Hes a fat cat, there saved myself the time of loading it up.

>looking for a time sink
>remember how much i have grown to hate exploration focused games since witcher 3 came out
>no new story driven AAA RPGs on the market
>even bought DA3
>it's shit
I hate video games.

You're the only one who plays this trash.

You mean Khajiit, that's pretty cool bro

picked it up during the sale, 15 bucks and no sub seems bretty gud to me. Started as a sorc for my first character, having fun at the moment just solo questing. how socially-oriented is the game later on? is there a lot of group-focused content? should I be looking for a guild to join ASAP or can I just keep soloing through the main story quest and worry about it later?

and also, seeing as how there aren't any armor restrictions for classes that I can tell, what would be the disadvantage of wearing medium/heavy armor as a caster? is there any?

Sell me on ESO. I've been on and off curious about it.

Khajiits are cats, I made mine a fat cat paladin type guy. Came out pretty interesting.
Armor classes give you decent passive bonuses to certain things more than others. With light armor you get a lot of regen and magic damage.
Its got a ton of character customization and thats about the only nice thing I can say. Other than that its fairly fun to play, wish I had friends for it.

>tfw when only one eye type

this game is trash my character is in the bin

is eso still fairly active?

Can't be bothered to load it up, have a picture of some money guzzling shit I found on my trade guild though.

Played an orc, had some white face paint and dreads is about all I can remember. Game made for a good Tzeentch Sorcerer/Champion simulator.

>tanky sorc
>decked out in heavy armour with axe and shield
>but still casting dark magic, summoning daedra
Pretty fun shit, best modern MMO in my opinion, but I hit all the skills I wanted somewhere level 30-40 and so got bored still with the same skillset at Veteran 2.

Yeah, pretty populated as far as I can tell, and they are constantly adding new stuff, like they will be adding player housing in febuary.

Join a trade guild for sure, but other than that I found the dungeonfinder thingo pretty alright. World bosses in Orsinium are fun shit, I didn't mind repeating them for some time and it's easy to find groups running them.

Oh fuck, player housing gives me a chub. I reckon that'd be just the thing to get me back into it.

game sucks idiot

Guess I might give it a go then. I'm really bored of wow.

I can't seem to find a trial though. Is there one? I thought that was pretty de rigueur for MMOs.

>from 55g to 225k
wat

Can't wait for the player houses

Sadly the steam sale just ended. I haven't seen any trials offered

Yeah, looks pretty hype. Gonna be something like 40 homes to choose from at launch and they will be fully cutomizable ala fallout 4's settlement mode.

No trial i'm afraid, they have occasionally done free weekends however, and what with all the sales I figure you could either trade for a cheap steam copy of just buy it and use the return policy if you don't like it. Fyi though, if you like the single player games and you enjoy MMO's there is a pretty good chance that you will like the game.

Are the DLC packs that come with the gold editon worth it?

Yeah a few of them are pretty good. Pick it up on g2a, cheapest price there.

I have mag and stamp
of every class all at 561. All of them are at least a major in PvP. Total of ~750 champ points.

I stopped playing though.

Imperial city is alright, wrothgar is top tier if you like pve and questing, thieves guild and dark brotherhood are both pretty fun and have some neat new skill lines and gear. Overall they are pretty good, with the only paid dlc currently out that you miss out on being shadows of the hist, which also happens to be the weakest dlc anyway so yeah. Really if you plan on getting eso and think you will like it, the gold edition is worth it.

Low-res video capture because too lazy to go rooting around in my high res screens

He's rocking the patriarch beard now

I would if the PC server wasn't down for maintenance right now.

Is it super grindy?

What's the best and worst part of ESO if you could summarize gameplay?

Grindy? Hell no.

Best part? It's like a Skyrim MMO, take that as you will but for me I loved it. As a "full", singleplayer game I always thought Skyrim to be patchy, combat is floaty, there are basic weapons outright missing, combat is all a bit casual. As an MMO though you can forgive the floaty combat and other flaws become quite minor, as you then get stuff like proper stealth (stealthing through a dungeon and just soloing the bosses is amazing) and thieving, which for me I've never experienced before in an MMO. Also, the best gear you'll get is stuff you craft yourself, it's an amazing feeling getting all the mats together, crafting runes and shit to form an ideal weapon that's far better than any random boss drops or quest rewards.

