HOW QUICKLY THE TIDE TURNS
Start playing yesterday
Dismas dies in tutorial
should I restart?
Just git gud, my friend. It is easier than dark souls, I suspose
Bump.
>play through game several years ago at this point
>don't send low-level guys on long quests
>consider bosses' fighting style and form party of A-tier characters to counter it
>end up with a single scrublord dying on week seven but that's it
Tell about how the game gits hard once you start getting your guys past level 3.
Surely this easy mode life cannot continue through the entire game, right?
>caring about heroes
darkest dungeon is about the hamlet
its also casual as fuck
its really just a glorified farmville with lovecraftian aesthetics.
> tfw you're one good unit is getting purged of the dark arts so you send 3 plague doctors and an arbelast on a run and get obliterated
Overconfidence precipitates a dizzying downfall!
Been playing this at work, since I have alot of iddle time but I can also pause/ignore the game anytime I want to answer a phonecall or something.
Any similar games I can try? Been playing sunless sea, but it feels like reading a book. I might just try CIV V or something.
>"dank"
If you say this unironically, you should kill yourself.
I have a friend who does this in real life. It's so fucking weird and cringy, jesus fucking christ.
Go steam, filter tag:
>turn based
Sort by popularity
Faster than light
killing yourself is dank af brah
I'll give it a try, thanks.

How quickly the tide turns
Dying in the tutorial probably meant you got some unlucky hits/misses/crits
Technically it's not that big of a loss from a long-term perspective but having either of the two tutorial characters die (in or out of the the tutorial) is generally considered absolutely unacceptable.
I swear to fucking god, his heals have to be scripted. How many times will this faggot keep healing for 0 (+ bleed) when I desperately need some double digits?
I have 4 characters who I trust and believe in, how do I get other characters do be as strong as them? Also what is a suicide run?
This stupid piece of shit is the worst character in the game and at the end of the day is just another liability to my men who end up getting stressed out and fucked up whenever this ugly asshole transforms and becomes somewhat useful.
I can see why my plague doctor doesn't even want to be in his presence.
grab party of 4 scrubs you want to level up
send them on bottom-tier dungeon quest
repeat until they are higher level
By suicide run you probably mean grabbing 4 smucks of the carriage, sending them into a dungeon with no provisions and grabbing as much loot as they can.
Once they are either finished with the dungeon or come back all busted up you take the money and dismiss the party from your roster.
Honestly i think the game should at least make you pay for recruiting new scrubs (unless maybe if your roster is empty) to prevent this strategy from being literally free.
I am loving the influx of DD threads. What happened to bring them about these last few days?
Try Level 5s and Dankest, I mean Darkest Dungeon for Level 6 (like the name of the game). One miss move and your A team is history.
Reminder that bandages, firewood, holy water, food, everything costs money.
Except people. People are free. People's souls are what you trade for firewood.
Burn those sinners, be the evil CEO exploiting the people for the greater goal of liberating your estate so you can be rich in peace.
The company started paying for shills :^)
In all seriousness, probably due to the steam sales.
Don't you mean Vestal, Leper and Crusader?
HAVE YOU NO CONSCIENCE OF YOUR OWN MEN?
No, if the game had a slave market I'd sell adventurers every week, up to recruitment cap.
More fuel for the fire.
No. That's the point of this game.
I'm pretty sure the leper doesn't care
Its not about being rich and living at your posh estate.
Its about redemption, and that even in real life to get it can feel like you're fighting against monsters.
THEN YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THE MONSTERS YOU SLAUGHTER
I'm pretty sure you have not had more than one hour in this game.
>Have a Crusader on the fourth spot
>One-shotting these cunts with holy lance
What a wonderful feeling.
steam sale
>lose top Occultist in fight leading up to Vvulf
>decide not to risk going to the boss fight itself
>exit
>oh right it needs a sacrifice
>can't even select which hero to leave behind
>Dismas is RIP
Debating on starting the whole fucking campaign over just so I have a chance at the achievement for bringing Reynauld and Dismas to the final dungeon
>it's a Madman stresses your whole team episode
Perhaps it's because I dismissed his sorry ass as soon as i finished a mission that he fucked up.
Blanket fire ain't free.
>hey guys let's promote an idea in a closed marginalised group of people and pay someone for that, there will be, like, 20 people
>don't feel a thing when your 30k gold updated hero dieded
I do want a sequel, but with it I think a mode where you build a dungeon for groups of adventurers to plunder would be fun. Imagine playing as the boss of a ruin watching groups flounder around dying one by one or all at once as the tide turns.
It's not about being better than your enemies.
It's about taking the estate back.
...
