The first two games were nothing but mediocre GTA clones, and Mafia 2 wasn't even that.

Mafia from the get go meant to be realistic as possible, have a story that is in the realms of reality and have a historical accuracy.
I remember when mafia came out and some dude in some british magazine gave it 3/10, because he was thinking just like you, then a some time later the very same magazine made top 100 games list and mafia was on it.
GTA and mafia are doing their own thing and of course when underage fags like you see an open world game with cars they label it immediately as a GTA clone.

Mafia's open world is even more pointless than MGSV, and like MGSV, Mafia 2 suffers from A LOT of cut content, including stuff that would have filled the open world.

They didn't cut it down because it didn't work, they cut it because the developers are a bunch of talentless hacks who pissed away the budget, who knows in what.

And I didn't say that it's a GTA clone because they cut things, it's a GTA clone because it does part of what GTA does, but worse, and as I said, with a completely empty and pointless open world that only has playboy magazines and the market for the next mission, missions which were almost always, aside from the beginning of the game, driving somewhere and killing some dudes.

It's a GTA clone because it does part of the same thing (not all because it was cut down due to the developers not having absolutely any idea of how to manage the budget of a game) and it doesn't develop it's own personality.

WHOEVER DID THE LIGHTING IN THIS GAME NEEDS A KICK IN THE BALLS. hands down the worst lighting in a game ive ever played. Some places its completely pitch black, others the sun explodes and my screen goes white. Its nauseating and my biggest gripe of the game

other then that its got its good aspects. The sit downs are cool and I like actually controlling rackets. If they dropped the soap boxing and doubled down on actually making the game playable it would have been a solid 7/10
