>Nerf DPs on shotos >you can still bait out DPs on shotos >absolute maximum risk and moderate reward on the shoto end >grapplers only block or press a button >shoto normals are so slow and stubby that grapplers can easily command grab through them >SFV is approaching 3rd Stroke levels of fireball uselessness
ALSO it's a lot harder to bait out a command grab than it is to bait a DPs
Grapplers are absolutely cancer and as soon as they get a free jump in on you (remember that grapplers have 1,000,000 and 1 angles to jump in at you and deep DPs are gone) they effectively put their opponents in 50/50s as long as they're next to them.
Proposed Changes >whiffed command grab should be put into Crush Counter state >give the grapplers a health or command grab dmg to compensate
>waah I got outplayed >this is capcom's fault, not mine!
Hudson Butler
Its that James chen
Ethan Ward
>shoto normals are so slow look at this nerd and laugh
Aaron Ward
Nobody is getting outplayed Half the giefs don't even understand how to condition properly >Zangief's light command grab has more range and less start up than is a shoto ST.HP. Street Fighter isn't a Goddamn Wrestling match.
Kayden Morales
>>shoto normals are so slow and stubby that grapplers can easily command grab through them Haha what Unless you're Mika or Gief good fucking luck grabbing someone at any less than half a jab range
Joshua Thomas
>Actually losing to the shittiest Gief has ever been
Joshua Morales
>playing ken or ryu when cammy and akuma still get invincible dp in v trigger >he needs invincible dp and anti air jab to win
Just play a charge character, you beat everyone in S2 as guile or urien
Daniel James
>Gief gets neutered >Still lose to Gief >Waaaaah!
This is why I love playing Gief.
Jacob Watson
Daigo-sama said Gief is god tier, I think i'm going to listen to him.
Thomas Garcia
Grapplers are still mid/high at fucking best you fucking baby.
SF4 ruined you faggots.
Brody James
How do I start learning a new character ? I've been playing Balrog since he was released and I'm now gold. I want to learn Birdie because I really like his playstyle, it looks similar to Hugo, but I have no idea where do I start.
Liam Rodriguez
HAHAHA complaining about Zangief HAHAHA as Ryu HAHAHAHAHA
Eli Campbell
>shoto normals are so slow and stubby that grapplers can easily command grab through them
not always true but this gets me triggered as FUCK when it happens
Daniel Parker
Character was already garbage and they only nerfed him further in S2.
So dont bother.
Brody Campbell
Learn normals, learn specials, learn gameplan, learn bnbs. In that order optimally. Birbie bnbs are fucking simple though and you should be able to grind them out in 10minutes when you got Balrog stuff down.
Fuck off retard
Adrian Ortiz
You still get invincibility on frame 3, which is the same as doing a wake up jab, and we know how much that works. Or you can just spend a bar, faggot.
Matthew Davis
When was the last time a grappler was actually good in a Street Fighter game? Fucking SF2 Hyper Fighting? For ONCE (FOR FUCKING ONCE) a grappler isn't absolute shit and babies complain about it?
Mason Cruz
>Fuck off retard
Nothing i said was wrong, but you clearly dont understand the game if you think he was more than low tier.
Xavier Wright
Grapplers are anti-fun by design.
Jack Kelly
Fuck off retard
Jeremiah Murphy
he's not as good as before but your go to is zoning with your normals, not really like Hugo much at all. st.mk and st.mp are amazing and dont be afraid to v reversal if you're getting mauled Spacing long overheads used to be a thing but its kinda shit now, cr.hp aa juggles 100% of the time now so if you can consistently cr.hp xx up chain AA you're gonna do TONS of damage.
You gotta be smart with Birdie and actually play footsies so he's a lot different from the rest of the cast.
Jaxon Cruz
Abel was good here and there, Gief was kinda high but far from top later on too.
Mika was definitely top in S1.
Honestly people who bitch about grapplers are homos though. The top tiers are usually characters that have the same gameplan as grapplers (get in and make people guess) only without the grippling flaws that balance grapplers out. They usually get the stupid divekicks and specials that get them in for free or just one bar. Sometimes they even get command grabs to make it extra retarded like in Yuns case.
