They picked the absolute wrong look for FF7 in the follow up games, movie, and now this remake. If they'd gone with a more traditional anime style look like in some other series the silly stuff would have fit and the tone could have remained unchanged.

As it is they basically have to rip out all the charm from the game otherwise nothing is going to fit their chosen aesthetic.

Which is why it will suck. Either they're going to have to drop a ton of stuff which will change the tone of the game and lose most of the charm, or they're going to have a lot of stuff which will be really jarring with the new art style and come off as super awkward.

We have the technology now to do good anime style visuals now. Plastic dolls just won't work as well.

Phoenix Down as seen in old FFs is an angelic calling summoned via a Phoenix feather. The angel revives the soul which is how the character gets revived.

Now go play FFVII, go ahead I'll wait.

SPOILERS sephiroth stabs her fucking soul out and it falls into the water. Yes that white ball thing is her soul. Go play it and see for yourself. With her soul in the water, of course Phoenix down won't work.

Death is only permanent for Nox in that you must use a phoenix down if he is dying or else you get the game over screen. The others will revive with the minimum HP cap once out of combat.

No. The current Cloud was based on the Dissidia arcade/PS4 version. They've been going with the gray/purple fatigues for a while and the platinum blonde.

I've rotated everyone in my party on every playthrough (This is also true for all JRPGs except one.), but I guess my favorite is Cloud, Cid and Yuffie.
