Hey Sup Forums

Hey Sup Forums,
As my newyears resolution i am joining the PC master race.
I am looking for a good 1070 GPU, but can't really decide.
I am from europe so the prices are all over the place, and doesn't always equal a good product.
What can you recommend?

ps. Does some cards still blow up?

No much difference 2bh. Just grab one.

>do some cards still blow up?
when did this shit ever happen exactly?
Besides with W10 auto-updates, that is. Which's easily avoided by opting to use W7 Ultimate.

>Does some cards still blow up?
EVGA ones did due to some incompetence which I heard was tied to those involved with the Galaxy Note 7s also blowing up. I heard they've already remedied this.

MSI 1070s seem pretty good. I would avoid Gigabyte, I've been having heaps of trouble with their cards lately.

Not OP, but even within MSI there are three of four choices on Newegg.
Are the red ones better? I literally can't find a difference other than the color and the word "gaming."

EVGA fucked up bad by forgetting thermal pads on their 1070 cards, but at least they're cool about it and will fix it for you free of charge.
The recently-produced ones are fine though, you can't go wrong with the SC or FTW cards.

The MSI Gaming 1070 and Asus Strix 1070 are great. I've got the Strix 1070 myself and it's beastly. In its "OC mode" it hits 2063MHz.

How can there be no difference between the 12 to 15 models?
What do you pay the extra $ for on the "premium" cards?

Not him, but there are only a few differences between cards, such as amount of fans or base clock speed. I would look at the specifications that are available on the page of the graphics card and do some research of a specific card that interests you.

Overclocking and custom coolers. Unless you want your machine to sound like a jet engine, it's a good idea to get a card with a custom cooler.
Some custom coolers are good enough that they don't even need to run the fans until they hit certain loads.

Is the 1080 worth it? Or should I just stick with a 1070?

This will be for my first-time build.

So what is a good 1070 with a good cooler, that does not sound like a jet engine, but is still gives good performance?
