You will be buying Yakuza 0
....Right?
You will be buying Yakuza 0
....Right?
Yes because no censorship.
no, because yakuza 5 did not feel like a good game, maybe I should grab it but I will wait for a sale
I really liked Chapter 1, had to push through Chapter 2, loved Chapter 3, lost interest again at 4.
The ending was a bit bad.
I think 5 is a bit of a bumpy ride but overall I enjoyed it.
Looks like 0 might have a tighter focus.
is yakuza 5 worth it for 14 dollaridoos?
Yakuza 4 was kind of okay. I got kind of bored after like 85% through the game and just finished it
Of course.
Are you supposed to have played the previous games first?
Already preordered it, and I never preorder anything.
Zero is chronologically first as a prequel to 1.
You can start with it fine.
Got it pre-ordered.
Will the good comfy Yakuza threads return? Or is it just going to be hostility and shitposting like the last few we've had? If it's the latter, then I'm all for trying to have a thread on /vg/, even if it will probably die after 15 minutes.
I don't know.
Comfy threads seem to be impossible on Sup Forums now since there always seems to be one or two people who hate every series for some reason.
We can't even get good Falcom threads now.
Doubt they'll return. I stopped regularly visiting them since the start of Yakuza 0 PC shitposting. It all went downhill from there.
By the way, did Yakuza Black Panther fan translators release WIP build they promised when they announced that they stopped making it? And what happened to Kenzan translation\Y3 uncensoring projects?
>We can't even get good Falcom threads now.
It's getting hard to have good Dragon Quest and Yoko Taro threads now too. Just when you think Sup Forums can't get any worse, it somehow does.
Yeah, I'm not on here that often anymore either. I mostly just lurk /vr/ now. Well I hope everyone has fun with it, even if we don't get to discuss it anymore.
The problem is all these newfags who let themselves get baited too easy.
Shitposting was never a problem until people started arguing back over pointless things again and again in every thread.
you can definitely try and make one and get one going for Yakuza 0's launch, not sure how long they'll last though
also it feels like it really depends when you post the yakuza thread, some are decent and some just 404 straight away
Holy shit, how are Saejima sections always God Tier?
>rock punching
>fight club
>little league fight club manager
>that assassination cut scene
>fights the protagonist
>SUPER ARMOR
>hunting
I think it's the possible Yakuza 0 PC announcement that made threads so bad, threads before that were great. Now every Yakuza thread is just shitposting or a JAV thread
>JAV thread
I don't see this but I'd be happy if I did.
Anri is cute.
I've noticed the JAV posters have just started making their own "Yakuza" threads which is nice of them. Too bad no one wants to post in the real threads now though. This one probably wont even make it to 100.
>buy
what this console pesant word mean again?
I remember Yakuza thread posters wanted to migrate to /jp/ since Sup Forums is utter shit and finally leaked into RGG threads and /vg/ is a waifufest with LifeIsStrange General #1488.
It's probably because of Ys 8 and the new Sen game. Both are on Japanese Sony only right now, so there's lots of shitposting angles like consoleshit or smug elitism over english fans having to wait, and PC not getting either anytime soon so you have to shittalk the games until you do.
Not that I agree with it but that's probably why.
>I mostly just lurk /vr/ now
I wish we had /vd/ or something with legit vidya discussions and mods that remove retards like they do on /vr/.
/jp/ would be nice, but the janny over there is really strict and it would never work. It's too bad, it would be a good board for Yakuza, since it's pretty slow and the games being so Japanese would naturally attract a lot of /jp/sies. Then again, they do allow JAV threads over there, so you never know.
Yak 0 might get a PC release?
Will we finally see some proper yakuza dirty business in Zero or is it all going to be romanticized whitewashed bullshit like the others? I'd really want to see the dark side of the business at some point. So far I only watched the heat action compilations and it does seem like this time around Kazuma and of course Majima are quite a lot more violent than usual, and I hope the story reflects that. Getting really tired of the "criminal with a heart of gold", "old school yakuza were good guys" meme.
yeah sega of europe said they had some sort of announcement to make this month, if it's true then Yakuza threads will be dead forever.