I have a bunch of pictures saved from some older Dankest Dungeon threads
>born just in time to heal 0; bleed
Stop transforming every fight, idiot. He's perfectly serviceable in human form, manacles deals very decent damage for being a stun attack. You transform him in important fights so you can delete the front lines.
...
>not equipping Occuntist with some + crit trinkets
>critting for 0; bleed
Acolyte best girl.
Too bad she is into tentacle.
AS VICTORIES MOUNT
SO TOO DOES RESISTANCE
Say I want a dosh party, how many antiquarians can I bring without absolutely fucking myself over?
will*
>3 times
>instantly
literally retarded.
Absolutely perfect. Right down the last detail.
>it's a blanket shot crits episode
...
I heard you can just rename other heroes and it will still count. Not sure if that's true though.
...
Every time I see this I kek hard
>troll tree trunk crit
Four.
>technically clear dungeon
>still a hallway and a room left unchecked
>what's the worst that could happen?
rip Reynauld, you were too good for this greedy world.
>the achievement for bringing Reynauld and Dismas to the final dungeon
Do you just have to start the dungeon with them present or do they need to survive the whole thing?
He's in a better place now.
>not reminding yourself
At this point I'd rather then not do a dlc or update to the existing game and rather add those things into a full on sequel that addresses the issues that the base game has.
i just picked this game up again after a year or so. There's a bunch of new characters now, what does the antiquarian and abomination do? My stage coach hasn't offered any of them to me yet.
What stops me from getting 3 antiquarians, and let's say 1 houndmaster, to a long easy dungeon and just camp twice in a row at the first oportunity, abuse the free trinkets and leave?
I think you just have to start it.
My Reynauld died in the tutorial, and I thought thats part of the script, so I kept going without him.
Abomb is a less good combat unit with a few smaller dots and shit, that can transform into a horrifyingly strong(and horrifying) creature that has the drawback of stressing your homies out each turn. Basically a big risk-reward dude.
Anti is basically a non-combat unit that makes you into an uber-jew. More gold, more trinkets, $$$$$. At the cost of an escort quest. Most people use a party of 4 of them to dive dungeons for $$$$$ then abandon the fucks.
Which introduction is your favorite?
>download the newest update
>played the game last time around a year ago or so
>get fucking critted in the tutorial and lose Dismas
I turned the game off out of shame.
Antiquarian is almost useless for fighting, but she increases the number of gold you get and your equipment limit. It's basically trading off one viable party member for more gold and loot.
Abomination has an ability to transform between human and monster form. Human form is decent and monster is very strong, although transforming increases whole party's stress. Some of it is healed after transforming back to human, but not all. He also cannot be in party with Crusader, Vestal and Leper since he's "unclean".
>innacoves
>purgin', killin' everything with ease
>suddenly the tide turns
>party is riddle with bleed and blight
>try to heal with the occultist
>0, CRITICAL, BLEED
Daily reminder that overconfidence...
...
How does the anti get mad dosh? is it a battle ability or camping skill? or some kind of passive they just naturally find more cash from whatever you find in chests and stuff?
Abom sounds pretty neat for a last resort if your team gets messed up badly.
This one is pretty weak, the redemption theme isn't felt as strongly when he is already half monster.
Antiquarian: use Protect Me with Highway Man who has Riposte. Easy money.
Abomination: great stun-support, after transform, even better damage than Leper.
isnt Sup Forums like in the top 3 boards?
THIS LINE SHALL NOT BREAK
>Grave Robber not in fourth slot to Lunge, Shadow Sneak then Lunge again
TRIGGERED.
Now who could this anonymous leper king be based of?
>not raising his son to crusade
Terrible father.
It's a passive, it's not even written anywhere on character sheet, so many people who didn't keep track of updates don't know about it and think she's useless. She also has a camping skill that gives you a free trinket.
As to Abomination most people here claim that you should only transform him when shit gets really serious, but I personally transform him almost always and the stress from it is usually quite manageable.
War is hell.
Fuck bitches, get artifacts.
Crusader is the best, no contest.
That one is weak. He's an experienced highwayman. I don't think one dead child would shake him so badly. It would for a normal person but that wasn't his first rodeo.
Leper is a close second imo
what's a good class to bring with to counter the stress? i was never terribly good at manage that stuff the last time i played, i usually played with pretty safe setups at the time.
I don't like this one either. The Highwayman makes more sense if you look at the Arbalest one, maybe thats "him" in there.
In that sense Crusader didn't teach his son to kill, but Highwayman taught his daughter. Its true in my head.
You now realize that was the Crusader's Family. Which explains their achievement name
I know you mean Baldwin, but Leper doesn't necessarily have to be a king. He could as well just be a normal guy who decided to commit himself to fight evil due to his sickness and the crowd praises him for that. The church could have also hyped up his popularity.