Worst part I found was the skill "tree". I mean, it's a line really, not a tree, and it sucks. Yeah sure, there are plenty of these skill lines, but I just found the concept of a straight line boring to advance down, and like I said earlier in the thread I'd unlocked all my skills kinda early in leveling and my hotbar just didn't change for tens of hours of gameplay, which just bored me.

I do think all the skills are a major bonus, I have fun fucking around seeing what works together, sometimes I switch shit up for different fights. The most boring part imo is how the combat often feels unreactive as it could.

Oh yeah, but that's all MMOs. I've never played an MMO with truly reactive combat, maybe Skyforge got close actually but that game was utter shit in other aspects.

...

just bought the game yesterday and made the character today like 5 minutes before maint, so, cellphone photo instead of screenshot. Sorry.
After the pic I made her shoulders a bit wider and skin a bit more tan, but this is basically it!

what's the best race for a sorc? I was thinking of going Breton

still $15 off the official store. seems like steam just has double prices...

wish i knew that before i bought it on steam on sale but whatever

Stamina Sorceror Orc is current meta meme for pvp.

>sadly

You're better off not having this game on Steam. When the Steam servers are down, you can't play ESO if you own it on Steam.

nord girls are best girls

Do what I do and make cat everything, everyone loves cats.

Mah nigger! Fat cats are the best!

i'm and nords are THICC but I prefer bretons (which is what that redhead is)

actually, i almost went argonian but i despise their titties. they're reptiles why do they have tits

oh I thought that tattoo was for nords only

tattoo is for faggots only

guess not
definitely feels very nordy though, doesn't it? as badass as they are

Dunno if i'd say grindy, but it does have a shitton of content in it and researching traits for crafting items with enhancements can litterally take many real time weeks.

For reference, i've played roughly 200 hours and have only fone through 3 of the 5 main zones for the EP, the faction I chose. And even then I skipped over many locations, dungeons, quests and so on in those 3 zones I went through, so I have to go back at some point. And that's just 1 faction. Hell, there is an achivement in the game that you get after completing 1000 quests.

As for researching traits it starts off taking a few hours for a trait, but later can go on to take exponetially longer. Even at rank 4 of a perk that affects research time it takes 30 days to research the 9th, final trait for an item. Again not grindy, just very time based. Luckily it's the only system like that in the game, so yeah. And if you want a specific trait on an item you can just ask someone to make it for you or hope to find it.

Because the garrison system did a great job in WoW.

>want to play
>the complete download is more that my monthly cap
>wonder if 220ms is worth it

Is this how I make money as a crafter? I have two stacks of these in my bank waiting to be spent once I get to cp160+

That shit is going to be so expensive you can only possibly get it with Crowns or if you've been playing / grinding since launch.

Decorating it would cost more than the house itself. Just like the crates in the game!

Is this game worth it on PS4? Or does it run like shit?

>wonder if 220ms is worth it
I play at 300ish, it is entirely playable but you will frequently see how much better it would be with a lower ping. I will also mention I don't do any top tier vet dungeons or anything so couldn't tell you how doable they are.

Thanks for the feedback. I will consider it :)

Why is there DLC for an MMO
i don't get it.
do i need the gold edition or is the tamriel unlimited thing enough? cause it's like 8 bucks... might as well try it for that price.

My Redguard played by movie actor Danny Glover

think of it like mini expansions, my dude

i asked the same question (is gold worth it) to /tesog/ the other day and they said essentially its just more content. If ur sure ull like the game, grab it, otherwise, why worry? apparently you can upgrade later, and you can go hundreds of hours into the game without craving dlc

You don't NEED the DLC, it's just new areas / missions / dungeons etc.

But there is DLC because this game is B2P, you don't need a subscription to play and they still have to earn money somehow.

If you do get a subscription it does include access to all DLC as long as you have that subscription.

>monthly cap

is ESO free now or something?
I've seen so many friends playing it

>my character was hulk hogan
where were screenshots for this saved

No, I believe that was me uncovering some kind of money embezzlement in my trade guild.

youtube.com/watch?v=DGNIXBd-kgU

but it did

it was just the rest of the expansion that sucked massive dick

>tfw I want to like this game but don't have the patience for it

I played the fuck out of it during the beta but when a free weekend rolled around I couldn't be fucked to get back to the point I was at before

Buy to Play, but it's on sale so cheap that the cost of entry is basically nothing.

well fugg
I should've probably bought in on the sale DD:

I bought the gold edition for half its original price and it was a good deal. It came with four DLC's and 500 crowns that I can use to buy cosmetics or whatever.
Still haven't wasted them like a smart goy.

see

Playing ESO

lol

The game is still on sale on the ESO website, just not on Steam.