Colton Butler
Thanks. I'm in training mode right now trying to learn his moves. I heard I can't brainlessly spam slide now :^)
Jason Young
>play footsies that's exactly why I want to play him, so I learn to play footsies. also because I heard he is a great counterpick to laura and mika in general, 2 matchups I hate with balrog
Dylan Hall
Taking the pressure off you isn't a "moderate" reward friend, try playing a character that has to hold that shit against an opponent who is very confident because he knows that he has nothing to fear against your wake-up.
Owen Martinez
Fuck all y'all weak ass scrubs, gotta use cheap shit because you refuse to get better st the game, EVOLVE
Josiah Wood
He's not strictly worse, mostly just different. He's got more combo potential now as his mp actually sucks the target in closer now which used to be an issue before.
Now he also gets oki off his revenger and command grabs which he only used to have in the corner before. Like he's actually more of a grappler now. V-reversal is great now as it blows people back fullscreen.
He also greatly benefits from the system changes and nerfs to other characters.
Slide is not good for poking anymore. It was kinda fraudulent. Its still alright to get past projectiles though. In the past you used to slide after a command grab to land a meaty, now you can just walk a few steps and press mp, mk, hk or hp after it and get a meaty too. Or dash up and grab. Basically you get more options than before in exchange for that slide being worse.
Careful, its not truly a matchup in his favor in every case. While they are out you have the advantage, when they get in you will get fucked. You will have to play ten times more solid than them to keep them out.
>Pick Ibuki >Have by far the best fireball in the game >Get a knockdown >EX Kunai restore >Get an anti air Kunai >Free combo or critical art into kunai refresh >Get V-Trigger >Gain one touch death combo
You mad, shotocuck?
Dominic James
I see you don't remember the spicy meme from Ultra
Nathaniel Cruz
Thanks fàm I appreciate the help.
Andrew Cox
That's literally not a ToD This is a ToD
Chase Richardson
THIS IS A FUCKING VIDEO
Josiah Hernandez
I mean, at least gief seems to have a good matchup with ryu in S2, makes it a bit more reasonable.
Parker Bailey
Oh that makoto is kuroda, I never noticed
Tyler Bailey
I actually didnt watch the video and thought you misinterpreted my post.
Julian Evans
I'm learning necalli, and he feels more like a jack of all trades than ryu does, he has EVERY tool, but none of them are very good. The recovery on his ghetto ass zoning v-skill is insane, and even when ex boosted and dp combo'd you would need to blow two bars to get similar damage to a real grappler off his head dunk. In short how do I better devour-our-our
Aaron Harris
>+1 EX lunge punch
why do you remind me of this shit
what were they thinking
Jack Sanchez
>Daigo-sama >COMMAND GRABBING INTENSIFIES
Joshua James
st.lk for tick throw Mp buttons and lp buttons for pressure
Space claw for a free way in since it's only - fucking 4 now, donty underestimate how hard it is to react to straight up dash in buttons/throws
The rest is just finding the memes that work for you.
Benjamin Price
>Fireballs are useless >In SFV >Where grapplers have shitty neutral game outside of maybe Gief
Shoto players are the most whiny pieces of shits ever.
Jason Foster
>Complaining about SFV Ryu >Who has an AA jab >Who has the strongest neutral game >Who has the most versatile buttons. Any button is most likely a combo that pushes you away from Ryu. >His DP is slightly riskier to do on wakeup unless its ex >OH NO
Justin Brooks
>Get knocked down >Block >Get grabbed >Jump or backdash >Get hit by heavy punch into knockdown >Mash jab >Get grabbed >Try to throw >Get hit by heavy punch into knockdown
haha just guess right haha
Jack Wright
SFV Gief can be super fucking strong. I suppose me being Laura or R Mika the match up makes sense but I fought a couple gold Giefs and boy, they are the most patient fuckers.
