Follow the video guide, it's idiot proof, takes an hour or so with all the file creation and copy/pasting, but after that within another hour you'll be able to play backups, inject VC games, use custom themes, still be able to update to the newest firmware and play online.

If you follow the steps carefully on 3ds.guide without going too fast it will be alright. It's only part of the process where you can't close the lid so just do it quickly and you'll be good

Dumbfucker, I hacked my 3DS back when rxTools was bricking consoles and I only use the damn hacking scene for the following:

1. Download and install games using them as Demo for its 1st hour if I like it I buy it if not I delete it

2. Play Dragon Quest with fan translation fuck Nintendo I will not buy another 3DS just to get to play my games

3. Screenshots and save backup

4. Playing undub versions of games that I already own

I remember wanting to a while ago, but it requiring a game and another hacked 3DS.

SD card big enough to place files on and create a backup, generally need around 4gb+ for that, but after you're done you can copy the backup to your PC and delete it off the SD card.

Anything over 64gb can be formatted to work, but anything over 64gb is also overkill. At 32gb I have almost 20 retail games, tons of VC/eshop titles and still have a little room left.

Also bigger cards mean higher failure rates if something goes bad and more shit lost as a result.

Hack works for everything up to 11.2, no need to downgrade.

I've got a n3DS with ambassador program on it since it is carried over from my old 3DS. Downgrading back when you had to go to 9.2 softbricked my 3DS every single time.

Am I still able to run CFW now that I don't need to downgrade, even with Ambassador program?

How do I remove the ghosting and darkening filter from my GBA Ambassador games?

The gist is you load files onto the SD card, open the Nintendo 3DS Sound application, play a file and magically launch homebrew.

After that you run programs to downgrade to 2.1 directly, install A9LH, and restore the 11.0 backup you make along the way.

The guide goes into this in full depth.