You don't want the Steam version, trust me.

whats so bad with the steam version?

I bought ESO for 8 bucks from G2A while it was on sale, but I can't get into it.

I just hate how low impact the combat is. I know I should have expected it as an Elder Scrolls game, but it's just so weightless and floaty. After playing Black Desert, it's hard to go to something where there's no weight behind any of the skills.

You what? It's so easy to chew through this game, apparently you can even get a character to 60 in 10 hours or so.

really? well shit I might pick it up when it goes on sale again

Can anyone tell me the download size? I hear it's like 100gb

I will add a caveat, that was what I heard on /esog/ back in the day and it involves autistically grinding mobs in certain areas rather than actually following the quests, but I never found questing particularly slow either. The version of the game I got came with some free XP boost scrolls too, so that definitely helped.

Lot's of people had trouble with the Steam version not working correctly.
You can also only play the game if the Steam servers are up, so you're now dependent on two services working instead of just one.
Also all DLC / Crown purchase / Subscription goes through Steam only, so if the sale is only on the official site you're out of luck.

67 gigs

just buy it from the official store. its $15 there. steam has double prices for some bizarre reason...

Has ESO improved much since launch?

>uk store has it at £24

;_;

Still available on sale on the official site.
You get free double XP until sometime tomorrow if you want to get some of the early levels done quickly. Just ask in zone chat if there is someone willing to let you teleport to Breda in Eastmarch and drink from the XP boost keg.

SIXTY SEVEN GIGTYDOOS!? BETHESDA!

>Aldmeri dominion
>Daggerfall Covenant
>Ebonheart Pact

Which one?

Ebonheart has all the cool races together but the idea of nords, dunmer and argonians working together somewhat triggers me.

Yes, very much.

Regular or Gold edition?

gold I think, i'd have to check again tho

The game is fully voice acted, even all non-important npcs.

someone in /tesog/ likened it to FFXIV's 2.0 relaunch, so apparantly some major shit has changed

the biggest thing is there's no longer alliance restrictions on anything. you can go anywhere at any level (zones scale now), and you can do dungeons with enemy alliances but still pvp with them outside

im so sorry :c
its like $15 usd but im in east asia. friend in US reports same price, though. maybe try a vpn to spoof ur location while u purchase?

i dont understand

Impressive. Maybe I'll buy it physical. That might save me some time.

The $15 version is the regular edition, not Gold. Gold is $29.99 or something.

I love you

housing and garrisons are incredibly different things

if I do buy it, getting gold would be worth the extra dosh though right?

4 expacks and a bunch of other shit

You get used to it. How long did you play for anyway? Perhaps you could try out some of the different classes and play around with the many ablities avalible to find something you like, I never found the combat to feel that awful myself, but after dinding some skills that I like I found that the combat became vastly more enjoyable.

Depends on what you plan to do.

If you think you might get a subscription, then don't buy the gold edition because you can access the DLC while on a subscription.

If you don't get a subscription and like doing PvE / dungeons, the Gold edition is very much worth it imo. Wrothgar DLC is some of the best PvE story missions in the game.

i'm not sure. I just made my character and then maint started today, so I don't actually have any gameplay experience.

i think there's a way to upgrade to gold edition after the fact, though. you can also choose to sub which gives u access to all the dlc for the duration of your sub (u dont lose progress in them when sub runs out), you get a monthly allowance of crowns (same amount as if you just straight up bought them instead of subbing), as well as a crafting bag and other stuff.

Personally I'm gonna go the sub route if the game pulls me in

urgh servers still in maintenance. the only reason why im on Sup Forums right now

>i dont understand
Australia has really slow, metered, and capped internet in general. 67 gig is a crazy undertaking for many of us.

>tfw gears of war 4 took me two days to download

EP all day. And don't worry, when you go through the various quests in the ebonheart zones you will see that your concern is a non-issue, as they still all hate eachother very much so.

You can buy the 4 DLC pack from the store which is basically a Gold edition upgrade.

I didn't play very long, I also felt very restricted by the skill set. It didn't feel like I had much of a way to customize my character and there were so few skills. It was like I was playing Guild Wars 2 all over again.

I just can't really have fun in a game without enjoying the combat, and I think Black Desert has spoiled me forever on that. It has amazing combat for an MMO, too bad about everything else though.