It's more of the same, really.
>if it's true then Yakuza threads will be dead forever.
At least something good will come out of it - easy to make patches that will return music, more people will play it and other stuff. It's not like these threads have been good for a while now.
Seriously? People were saying this was the best Yakuza game story wise (and gameplay wise of course), are the tweeests really that stupid again?
It's more of the same. I don't think they'll ever change that up.
From what I've read not even Majima kills anyone in this. So yeah, more of the same. I miss the villainous Majima from 1.
Well then, I'll still buy it but this shit is getting boring. Sure we get to see the dark side of Yakuza with the villains and shit but seriously, how the fuck does the Tojo sustain itself if everyone is a Robin Hood? They surely dwell in extortion, prostitution, drug trafficking (maybe? I'm not sure if the yakuza does drug), human trafficking, protection racket, murders, and all of that shit. I really want to take part in that shit at some point, even if the character later repents or some shit like that.
Of course. I played all entries from 1 to 5 and loved them all.
I'd like to play a Yakuza game like that too, but I just don't think SEGA will ever go through with it. For whatever reason, they just can't bring themselves to allow us to play as a real bastard for once. I think our best chance at a game like that, would be if Acquire made a Way of the Samurai style game about the Yakuza, since you can roleplay however you want in those games and act like a total edgelord if you feel like it. I'll never forget when I got that hidden ending in WotS 3 for killing every single NPC.
It's not about acting like an edgelord, that shit is what the real yakuza does, so I want to be able to also see that part of the business.
Speaking of WotS. Can you recommend playing it? And what games too (and what versions of them) - all from 1 to 4 or just some of them?
... Is that like "just start with MGS3 fine?" Or actually fine?
Yes.
The overarcing plot is largely irrelevant.
It matters as much as story in a porno.
It's okay for what it is but it's just there to serve as a facilitator for men to end up on top of a skyscraper, rip their shits off and wrestle.
I guess I should have specified that WotS isn't just about the edgelord aspect. It's one of those games that isn't afraid to portray a more honest (while still occasionally wacky) portrayal of Feudal Japan, since the player isn't required to be a "ronin with a heart of gold", you can side with the villains or you can still be a good guy while still killing people that get in your way. None of that boyscout bullshit were Kazuma refuses to kill his opponent and then turns his back on him while he is still armed happens in WotS. Ishin and Kenzan were a step in the right direction imo, since Musashi and Ryoma actually kill a few people in the story, which stays true to the period and to Musashi's legend (not sure if Ryoma ever actually killed anyone).
Definitely, it's an incredibly underrated series that really lets you alter the story to your liking. It doesn't have the highest production values, but I think most yakuza fans would probably enjoy them. 1 and 2 are on PS2 only and I'm not sure how well they emulate. 3 and 4 can be found on PS3 and Steam. I think they're all worth playing, but 1 is probably my favorite one, while 2 is my least favorite.
How are the reviews for Y6 anyway? Are they good? In the middle? Most people seem to hate the game.
Gotcha, thanks. I'll give it a try.
Yes, they'll be dead because you console faggots won't stop shitposting about how the threads are dead now and falseflag as pcfags until the threads really do die.
Fucking kill yourself.
Calm down, cuck.
yeh seems to be worse than 0 and perhaps worst ever
>perhaps worst ever
This will really hurt if it ends up being true, I was so hyped for 6. I still remember all the threads we had about how it would end. I guess I should have expected the bad story based on their writer's history, but for the gameplay to be a step back is just too much.
yeah sounds really disappointing. Obviously we shouldn't let these opinions colour our playthrough but the press has been disturbing.
I'm still buying it when it comes out in the West and making up my own mind about it, but some of this news has really killed my hype. I hope they do another spin off after this, they need to let the main story rest for a while. It would also be nice if they went back to the engine from Ishin and Zero, but I don't see that happening unfortunately.
>I still remember all the threads we had about how it would end.
The one where the user said you had to fight a literal heart on top of the millenium tower was the best one.
But you'll be the one getting cucked in a couple months.
