Why? Just play the version that is already out. Do you like to play as prettyboys for some reason?

...

Is it a fan translation?
for what?

Yeah, story is more deep

It's the exact same story.

Lol nope.
there is not character development in Gestalt

Dad version is better.
Fuck the bishishit version

>Just play the version that is already out
If you can buy it sure
Digital release when

EOP KEKS NEVER EVER HAAHAHAHAHA

You never played the original version

I want this badly. Fucking hated Papa Nier. Looked like a cross between a Gears of War character and an aborted fetus

I really doubt it would happen, unless we got some kind of remaster, which is also unlikely.
The closest we'll get is that DLC that I think lets you play as him in some challenge dungeons.

He already knows dad version is superior, why'd he need to play the other one

I just want to play the western version on xbone backwards compatibility but fuck, that looks like it will never happen either.

Ask @yokotaro and @squareenix for an international release

who cares? it's a shit game

Indeed...but why are you here anyway, user-cuck?

>wanting to play as a sissy degenerate siscon

sauce?

There's only 2 translated Nier doujins, come on.

twitter.com/XenosagaHD

How about creating a NierHD project?

I want to play it how it was intended to be played

Retard

>wanting the non canon version

It is the canon version.

Non canon version....please lurk more before posting shit

The "father Nier" version was thought exclusive for the western audience. They also made important change in dialogues, and transform the game in a more linear hack and slash

>They also made important change in dialogues, and transform the game in a more linear hack and slash
What changed exactly? It deosn't matter if she calls him daddy or oniichan. It's not important.

Nier Gestalt is the bad copy of the original game

Please refrain from posting shit

>and transform the game in a more linear hack and slash

how

>please lurk more before posting shit
>Please refrain from posting shit
Getting a bit too obsessed here friendo.

>plebs insist on saying the shitty western model swap version is better

Not only there are parts of the story that don't make much sense with an older character but you also miss subtleties like this one:

youtu.be/WShqBuHnT2s?t=3m21s
(Kaine looking up and seeing grown up Nier for the first time)

Just because Nier Gestalt is the only version you got to play it doesn't mean it's the best one.

First of all, there is no difference between the two narrative arcs of the games.
Protag is always an old man who wants to save his daughter.
In the original version, Nier change radically in the second part and his primary objective became to kill all shades.
Also the reletionships with Devola and Popola and Kaine are different.
Young Nier considers D&P like partents, and Kaine like his first crush

Probably bullshit. I've always been told the only change was the father/daughter - brother/sister thing.

So the Japanese version is basically anime tropes: the game?

>In the original version, Nier change radically in the second part and his primary objective became to kill all shades.
How is this different from Gestalt?
It's just flavour. If you like to be called "oniichan", sure you'd go for the subhuman faggot anime version.
Just a matter of preference.

Also all the scenes with Kaine dont make any sense in the Father Nier version...but who cares, right?

Wired.com: Why did you decide to release two separate versions of the game in Japan, but only one in the U.S.?

Square Enix: Nier was designed with a very strong adult male character as its lead character. We realized as we built the game that this is not what has been the “usual” RPG experience for gamers in Japan. For that reason, we decided to make changes to the game, only in Japan and only on the PlayStation 3 version. In that version of the game, the role of Nier is played by a younger, more traditional Japanese RPG hero figure. In order to make this work, the PS3 Japan-only version features a brother saving his sister, while all other versions (including the game here in North America) Nier is a father saving his daughter.

Look this video @3:22

Gestalt is just a stupip bait for the yankee

It's false.
As you can see in the video here
the animations are designed for Replicant, which is the original version.

Oops, oniichanfags got destroyed.

wired.com........
please kys

Have you read the original interview of Yoko Taro?

>Originally, the young Nier was the only main character. “I made the youthful version (the protagonist of Nier Replicant) first, during development Saito-san (producer) talked about considering overseas markets,” Taro Yokoo, Director at Cavia, explained in an interview with Inside Games. “At Square Enix’s Los Angeles studio we had a discussion, it was said having a fragile young character was not possible. So, I started preparing a macho protagonist for North America.”

Oniiichwaan tasukete

Exactly. Matter of preference. Both are made by the same studio and written by the same person.

Now go back to masturbating to your sister.

Where does the thing about cycles come from? I've seen it before in Nier threads from months ago but I can't find places where it's mentioned

>How is this different from Gestalt?

Because Brother Nier stops caring about Yonah after a certain point and just basically becomes Caim.

How about a remake where you can choose between Papa Nier or Junior?

The biggest difference is the time skip. B Nier goes from like 12 to 19. Pretty big leap and he feels a lot like a different character. In the first have of the game he is a much more naive character and a lot of that goes away. His character model completely changes.
D Nier goes from like 35 to 42. He is just a goober before and after. The time skip servers no real purpose. He gets an eyepatch.

Like, why do you think Dad Nier can't use big weapons until the time skip? Because it's designed for Brother Nier. He grows up during the time skip. He can't use those big weapons when he is a kid.