Easton Bailey
I never fucking understood what people wanted from wakeup game. Its fucking universal across the board in terms of guessing, what the fuck?
Owen Johnson
I don't play gief but from people I know that play him or vs them you cant leave super bronze without being really fucking patient let alone rising to gold.
Jack Taylor
I know nothing of fighting games, what is a shoto?
Joshua Ross
Characters with fireballs and a DP.
Parker Williams
They want no wakeup game. They want OS that let them escape for free like in SF4.
Logan Anderson
Original SF2 manual mistranslated Ryus fighting style as Shotokan Karate. Now people call Ryu and all of his clones Shotos. Fireball, Dragonpunch and Spinkicks define them. All of their other tools can be different, but they usually got those three moves on them.
Julian Rodriguez
Options.
Spending resources to allow yourself to get some breathing room, strong universal mechanics for defense, stuff like that.
Jonathan Miller
>mistranslated
Wait, what was it supposed to be?
Isaiah Baker
Ansatsuken. Basically Karate as an assassination technique. They just called it Shotokan because that was the only mainstream Karate style back then.
Isaiah Russell
How do I not be shit with Alex?
Connor Brown
Anyone got any tips on Alex? Seems like his stomps are weak IMO. Also is hyper bomb meaty an actual thing? Also is Lariat just a meme or is it actually great?
Cameron Morales
>People think the removal of invincible reversals was a good idea
All this does is make it so there's no character you can pick that's safe from the bullshit vortex this system encourages and exacerbates the 3 frame normal problem.
It's bad enough you can jump on half the cast all day with no response.
Lucas Peterson
Fuck you retard. And FUCK you if you cant anti air anybody with the way shotos are currently.
Ayden Davis
Stomps are a gimmick and easy to whiff. If you have to be cheeky with your charge specials throw in a light headbutt into your block strings or off a cr.lp confirm when people are figuring you'll just end in flash chop.
Lariat is good but you have to learn what ranges it'll whiff on crouching opponents at.
Wyatt Powell
Zangief has been high tier in A2, A3, and EX+Alpha he was top tier
If Makoto counts she's top/high tier in 3s
Adrian Powell
you can land a meaty command grab after an anti air knee when you dash up. you can also dash up and press mp after it. Basically you force a 50/50 after an anti air which is cool.
Gavin Myers
Jab into stomps or anti fireball EX stomp is basically the best gimmick, EX stomp is +2 on block so if you can aim it isn't actually the worst way in. Headbutt from longer ranges is semi-legit since a lot of people panic and stand block instead of just jumping stomps.
Apparently there's some kind of crossunder stomp setup or something I've heard about though.
Learn your setups, having a safe way in is important for alex because without that you've gotta just play footsies which, while you're good at, you don't really get rewarded for that well, especially in season 2.
Lariat is +3 on block, abuse that.
Ian Jones
A character made for low IQ drone fucks
Charles Barnes
They exist, motherfucker. Not the opponent's fault if they make a good guess.
Sebastian Watson
>AA jabs are still in Season 2
Why god why they feel so fucking unnatural
Owen Roberts
Not hard to make a good guess when it covers nearly every option.
SFV oki is like everything on attack is an OS because of how neutered defense is.
Alexander Bell
>Fireballs are useless
Characters that need to come close to do harm like Alex, R. Mika and Laura have no safe option to get around fireballs and need to make a hard read or spend valuable resources to come close to a shoto.
Only Zangief got a billion tools to use against projectiles, and Balrog practically nullifies them, other than that, every character has to use meter, and their anti fireball measure is almost always unsafe on block, and there is no parry or focus in this game to make fireballs "useless", fireballs are strong, even Urien's incredibly slow fireball does its work.
Levi Thomas
Are you implying slow fireballs are bad
Noah Williams
I like how, legitimately, your universal defensive mechanics are wakeup jab and jump tech.
Leo Cruz
Start jumping with j.HP or HK instead and watch it beat their AA jab every time. Don't do like ISDD and complain when someone jabs you out of your fucking empty jump, are jabs supposed to have no hitbox when attacking someone airborne?
