. It's always equal or better. And Xbox one probably runs on X360 backwards compatibility so you'd have higher resolution there as X360 backwards compatibility runs in 720p.
Parker Lee
Ah, fair enough
Noah Nelson
lol i'll prly get called that user but new poster here, ep1 was actually decent 2 was shit 3 was crap. 4 was good 5 was great 6 was decent 7 was crap
Joseph Brown
No it fucking isn't you spastic fuck. Don't you dare fucking lecture me on TPM game again. I am willing to bet that aside from the devs themselves I am the worlds foremost expert on this game. I have played both versions so many fucking times I am obsessed with this game.
Do you know that the dev who designed the level for Tatooine later went on to join GSC and make Stalker. No you fucking didn't because you aren't as obsessed with this game as me.
They are not the fucking same at all. I have played both version side by side. My PS1 version on my CRT and the PC version on my LED. The PS1 version is a port that was done at a later date and is significantly scaled back with more simple model geometry. Lower texture quality. NO MIRROR's or reflections at all. Much much lower quality textures. Different visual effects (like decals, 3D models, objects, assets, water splashes when jumping into water, amount of AI fish in the water). A lower draw distance. A more zoomed in camera. Some glitches that were not present in the PC version (like Qui Gon spazzing out on the bridge in Theed).
The PC versions texture filtering looks much better than the blurred mess that is the PS1 version. I have even emulated the PS1 version up to 1080p and it still looks worse than the PC version in every way, and the PC version does not have the wobbly polygon issue either.
Lincoln Foster
It wasn't related in that it has no relation to the time period, but Ep2 movie happening was direct result of new games including KotOR to be made.
New Droid Army is basically isometric Diablo-ish RPG hack n slash with original plot. Dooku is the final boss and you kill him, so to later remedy this they retconned it in a novel to Dooku creating a dopplegänger through the Force to escape and fooling Anakin into temporarily thinking he killed the real one.
Oliver Long
>I am underage please call me a giant faggot
Jackson Rodriguez
These are PC screenshots though, you can tell from the difference in the UI. It's a very slight difference but it is there.
Liam Cooper
Unlike with Quake and many other early 3D games, they weren't relient on software rendering and didn't really customize the art style for it. Texture filtering is beneficial in this situation and not wrong just because you're eye is not used to it.
Jason Stewart

I'm still surprised that Star Wars RACER was the only pod-racing game we ever got.
I'd play the shit out of a 2017 Pod racing game
Leo Myers
>so to later remedy this they retconned it in a novel to Dooku creating a dopplegänger through the Force to escape and fooling Anakin into temporarily thinking he killed the real one. why? why not say it's just a game and move on?
goddammit EU
Jack Williams
Firstly may I ask why you are so obsessed with this one particular game?
Secondly do you know where I can find the pc version or a playthrough of it online?
Just ignore the second question if you don't feel like spoonfeeding friendo.
Carson Torres
It really is this shit that led to EU getting scrapped.