I should have screencapped that one.
I preordered 3 copies.
Really.
Jesus, what for? For your friends?
>all this talk of preorders
>mfw my friend actually preordered this guy is nowhere to be seen anymore
These threads really are dead aren't they?
yes.
Also one of them told me yesterday that hes going to get it on day one - so he'll unknowingly pass Zero to one of his friends.
He's been gone for a long time. I'd been re-posting his pic for a while, but fuck it, thread is barely alive anyway.
>JAV thread
That was a thing for a while, ever since Yakuza 0 announcement, which was a JAV awards.
Though ever since Anri got announced in Y6 it got only worse.
Fuck yes
Get ready for it. Threads will cover the front page of Sup Forums around the end of the month. People will go on and on about the games and overall story. Then once the marketing campaign is over, it will die again...until the next game is released.
If Yakuza 4 was your first yakuza, please don't voice your opinions publicly, it's embarrassing.
I started with Yakuza 4 back when it was released and if not for it I wouldn't even know the series. Fight me.
I hope you're right user, there are very few places online to discuss Yakuza.
I hope you're right but i doubt it, Kingdom Hearts AND Resi 7 drop on the same day,
>migrate to /jp/
I don't mind the idea.
>/fit/
I started with Yakuza 1 in 2015!
idk, tell me something about it
i tried playing one in japanese but i didn't know japanese so i stopped
I still have to finish 5
Why did they drop Tanimura because I really liked that dude
The actor that played him was a dick and wanted more money or something like that.
>On December 9, 2016, Narimiya sent a fax to TV news channels announcing that he was leaving the entertainment industry due to allegations he used cocaine.
wwwwwwwwww
>rock punching
That shit was retarded but I wholeheartedly agree with the rest of your statement
Now he can become a real life hard boiled criminal wandering the mean streets of Tokyo getting fights with random punks like in my Chinese games!
I guess Tanimura will be relegated into the list of cool characters that will NEVER EVER be brought up again ;-;
NO TIME TO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE
Havent played the game but from everything I seen I have a feeling they going for another Sonatine or something.
Yakuza 3 definitely has that feel at the beginning especially because of the Okinawa setting.
Yeah
of course, anyone with taste will
How do you rate Yakuza 3-5?
Played first two games but have issues getting third game, wonder whether I should skip Y3 and go for Y4 and 5 or wait till I play trough third one.
3 is a fine game but people tend to dislike it becuase you spend the first hours of the game taking care of children and not doing manly yakuza stuff also becuase 3 is where the story in the series start to really go pants on head retarded
4 and 5 are generally agreed to be great games overall
3 is a very divisive game in these threads and what some consider "poor pacing", others consider "comfy". Story wise you could probably afford to miss out on 3 since it's fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things. You should play 4 to get more accustomed to the new characters that it introduced, and 5, since 6 starts off after its ending.
Yakuza 3 is a comfy game with one of the worst scenes in the entire series.
Yakuza 4 is pretty good, you get to play as 4 dudes so that was a welcome change.
And Yakuza 5 is great albeit a bit bloated at times.
Comfy I dont mind, I like comfy, how long it is comparing to Y2?
You could probably get through just the story in like 15 hours. Expect to play much longer if you want to do all the substories and 100% completion stuff.
A bit shorter than Yakuza 2 for me, i beat it in 26 hours while i beat Yakuza in 31 i believe.
Y3 is almost a filler of Yakuza series.
It's pretty comfy, has great soundtrack, intro is love/hate thing, but it also completely shits on Y2 story.
Everything content/gameplay wise Yakuza 3 has (other than Okinawa), is in Yakuza 4 anyway. And story (other than shitting on Y2 and one character) doesn't have much impact on the rest of the series, you might watch summaries in Y4 if you have troubles finding the game as well.
Yakuza being Yakuza 2
Did they improved on combat fluidity, visuals and interactions or it still PS2 tier as I heard.
Chapter 3 was the worst.
They improved everything, though Y3 combat's fells like pacing seems a little slower comparing to Y2, until you level up your character higher.