Slow recovery-wise.
Brody Allen
>But muh v reversal
Removing DPs was a mistake, I always said that what you should be doing is giving other characters similar tools in exchange for spending resources.
David Myers
Are you sure about that? Is it universal across the board? R Mika's HK always seems to get beaten by the jab. I never thought about using HP.
Julian Gonzalez
>Giving SFV balrog an invincible reversal.
Yeah maybe if they also reduced his damage output by half.
Kevin Taylor
well yeah thats how you gotta play Zief
Luis Rodriguez
>literally 100% combo no wonder 3rd strike failed.
Joseph King
This is what scrubs who called zoning, 'cheating' wanted. They lied about loving 3rd Strike when it came out, they lied about liking its characters. Now, now that zoning is practically gone and all skill is removed - they're lying about SFV being a skilled game.
>OH MY GORDDDDDD, all they need to do is add Alex and Urien, and I'm gonna main the hell outta them! Just you watch! I'mma commin!
Game releases, no one uses them.
Zachary Anderson
SFV Balrog is all retarded so fair enough if he doesn't have one.
I always like Balrog as a low-ish damage footsies monster who can combo easily so in my world it's OK for him to have a (shitty) reversal
Mason Ramirez
It depends on the move's hitbox, some jump ins have an extended hurtbox which makes them easy to AA even with fucking cr mp if you time it right.
j.HPs usually have a lowered hitbox, which makes it harder to AA with a jab. because jabs have a fucking tiny hitbox in season 2, they only can still be used as AA because they are very fast.
Caleb Scott
>Ryu has the strongest neutral >In SFV
Loving every laugh
Nolan Gonzalez
They've been nerfed not nullified
also AA jab always existed in SF
Andrew Jones
>Max resources spent >Makoto won disadvantage several times >Ryu threw out the most punishable move in the game for no reason I see nothing wrong with it
Christian Rodriguez
>No reason Well he was desperately attempting to stop the air parry punish, probably misjudged when she'd land.
ToD is fucking cancer, dont even try to act like it's acceptable.
Jason Fisher
>ToD is fucking cancer, dont even try to act like it's acceptable. We're gonna have to agree to disagree there. Sure it's cancer if you can transition into ToDs from random tags in neutral. But there's nothing wrong with spending all available meter on a heavy punish to end a round.
Jeremiah Clark
>emtpy jump grab >lol gj you dead.
Jacob Kelly
Thanks for explaining it. That was information I couldn't find and it had been an infuriating time in the lab trying to figure out how it worked.
Seriously, user, I appreciate it.
Jacob Harris
Who the fuck has stronger neutral? Maybe Guile, I guess?
Juan Clark
>throw a DP out in a game with air parry >there was no way I could've avoided this!
Lincoln Phillips
>you >understanding nuetral you must be a lolbab
Brody Hughes
Yeah Guile.
I personally would also say Nash, Chun and Karin.
Jose Parker
not videogames
Ryan Morales
wat
Carter Nguyen
>wakeup dps >zoning Lmao
Brayden Harris
Urien, Balrog's, Cammy, Vega, Birdie, Bison...
Lincoln White
Balrog does not play neutral well, he can just convert into retard damage off stray hits once he fills his gimmick bar.
Andrew Richardson
Ryu isn't a zoner, what the fuck
Christian Evans
> they're lying about SFV being a skilled game.
Well, then, post your CFN, oh skilled one.
Hunter Mitchell
I WILL STILL BEAT YOU WITH MIKA
YOU WILL NEVER BE GOOD UNTIL YOU REALIZE YOU ARE BAD
Hudson King
Started playing like a week ago
How can I be a real american hero while playing Guile? I can already do charge moves, working on getting them consistently in combos
Nolan Gray
I think 3 Ryu is the most he's filled his archetype, he can do nearly everything but he's not particularly spectacular at any one part, he's also much slower than other iterations and is more of a bruiser but he still has good normals for poking and can handle himself under pressure.
I really like SF3 Ryu, it's a shame he's shitty and the game is retarded.
