Where were you when Valve made your controller into a Steam controller?
Your controller is a Steam controller now
Which lets me do what, exactly?
OP is saying that you are now allowed custom keybinds via steam on controllers other than the official steam controller
wow omg
I could already do this with xpadder before steam controllers were even a thing. Who gives a shit.
But what if my main controller is already a steam controller?
but isnt this only for big picture mode? fuck that
>xpadder
>not jtk
Native integration is always better than dealing with other shit. Especially Steam Controller's functionality, I can fully remap everything and automatically download configs that work best for the games I'm playing
>configs that work best for the games I'm playing
What does this even mean?
You can customise the control scheme at obscene levels. It's why the Steam Controller > other controllers and now you can get the ergonomics of an Xbox One/DS4 controller with Steam Controller functionality.
Well that's pretty cool. Won't have to use Xpadder for stuff, though most games I've been playing support controllers well enough anyway.
>using a dualshock on pc
This is neat, I always hated changing the profile for Xpadder and shit. Plus it looks like it lets me make shortcuts for Big Picture.
Nice stuff for whenever I'm playing controller games at the couch.
Also, it's the first time in probably three years that a Steam update actually did anything.
>implement FPS counter
>still never ever let us set a keybind to toggle it even years later
Should I be glad I don't have a controller then?
>using a dualshock on pc
I bought one for my PC and it's the best PC controller I ever had. Fuck Xbox crap.
How can a human being with such shit taste exist?
Dude I heard you liked controllers
How do you get it to show a different controller than the Steam controller? I want it to look like a Logitech one or at least an Xbox one so I can configure the right stick. The "Xbox config support" thing in controller settings isn't doing anything.
nvm fixed it :)
Have to reconnect controller
because it's Sup Forums
I used a DS4 but I wanted something a bit more premium so I got the new Xbox One (white bluetooth) controller and it feels so much more premium
To each their own but goddamn, I hate going back to the DS4 whenever I play a Sony exclusive.
>premium
>premium
ebin shitpost my dude
where's the config screen for this, or it only in big picture?
Dualshock 4 feels fucking terrible
Only big picture
Once you enable it in big picture, you can right click on a game in your library and select "Steam Controller configuration" to change the bindings.
The bindings are always in effect as long as Steam is running.
>Still no DInput support
I'll never be able to use all my controllers will I?
if you set up a controller in big pic and then exit back to normal does it still save and use your config and games can detect your settings?
Yes.
is this live or in the beta client?
Broken feature is trying to set your joystick to a scrollwheel. It's like it still expects a touchpad for that. Can set it to arrow keys, but would have been cool to have pressure sensitive stick scrolling.
used a ds4, no it doesn't
suggest it
Xbone controller is trash my dude
I'm actually close to configuring a way to make it work anyway. You can set the joystick as a d-pad, then bind those d-pad buttons to a mouse scroll wheel, and then tell it how often to press that button based on how far the joystick is pressed, basically emulating pressure sensitivity precisely anyway.
I'm glad all this shit is saved to the cloud because I wanna get real autistic about it even though I'll probably never use it since I have a mouse at my coffee table anyway when I'm playing controller games.
Can I map the X360 guide button to screenshots yet?
Now you don't need shitty Chinese malware to do it
but those controllers already come set up, why would i need to dl profiles and shit for something that works out of the box?
Steam has a FPS counter?
>not using the xbone controller
its is literally the best controller of all time
and its native with EVERYTHING on steam
It means the steam controller basically comes nonfunctional and you either have to download a control profile or spend 30 minutes setting it up yourself. This feature provides no benefit to standard controllers as they are already functional.
You could always press the guide button and then right trigger to take screenshots, even before this update.
Yep, pic related
>You could always press the guide button and then right trigger to take screenshots, even before this update.
That's in Big Picture mode only. Who and why the fuck would ever use it is beyond me
Big picture works pretty well using a Steam Link on a TV. You know, the thing it's meant for?
DS4>360>Xbone
>That's in Big Picture mode only. Who and why the fuck would ever use it is beyond me
Because you can take screenshots with your controller.
The other way around, silly.
I feel stupid because i can't find the option to enable my 360 controller as a steam controller anywhere, even in big picture
Go back as far as you can, then from the main menu on the upper right corner there should be a gear icon for the setting, the controller settings are on the left column.
Well yeah but when i get there there's only set up a steam controller which i think only works for actuall steam controllers, an option for ps4 pads and a think acknowledging that my controller is plugged in but that doesn't give me any options
You have to be in the Steam beta. Go to your Steam settings and change your beta participation, then restart.
Oh yeah that makes sense. Thanks.
>Best controller
>Non-symmetrical face buttons
Choose one
They have tiny babby hands and are incapable of using a real sized controller.
Kekekeke, D-pads aren't a thing you are aware of are they?
Anyone else just use a Wii U Pro? The thing works beautifully.
>Joy2key built into Steam with twice the customization and a better interface
Holy Fuck, thank you Valve. I just got my steam controller for Christmas and that shit is the bomb. Not for every game though.
Please. Xboxes have used tiny baby controllers ever since they dropped the first phat one.
DS3 > DS4
>You can now bind a key to minimize Big Picture
Thank fucking god, this was my biggest issue with Big Picture. Alt+Tab made it awkwardly loom in the background still. Now I can just hit the middle button and then click the joystick in or something to completely minimize it.