>The biggest difference is the time skip. B Nier goes from like 12 to 19.

15 to 21, actually

it's like mgs 2, Kojima created Raiden because japan.
Raiden was designed as a bishonen character due to fan letter from a fangirl stating that she didn't want to play as "an old man" in Metal Gear Solid

I thought someone mentioned a translation patch for the Replicant version yesterday? Was that just a joke? Would be cool to be able to replay Nier but with the other protagonist before the new game comes out.

It's just the Gestalt's subtitles slapped on Replicant.

It's 90% the same shit so it must have been. There is a model swap patch floating around somewhere but that's all it does.

Oh, that's kind of lame.

Fuck he looks creepy as shit.

Old dad looks good.......

There's nothing wrong with Gestalt Nier, he's a perfectly good character, but he doesn't change much through the course of the game.

I said it in last night's thread, but the fact that people say it's the same story, means you don't actually know the slightest thing about Brother Nier. The first half of the game fits his story far more because it's a coming of age story that devolves into a boy's loss of innocence after having everyting taken from him. For Father, it's mainly just a dude going around running errands and trying to save his daughter.

No he's talking about this which I mentioned last night
gbatemp.net/threads/potential-nier-replicant-translation-project.417273/

I always thought the scene where he convinces her to live was hilarious. Just his gestures and shit were wacky as fuck... like I'd expect out of some annoying jRPG teenage hero.

he looks like kaine without boobs and ass xD

this project is a joke

Everything starts somewhere

Ah, I didn't know about that. I doubt anything will come out of it.

>asian nier

You have superior alpha male nier you fag. Why do you want to play as a sissy boy? Are you gay or something lol

Post pics of your dick. I bet you don't have the balls to post pics of your dick lol

Why is Replicant taking so long to translate? Cant they just copy paste 90% of the dialogue?

It's 20 bucks on amazon faggot

do they actually plan on releasing Replicant to the west?

I've already played it on my PS3, but it would be nice if the PC version Automata had it bundled in to make up for the likely (confirmed?) delay.

even the Shadowlord version of replicant looks bad its like an emo naruto character

Oh yeah that one implied boy pussy story is so interesting and adds so much depth

Father/Daughter > Brother/Sister

no thanks, the dub is amazing

To be fair Taro had an intention behind making Nier be a dad in the west, it wasn't just a bunch of business suits pressuring him.

The paternal dad/daughter relationship is a lot more relatable in the west compared to a brother sister relationship

even the Papa nier cosplay is better

I know people have their preferences, but I don't think it's really a big issue story-wise. The only major change of dialogue between the two versions is whether Yonah refers to Nier as onii-chan or Dad.

No, it's not. There's a lot of difference in inter-character dialog.

It's really sad when EOPs try and pretend that papa Nier is okay.

It's okay guys, we all know about the fox and the grapes.

I just wanted a to see an lp of the original game translated in English

Alright, for realsies.
What's the canon version?

Brother Nier. It's not even a question.

and Japan and his fetishes ... the whole little sister incest fad that's taken over the anime industry little girls chant "onii-chan, onii-chan" in their high pitched voices

Both because that's how Taro rolls, all routes and possibilities are canon. Plus the DLC shows that Papa nNier looked like Brother Nier when young and Brother will grow up to look like papa.

I'm looking at gameplay of Replicant on YouTube, but how come he doesn't have cooler Raiden-esque hair like he does in OP's pic?
He looks like a fucking chicken. I don't mind not having this version now.

Gestalt is the canon version.

Part 1 Brother Nier had this amazingly stupid haircut. He cuts it to the boxart look for part 2.

Both are.

False.

I don't understand why people keep saying that, it makes no difference if it's a dad/daugther or brother/sister relationship per se. What matters is that the game was written with a brother/sister relationship in mind and a young character that grows up during the story.

I don't really see why a crude model swap with an older looking character would improve it, if anything it makes it worse because, as people have already pointed out in this thread, it causes a lot of inconsistencies (out of place animations, pointless timeskip, awkward dialogue etc).

Also Taro stated that Replicant (as it wasn't obvious enough by looking at the game) is the canon version and it was always the original idea.
Gestalt is a marketing stunt.

The twist though is that in Replicant's character arc Yonah becomes almost irrelevant at some point.

The whole reason it was different, they felt Adult Muscular protag would be more appealing in the west. I think if they were to consider it, one would have to show people will actually buy it.

You might as well flip the coin because both versions are pretty much identical

Brother Nier turns into a bloodthirsty psychopath that would rather off himself than continue to deal with Yonah

Yes, this sounds much better.

10/10 would teleport behind you again

I just want them to rerelease the game someway. Ever since the announcement of Automata, the price of Nier skyrocketed in my country thanks to scalpers, and barely any retail store has it.

Daddy nier is better

Not sure about that

EXCEPT THEY AREN'T. Jesus christ how much are you people going to parrot this shit before you admit you're either lying or doing know better?

The two protagonists are characterized VERY differently and while the primary story contains all the same quests, the two approach everything with different dialog and different lessons learned.
